1. So I can expose it to spirits then? Excellent
2. Er, you're paying for use of the rehearsal rooms yes? Unless it's been implicitily stated by either party that the leccy bills will be paid for by the band, it would be assumed to be part of the charge for hiring the room for it's purpose. In other words, it isn't your problem to pay the bills, and it's certainly none of your concern. I could have the wrong end of the stick if you've agreed to pay 'leccy on top of the rehearsal space fee's. You may want to check how he's pricing the units, as I reckon he's gone online for the current rate and charged you for the 'leccy that way, rather than keeping track of previous prices and working out the value you owe per session. And for reference, I paid ~£350 just for last quater in a house of 5 students, computer games tech students at that.
3. Sunbeams bought and put on earlier. Letting it settle a bit before tweaking the truss, but initial impressions are very good. Cheers folks!
4. Glorious effort for first timers, and would put many semi pro's to shame. Nice quality photos as well. I do have to ask though, the clothing choices for the instrumentalists and the singer? The band really look like a backing band as the singer doens't really have a tie in at all to the rest of you. She looks rather classy, and very '30s with the dress and the mic stand, however as others have mentioned, you lot do look like cut and paste indie kids. Not that there's a problem with that look per se, but it does leave me wondering just exactly what sort of music you play. Is it rock, indie etc.. if you go off the band, or is it more jazzy and lounge music with a foray into vintage pop going via the singer? Oh, and +1 for the moisturiser on the hands mate Edit: Nearly forgot: Lovely singer!
5. Why do you want to upgrade? Is the current not beefy enough, or not putting out the sound you want? Bearing in mind strings make a huge difference to sound as well, so don't discount playing with them first.
6. I still like the look of them. Quite a bit. I will have a play if I ever stumble across one, but I'm no longer gassing like I was, mainly because of the price.
7. "Lefty looosy, righty tighty". Loose, as noted above, means the truss isn't exerting as much pressure so you get forward bow, right and tight makes it extert more pressure to counteract the pull of the strings -> flatter.
8. It's one of the old sayings isn't it? Guitarists are a pound a penny whereas bassists, drummers and good singers are like gold dust.
9. Right, as much as I loathe asking opinions on strings as it's very much a personal preferences thing, I do need some suggestions. I'm currently playing my Squier Vintage Modified Jazz, lovely bass, albeit the pups are a bit on the bassy dark side, and currently swapping out the pups isn't an option. At the moment I've got Status Hotwire Grounds on it (45-105), which while quite nice to play, really don't help when I'm playing with others as it's just a rumbly lowend with the tone fully open, it's lacking a bit of midrange punchy grunt. It's not the fault of the strings, it's just the pups emphasing the lows seemingly at the expense of everything else, doesn't help that I'm playing though a borrowed practice amp either. I'm hoping to migitate this with strings, and it's where you rabble come in, I'm after strings that are not bright and zingy with top end ala EBMM Slinkies (which have been on and off), or out and out bassy strings (most flats), but I still want the playability and ease of use. I remember having good sounding results with Rotosound Nickels on it, but they came off as apart from being a bit stiff, I wasn't a fan of how rough they were (or at least, I remember them being). So I suppose I'm kind of looking for strings that have a good midrange while retaining playability, anyone care to offer suggestions?
10. Email Ashdown first with regards to replacing it. I think however they're just standard fans, so if you were to say, nip to a PC shop (online or not) and buy the correct size (and airflow obviously has to be same or better on the replacement as the amp will be designed for a certain minimum flow in mind for cooling), and look for "quiet" pc fans, you should be fine.
11. That looks really good. Suprised the Sei Bass logo isn't a little bit bigger though, seems tiny and surrounded by the vast amount of light wood.
12. I know of it from anime circles but have never watched more than snippits (Missed it when Bravo/Sci Fi channels were showing anime back in the day). The show itself gets glowing reviews from nearly everyone who watches it, and it's generally a staple in most anime fans dvd collections going by what I've seen.
13. The first is eating crisps isn't it? Ya fattie!
14. Pfft, heathens, throw of your left handed shackles like I did and play righty! I bet some of you even use your mice in left hand, freaks!
15. No matter what, don't get the Orange Crush 35b. Better cabs can be had for the same price.
16. Wait what? What happened to MOU?
17. Why would you want more grip on strings though? Surely you'd want them to be slippier so you can play easier and faster?
18. Blimeh, a non sunburst or red P. Looks rather good
19.
do those coating really do anything i thought string technology was about cores wraps and steel material..stainless or nickel coated rotos must be losing out on their normal range to have to go boutique
Depending how the coating is, yes it does stuff. Elixir coat the entire string, effectivly sealing it from dirt/grease/chips etc... which mean it takes much longer for it to die, reports have them going on the months or even years with no noticable drop in sound, and the coating makes it smoother to play as well. Other companies coat the just the winding, which ends up being roughly the same, just to a lesser degree. I'm interested to be honest.
20. Type52 wrap? That's a bit cryptic isn't it?
21. At nothing really in particular, just this general air of aggression in a few posts I thought, kind of the air where you're angry at something and that anger just happens to seep into other outlets.
22. Personally, I use my cock, it doesn't half hurt when you pop your banjo string though.
23. You've come across as a tad angry rather than blunt recently. S'no biggy, just an observation.
24.
Still waiting,1st gig of the year in 2 weeks...after winter break, guitarists op,tour bookings...and promo pics. sick of waiting really.
Ah, so that's why you've been raging recently. Makes sense now.
25. I thought this was either going to be about NME awarding an achievement to Garbage, or them actually handing a bag of rubbish to a band who had "worst album/worst song of the year". Shame they can't even do either of those two.
