  1. First one. Funk is the space in between the notes. I’d still be tempted to pop some of the octaves though!
  2. I never really understood Hiscox cases. They’re really thick, and I’ve never had one where the shell hadn’t come away from the aluminium edging. Suppose they’re quite light, but that’s it. They played a master stroke by making them easily moulded with manufacturer names on the side, though.

  4. Hi James I just wanted to say I love your playing - I have two EPs by Noya Rao. Excellent stuff
  5. I think the Jr version doesn’t have the polarity or clean blend switch which are quite important (for me). What sort of a sound are you going for?
  6. We used to talk about Vigiers a lot, I’ll always remember his blue burst Arpege. There’s a picture of us at the first ever bass bash in Northampton somewhere. Very talented bassist and such a warm, friendly character. Felt like I knew him much better than I did.
  7. Glad you like it. Looking forward to a full review! I found it compared really well with the Musitronics version despite everyone saying it was rubbish (but obviously they had never tried either)
  8. Yeah I like it too. I think k it was Ian Allison on Scott’s Bass Lessons who said it. He’s such an enthusiastic guy it’s hard not to like him 👍🏼
  9. I’ve heard vintage basses (or just instruments in general) described as ‘functional art’ - which makes sense to me.
  10. Very sad. I’ll remember him as a lovely bloke and amazing bassist.
  11. You’ll get a list of every OD pedal ever! But mine is the Valco KGB Dist. The impedance and polarity switches make a huge difference to the way the pedal behaves and I haven’t seen that function on anything else. It does a low gain breakup perfectly for me.
  12. Should be ok now thanks to @Woodinblack we would have done this behind the scenes a bit more if we had a chance but our server guy was so quick that we didnt have a chance 😂
  13. OK new server is purchased and we're migrating everything in the next few days. We'll test it for a bit and make a switch over soon. This will involve importing the database. The site itself shouldn't be down/offline at any stage but I'll let everyone know.
  14. I've been having trouble even logging in just now, so perhaps... I'd be perfectly suited to government
  15. We're running out of room on the server. I'll look into an upgrade - a quick look at current offers shows we can upgrade to one which will be 3x faster with double ram and storage... It'll happen in the next few days, all being well
  16. I actually think pickup placement is more important to the P sound than the pickup type. I’ve had really good P sounds from a few different basses with a variety of pickups. Standout ones are humbuckers with one hot coil, such as the MFD in OMG mode (iirc) or a custom thunderbird dual coil like I have now from Gemini pickups.
  17. Oh yeah it was hot as hell! But dial the volume back a tad and it sounded very P like
  18. I found it very close personally
  19. Is a G&L SB1 too much like a Precision shape for your taste?

    On it's way today!
  21. You can install some taller rubber feet to give you some extra height

Speaking of which (the DIY scene) - I'be been borrowing this funky thing from @LukeFRC It sounds great - with a fixed fast attack it excels at the bubbly funk sound. Build quality is great, I really like the punched lettering.
  23. I know a bloke who works for the company who do the contract manufacturing for Origin (Tioga Ltd). I'll see if he knows anything!
  24. Love it when that happens!
