  1. WWYD? Since starting in a new band recently we’re looking at around one gig a month. The venues tend to be dedicated music venues as opposed to pubs, and festivals in the summer. If nothing else, this strikes me as a good excuse to buy a backup bass for my Mustang which I could worry less about at gigs. I feel the best thing would be for me to take my bass and see @Willfunk at BassBros and compare (they have two of the potential winners below) but failing that I’m not sure what to go for out of the following: JMJ Mustang (Blue) Vintera II Mustang (Orange) Pawn Shop Mustang (White) Given that my #1 has a thunderbird pickup I’m leaning towards the Pawn Shop. Less keen on white though and the other options for the pawn shop series are either too similar to my 66 or sunburst which doesn’t suit a Mustang imo. I like the slab body. Can’t find any decent videos to demonstrate the sound though. The JMJ seems like it would be the closest in looks and general feel although the neck sounds like it might be beefier, not that I mind that much. The relicing looks ok apart from the upper horn where it looks like it’s been shot at with a BB gun (assuming they’re all identical?) The Vintera looks cool in orange but not sure how well the pickup compares with the JMJ. Body is contoured which will feel quite different. All are around £1000 used and the Vintera is about that new. I wonder if anyone has tried them all?
  2. I don’t think so, you’d be doing pretty well to bend it. I’ve only had the tres models which aren’t as deep. Perhaps the quad has slightly more flex due to the size, but I doubt the bracket helps much. Another option is to add taller feet and then you can have more options for mounting the supply.
  3. Option 2. The centre brackets are pointless and waste loads of space IME
  4. Slightly smaller board than previously. I changed my vintage Mutron (which necessitated a loop switch due to leaky bypass) with the Mutron III+ which I prefer in many ways. It was a challenge to fit everything underneath but it all fits (after lots of mucking about). There's a Broughton HPF (you can adjust the knob through a hole in the side of the board), Warm Audio DI, MXR comp, power supply and junction box...
  5. @obbm made a version attached to a drum stool IIRC... think it worked well.
  6. You could also consider a 'Backbeat' which fits onto your strap. Both the platform and backbeat are fantastic and really addictive!

    Poorly Mutron III

Hi mowf, Soundgas service Mutrons, although I think they prioritise gear they've previously sold/serviced. Maybe worth a try...
  8. Thanks! I’ve given it a try at 18v and there’s no ‘pop’ and it sounds great 👍🏼
  9. Thanks, this was my thinking - no harm in trying it i guess. The pedal it's powering takes two 9v batteries but via the power input it indicates 25v max DC, and I trie dit at 12v yesterday which sounded the same as usual - though I did notice a slight popping when engaging or disengaging the pedal which you don't get with batteries - I wondered if it's because I'm supplying it with an odd voltage (hence wanting to try 18v)
  10. Quick question. Is it ok to use a Truetone voltage doubler with a Cioks power supply? I need one of the 9v outputs doubling to 18v and the one that does that natively is taken.
  11. Brand new condition, boxed with power supply and USB cable. Now redundant due to some band setup changes. Any questions please ask!
  12. Let us know your whereabouts and there may be a member nearby who could help
  13. Thy look pretty high even at the headstock end of the neck so maybe the nut isn’t cut low enough or the strings aren’t sitting in it properly. Or do they get further away as you go up the neck and the first few frets feel ok?
  14. You could use EBS flat cables, and a junction box for your bass in/amp out. Nic bit of kit, that Bassics
  15. That sounds most likely - I was going to suggest it was some sort of autocomplete but it sounds like you don't recognise the recipient.
  16. Are the bank details that the seller gave you showing as correct (I.e what he wrote) in the PM?
  17. Not really but I think it’s a great idea. When I started playing it was in the period where we transitioned from proper cameras to digital, and that combined with a regimented backup system and multiple life changes meant that many of the pictures taken have disappeared, but those that remain could be sorted into an album of their own so maybe that’s a job for a rainy day.
  18. Presumably if the bridge is fanned too then straight pickups would be the most even choice? I agree that a test body with moveable pickups is the best idea.
  19. Yeah partly, though the body shape is more rounded on the newer ones too. Either way it's plain wrong! 😄
  20. My advice would be to just to get on using the forum for the time being rather than talking about where it should be. I personally don’t think it’s going to be very popular anyway but happy to be proven wrong! Not sure what the problem is with where it is not until it warrants a whole main forum.
  21. Maybe it would fit sideways with the input cable fitting in a gap between your boss pedals? You could put it before the chorus so the output from the cabin is ‘on top’ again
  22. Those boards are so neat - great idea. Really satisfying board, that! Maybe the HPF would fit under the board?
