Does it make much difference? OBBM on this here forum will whip you up really high quality leads for a stupidly low price depending on what you need.

To sum up, yes. The head will be outputting roughtl 2/3rd's when connected to a single 8 ohm cab. So as long as you don't run the output at more than 90% with a single cab it shouldn't blow up the drivers. And yes, two 200w 8 ohm cabs running together present a 4ohm load and will share the 325 evenly between them, meaning each cab gets 162.5 watts, but yes another way of putting it is that together they could handle the 400w between them. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, and further clarification can be had in the stickies.

In all fairness, while I don't know SC's guidlines, discounts in my old retail place when selling damged/opened goods required a supervisor or above to swipe for authorisation as it was deemed sales staff might abuse it, give it inappropriatly etc... Maybe they're just plain not allowed unless it's really bad?

Go see if you can borrow a 6 string bass for a practice or two, and play all his guitar parts on it, that'll soon shut him up.

Well, I just got an email back from Southampton SC, turns out that the basses are on the till system and they've just recieved the brochures for them TODAY. They're going to email the suppliers to see if they've got any coming to the store then get back to me. Looking good though, and I suspect they'll be instore rather than special order due to being an Ashdown company, seeing as SC always have a fairly large Ashdown stock.
Screenshot fun....
That one's a classic. There's also replying with "Alt-F4" if some asks how to do something under any windows program. You can also reverse one's mouse buttons and movement and change the keyboard layout.

Hmm, it's alright, but I'm suprised it's not got the monkey grip/handle thingie on it that's on the other Vai signature's.
Where do you draw the line after that ? If I sold a bass with an almost invisible scratch I hadn't advertised would I be banned ? It's down to the buyer to be satisfied that the item they are purchasing is from someone they can trust and that the item is seen (even if just online) before being bought, same as eBay really. The buyer himself has said it's partially his own fault for not waiting for decent pics to ensure the bass was as described.
Granted, that's true, but stating something is in Great Condition generally implies it's not going to have an unmentioned chip and scratches, if it had been described as fair with a couple of flaws but a great player it would be different, but to me it does sound like purposely misleading the buyer.

Right, reviving an old thread. Anyone seen/played one of these in the wild yet? Seems Soundcontrol (according to their website) don't stock them even though they're listed as offical dealers in the UK. However, Sounds live stock them at a respectable £799, which puts them smack on the level with MIA Jazzes. I'm still interested and was planning a pop to Southampton SC to try one, but ah well, can't have everything.

I'd be happy to drop in a fiver to help fund repairs and stuff. I also want the seller to be banned from the boards if he's purposly swindled someone, and not made reparations after being caught.
New bridge, new tuners, new nut, new case as far as I can make out.
Oddly enough, wasn't a new bridge one of the most mentioned items about Fenders' in the Bass pet peeves thread?

From the Features box:
# Switchable Tube/Solid State # 100% Solid State design
Que? That makes not alot of sense, unless it just means there's a switch to turn valve emulation on or off, which well...sounds like fishing for features.
Well, I have a black Gibson T'bird that I bought 2nd hand a few years back and I love it. Starting to get a bit tatty in places, which makes me feel the finish could be a bit more robust to start with. I also have a worry about the headstock getting smacked off one day too.. I know it's a weak spot on these. I love the sound I get from mine, it's big, has mondo sustain, has a dirty edge to it and I just love it. Saying that my Jazz draws me back for twiddling around at home. My T'bird is my main gigging bass (though I am in mind for a Precision that could share the billing) and it just looks damn fine too. What do I hate? The stupid bloody neck dive!! grrrrrrr. And access to the top end frets can be a bugger too. To date, I don't have a heroin adiction.
Neck dive? Try moving the strap pin as close to the "heel" as possible (yes, I know it's a neck through, hence the quotes)
That's handy....no longer available they reckon!!
Have to click it to load it up in a new page in youtube, embedding's not allowed for that particular clip.

£200 quid in SC? Some pedals? one of the Squire vintage modified series?
-
Not alot in it, mainly just they changed from CIJ to MIJ sometime in the 90's (I've forgotton the date). Common agreement on this board is that MIJ/CIJ basses from Fender have a massively higher QC value than MIM and probably MIA. Simply put, I don't recall EVER (inc on Bassworld) seeing someone saying anything bad about the construction and quality of an MIJ/CIJ, by the looks of it the bad ones are kept in the factory and burned to appease the Voodoo gods of QC.

^^ If I get around to it next week, I'm off to try out another Epi T-bird, hopefully I'll get along with it because I loved the sound when I had one last.

Ignore the heathens, bass players in bath robes/dressing gowns are the way forward, not to mention they're comfortable.

I ask because after reading through the Fender Custom Shop website about Andy Summers' Telecaster, it struck a chord (apologies for the pun), although I'm fairly happy with my current choices, I still feel there's something lacking, that certain desire to grab that one instrument over another. I know I have the kind of opposite with my Aerodyne, which is why it'll probably get shifted on this summer, I dislike playing it currently, it's a nice bass in perfect working order but I don't know, I just can't gel with it so prefer my VMJ, but even that doesn't feel right, like it's the only one for me. Thinking about it, it's probably the deeper meaning behind GAS, and I know we all suffer/suffered from it. So I ask, has anyone found the one, the only one that is just pure heaven for them?

It was fun actually. Came to the conclusion that: sh*t cases are sh*t, and Apple's cases arn't sh*t. The OS's do different things, but for a PC use Linux if you're up to the change. We like to debate and swear at inanimate objects. Even so, bit of a thread revive from October.

Go find BigRedX's topic in Bass Porn, your questions will be answered.
She has skill but uses it for evil. Like Darth Vader.

That mentality is probably doubling her album sales and exposure. I'm sure she's not complaining too much.
That's actually a fair point. Saying that, it's Jazz; it's not mainstream music (well, it's not as such, I don't see much jazz in the r'n'b, dance, pop and rap dominated charts) where image counts, so it's probably just a small bonus, she is a talented player after all. And bass is bass, male or female player, just listening to it isn't going to tell your if they're male or female, unlike vocals.
Thanks Buzz. So does that mean someone is doing it on purpose with site downage in mind? What would be the point?
It means someone is doing it on purpose to take a site down that is hosted on that particular server. It doesn't mean they're targetting basschat as such, as the server will only physically be able to handle a fixed number of connections. Without having the details, you won't know if it's 100% directed at BC. Also, DDOS can happen for a number of reasons: 1) It'll be a guitarist jealous of the attention the ERB's are getting recently 2) Some script kiddy randomly choosing this IP because they're bored 3) Someone with a bone to pick against BC/other site/hosting company.
