Well - what can I say. It sounded amazing last night. We had a really good sound engineer who loved the DI (post EQ and HPF). In a couple of songs I come in quite a bit later and when I did I couldn’t believe the sound from this. So clear and clean with a silky top end. Of course it helps massively that it points at my ears. I had everything at 12 o’clock, even the gain and eventually the volume (stage vol kept creeping up as everyone wanted more of X in their monitor), in the end it got too loud but we didnt have long enough to perfect it. It felt like there was tons of headroom and I have it on good authority that the amp can remain clean and competent even all the way up. Not sure if I’ll get the extension cab now - I don’t think I need it, I mean it would give more volume but then I would either have to Stacy the cabs so they don’t point at me anymore or angle them both back and take up more floor space. Instead, I’m tempted to get a mini BassBoard to use with the combo, to give me the ultimate stage feel along with my Backbeat, like I do at home (but the Bassboard at home is massive)

Actually at a gig now, just having soundchecked with the Eich. Sounded brilliant and I could hear myself better than ever 🤞🏼 only need keys in my monitor.

It's just arrived after I sent the other one back. Seems fine, the case is great and although I detect a tiny bit of hiss and latency when being super critical, it's 100% fine for real life use and hasn't dropped out at all. I am using the 'cable tone' setting which sounds pretty much like my cable does and is indistinguishable in a mix. Thanks for the recommendation!

I have extensive experience with the GK3b pickups and the Vbass and VB99. I think the G-33 bass pickup is still a magnetic type? If so, I think k flats would work well actually. No reason why not. I didn't find strings had any more effect than they would with a normal magnetic pickup, but the unit you’re plugging into may vary. Perhaps an older unit might benefit from a strong fundamental and therefore flats may help. But I think you’ll agree with me when I say it’s more about a clean technique.

Mobilesheets must be switching as the audio output source when opened. Like if you’re playing Apple Music then open Facebook and in-mute a video, that takes over and subsequently every time you open Facebook it mutes Apple Music as it’s waiting for audio from that app. The solution is to hit mute on a Facebook audio/video clip then play music again from the control centre. Is there some way to stop mobilesheets ‘listening’ for audio?

I recently bought an Eich 112pro combo from @Wan on the forum. Wayne met me half way (in fact I think he travelled much further than I did) and we had a great chat during the familiar car park handover. Lovely guy, with a lot of fantastic experiences and gigs. As described, the combo is in brand new condition and complete with the padded cover and shipping box. Wayne sold it as his gigs now require in-ears, and in some respects, my band is moving in that direction hence the need for something which is step towards that. I’ve had lots of big amps, tube amps and solid state, and I’ve always quite liked combos for some reason. My Blackstar U500/250ACT stack being my most recent rig. However I have found that the gigs we play tend to be in dedicated music venues with decent PA and I only need a monitor. I don’t always get one however as we’re a 7 piece band and there aren’t usually enough. The idea of a kickback came from a recent gig where we played a big-ish stage and I used a house 2x10 Laney combo kickback. It sounded great, as in I could hear myself better than ever. But it was very heavy. I did play the previous version of this Eich combo, by Tecamp, some time ago. I like that it’s still a box shape as opposed to a wedge, and I find the tilt back mechanism, by way of a little metal rod that slots in at the back, elegantly simple and effective. I got it home and set everything flat. I haven’t used many cutting edge new breed cabs so I wasn’t really prepared for the sound of this thing. It sounds and feels absolutely huge, thick and syrupy without any ‘boxy’ vibes that I normally associate with a small combo. It’s really quite incredible. The treble is so smooth and sweet maybe due to there being a separate cone as opposed to a horn for the top end. I didn’t need to change a thing from dead flat for the perfect sound (at home) whikst the simple ‘taste’ control will no doubt be useful in live settings, helping either bring out the clank and mids or warmth and pillowy feel with one twist. It’s also dead silent and pretty light, but reassuringly solid. I have yet to try the DI but will do this weekend. Some pics in ‘lean back’ mode. Not sure how I’ll position it on stage, wonder what others do - maybe to my side so I’m in between it and the drummer. I may get the extension, I very much doubt I’ll ‘need’ it, but in case they stop making them in black it may be nice to have 🤔 Question - if I wanted for some mad reason to use this AND my Blackstar rig, could I use something like a Lehle P Split II after my pedalboard and run a cable into each amp and control them separately? My bass is passive and I’m not sure if my pedalboard buffers the signal or not, certainly the main pedals on the top don’t but there’s a TC Soectracomp underneath, always on?

Hi mate, The 15 pairs really well with the 2x10 but I haven't tried it on its own. I believe it's a pretty good speaker (Eminence Opus or something). The u500 is great, I really like it - it's not that light but OK to carry like a big box rather than with the top handle (which is OK for manoeuvring it about to an extent). I have tried the various voicing and response curves but found that for my tastes they all sound a bit too much - however on the linear/flat setting it sounds very natural. Perhaps it's very slightly boxy sounding but I have yet to play with the sweepable mids to dial in what I want - it's always been great in a mix on the night. The DI is great too, it's pre or post EQ with the option for emulation (like a fixed IR). I have just bought an Eich 112pro though because my Blackstar stack is either too big for some venues or slightly redundant at bigger ones with decent PA. You're welcome to try it if you like Cheers

Blackstar do a 250ACT (powered 15" speaker) which is an active extension for the U500 combo (I have both). I'm not 100% sure but I guess you could have a couple of those and use them with your pedalboard as a pre?
