1. I guess it is worth whatever someone wants to pay for it so we will see, eh? Nice looking bass, good luck. ped
2. Thanks guys - just bought them all :0)
3. Only just started listening to Feat recently - Starting off with 'Feats Don't Fail Me Now' - fave tracks are 'Spanish Moon' and 'Skin It Back' - really love the grooves, kind of like an early more southern Steely Dan. Which album should I get next?
4. It has a sweet lazy groove to it. Really nice :0)
5.
I've subscribed...and made a video! I will upload it to the basschat channel once it's sorted. P.
Now THAT is a groovy video, top marks. Love it.
6. Yeah mate it is all welcome, as long as it's bassin' This might develop into a great little page!
7. AHA! I see! Working great so far guys, keep uploading. I will update the post at the top so people find us and get a link at the top of the forum.
8. Yeah the page looks really bad, I had a right nightmare trying to make it look semi decent. Here is the 'group' url http://www.youtube.com/group/basschat Not entirely sure how it will work but get uploading if you can. Once we have a few vids I will get someone more skilled to dress up the page better! Cheers ped
9. Hi guys, Yeah I want everyone to sign up and add their stuff - is there a better way of letting people do this than just handing out the login details to people on here? Cheers pedro
10. I don't kiss and tell. And neither does Kiwi.
11. I like it. A gold anodised one might look sweet, too. ped
12. Perfect - let us know how you get on...
13.
Ha, you're not wrong! Plus it's cheaper than Stella! Yeah - it's not specifically one thing, there's loads of stuff ranging from a multitude of technique issues to improving versatility in terms of various music styles, gaining deeper understanding of chord "chemistry", which scales will work best over certain chords in certain contexts, improving my live sound, playing appropriate basslines in more complicated time signatures...groove playing...I could go on....basically I need to get better faster. It's mainly technique stuff at the moment though which is really beginning to slow progress, I can't make my fingers do what I want them to do on certain stuff, even with hours and hours of work on it. There's some great music opportunities around for stuff I am really interested in but I need to get my ass in gear and make much more progress than is happening currently. PS - I'm not looking for an overnight miracle and I will do whatever work it takes, I just need some pointers, there's only so much you can learn off YouTube!
I have been called an 'Overnight Miracle' before.
14. Wot about a link to your Baschat forum? I love the pic on the homepage of the little monkey fellow.
15. 'Well, least I have the face for radio...'
16. Gorgeous looking bass - love the subtle body logo, too. Sweet. Enjoy it.
17. Just made this: http://www.youtube.com/group/basschat Only a prototype at the moment, but hoping we can build up lots of nice bassy videos to the channel. I suppose the way to do it would be for me to tell everyone the password details for logging in and uploading? The formatting on the youtube channel is not much good, I can't move the boxes down the page so the basschat banner shows properly, but it looks OK I guess... ped
18. Delighted to hear you like the bass - make sure you post some nice bit pictures and sound asap! French basses rule ;0)
19. I like mine being active - 90% of the time I play it passive and with the EQ centred there is no difference in the sound, and it is nice to have a bit of adjustability that I am familiar with when using other amplifiers with which I am not familiar.

roland vb99

The thing with the Vbass and the VB99 is that the processing is much more complex than a typical modeller, in as much as it individually processes each string through a dedicated pickup/preamp system. That's the expensive bit, so making individual pedals with only a few things in them would actually be really expensive and counter productive. Good idea though. I should be getting a VB99 soon to review but I am an avid Vbasser. Going to the studio with it in a couple of weeks so will get some decent recordings and a video up too. Cheers ped
21.
Try fitting a set of Alembic Activators, a set of EMG's or another set of hi-fidelity pickups perhaps one day? It will make the bass even more clear and alive sounding (which is all thanks to the maple construction). The Barts really take the edge off the bass IMO.
Mine was a 4 string so can't comment on the affect on the B string but of all the Bart equipped basses I have had, this was the best. I really like Bart pickups when in the right bass. To my ears it sounded warm, punchy and superbly clean. Isn't the 5er J+J?
22. I had one for a while, it was my first proper bass. I thought it sounded superb, the barts (P+J) really suited the bass and I agree with 4000 on the sound. I have a song I recorded with mine here: http://www.freewebs.com/mrped/facethemusic.htm (the track is Coasting Down Vesuvius (lol)) The only reason I sold it in the end was because I thought the neck was a bit unstable, I seemed to be forever adjusting it, but on reflection I think it was just me working out the fact that I like stupidly low action with no relief, but without the knowledge of that exact fact at the time. All round a great bass, unusual, beautifully made and Mike Pedulla is a nice bloke (and Christine IIRC at Customer Services). I remember paying much less than £1000 for mine but then I did get very lucky and sold/traded it well above the value. P.s apologies for the utterly tasteless and immature track, at the time it was kind of the point!
23. Clang and brightness can be from a very low action and lack of neck relief, so think about adding a bit of height to the strings and introducing a slight bow to the neck so the strings won't clack the frets when you play. Personally I like it low, straight, clanky and clean!
