1.
I think the opening paragraph is missing a hyphen: Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament and a band employee were attacked by three-armed people in the parking lot of Southern Tracks Recording Studio ..' Wow. I hope someone took photos... it must have been quite a sight.
2. Last one looks photoshopped, somehow?
3. Fairly random one Dunno what I was trying to do here TBH
4. I would prefer Omar Hakim to smash me up with a pool que and a flatpack bedside table
5. I reckon JR might find your house and do a flying kick through your front door/your face hehe
6. Is your username dedicated to the John 'JR' Robinson album?
7. IME you won't notice much difference in the volume between a single 8 or 4 ohm cab. I could be wrong though, but I have never noticed any difference....
8. I have played this bass and it is great - I am sure the many owners on BC will agree they really are fantastically made basses. Great VFM... and buy with confidence, Matt is a nice enough chap. Only just.
9. If you call up Mr. East you could try his outboard Jretro (possibly he has the ACG too) with your very own bass. He is based near Oxford just on the M40.
10. I have a Marleaux 3eq pre in my bass - normally it is bypassed but what I really like about it (and the reason I got the East for my freteless) is the treble boost at 8khz which just works really well for a bit of extra cut live. ped
11. Here is the Basschat Youtube page which might provide some inspiration http://www.youtube.com/groups_videos?name=basschat
12. They have the GK3B at The Bass Gallery by the way. Thanks for the info, will wait for my friend to get back to me with these questions and will be in touch! I'm turning into Richard Bona! ped
13. Yeah when I recorded my lil youtube vid we set up a camera, played the sound direct to desk which was being recorded on Digital Performer (but you could use anything) When we finished we grabbed the video and the audio as two separate streams and synced them together in iMovie (but you could just as easily do it in Windows Movie Maker). Mike's idea of a 4 bar count to aid syncing is good, wish I thought of that because it took a bit of luck getting it spot on. It worked really well and we didn't have to rely on the quality of the mic on the camera and/or acoustics etc. Let us know how you get on. I plan on doing a couple myself now that I have a new computer based recording package. Cheers ped
14. Actually can you check this works for me: That should confirm weather it does have the version 2 or not. Cheers ped
15. Do you know if this has had the update to support Bass guitar? (GR-20 System update version 2.o0 apparently) - info on the link you sent under 'downloads'
16. I will have this, pending a few questions from a friend who uses one - mainly about how it works alongside the equally amazing Vbass. I will be in touch ASAP but don't wait for me. Cheers ped
17. ...And I think they may have done a 36" scale 4 string version? Try mailing Bacchus - PM me if you can't find the details as I have the blokes direct address.
18. Yeah that was a beaut. It's all about the neck relief in my book. Get that as flat as you can and tickle the bass! I have only found this possible on a couple of basses - The Vigier, the Marleaux and the Bacchus, because the fretwork was so good.
19. Problem for me is that because my action is so low, smooth and fast, and the bass is so responsive to every touch, when I play another bass which pretty much always has a higher setup, I sound awful. I feel like my hands are numb or something! I guess I am crap at playing any other bass than my own!! Quite interesting to note how different people play though - I play REALLY lightly and my friend Chris really digs in. It sounds great, too - but we are useless on each other's basses!! I can't get this sound without my action - light trebly click with smooth deep defined bass, badly played: http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/85432/US...%27s%20Wrap.mp3 Cheers ped
20. Personally I think coffee tables are usually rather plain!
21.
I waited around three years before I ordered my first Sei, though I'd just got my custom fretless and was very happy with it, and during that time I tried loads of amazing basses both boutique and stock models, and this gave me loads of info on the different qualities I wanted from my Single Cut. The whole process of deciding what I wanted and the subsiquent wait time and my increased knowledge of wood combinations, different pups and circuit all helped me decide alot faster and with increased confidence how I wanted my Sei Jazz to be, I also trusted Martin's decisions and creative instincts more and I couldn't be happier with the result. Patience is the key, it also helps you save up for these things which I did for both Seis, no worries. M
I think we have similar tastes bass wise Mike - of all the BCers basses I have played yours is up there as one of the best playing, IMO
22.
fair enough, i agree, if you're content with what you've got, you don't tend to moan about other people's things unless asked first.
...which is why you raised the topic and we are able to have an interesting thread without it being locked (can't find the TB one now!)
