1. POG all day long. I was really unimpressed by the OC3 and sold it after giving it a good 6 month bedding into period, I just didnt like it. If you've ever used the octave down on an ashdown amp, it sound like that, just slightly glitchier. I have heard others use the POG and I have a HOG which both sound sweet as a nut mate. The good thing about the hog is that all octaves are clean, not sure if there a little drive on the upper octave with a POG. good luck.
2. I really like EQD delay and modulation pedals, they have something a bit surreal in them, even at the tamest of setting. I super regret moving the ghost echo and transport disaster go, Review!
3. You'll plateau somewhere, its the genius amongst us who dont rest on there lorrels and keep going for better things.
4. Well, I went for the Xotic BB bass preamp, its kinda like (just) a REALLY good pedal because it doesn't have a DI out, so yeah: tonally, these seem to be better pedals and effects, if I could make that assertion. I'm very impressed with it so far through the mini rig at home and a GK backline 600 at the rehearsal studio. this needs a DI though to be a true preamp IMHO and not just the king of bass overdrives.
5. Grab a Boss Line Selector 2. These give you options for selecting signal paths, blending signal paths, volume control and with helpful LED's. They sell fairly cheap 2nd hand and you'll likely get the same back for it too.
6. I know there's loads of other examples of this happening but I'm kinda against new products having dead peoples names to them. Surely the manufacturer could just dine out on the prestige of being used by Burton had he actually used this and not a muff as main fuzz ..? But this pedal just seems a bad product with a dead persons name to it, bit cheap all over? IDK - has anyone brought / tried it? reviews?
7.
Really nice idea, but a shame it's not metal. I built a board a couple of years ago from an Ikea shelf unit, and the darn thing turned out HUGE.
The gorm board? yeah I did the same, and had the same trouble with it, no bag big enough to take it anywhere!
8. Badderer - yeah, to true buddy. Would a sansamp / preamp be something vital when using a power amp as a cheap alternative to 'real' amps?
9. Sea Machine withdrawn. Everything now on eBay.
10. 3 great pedals for a bargin, I've got the gas not the cash, GLWTS although I doubt these will be about long.
11. Im in London and we don't use places that charge to hire out equipment, be it backline or drums, on top of room costs. Drummers should bring cymbals, I mean, there just as much hastle as a bass in a hard case. Always spilt costs between the band, in the past when recruiting we usually don't charge if someone has come down to try out.
12. Ashdown still about for pretty much as new unit! Come try it out and grab a bargain!
13. Elephantgrey - imagine two flanger hoax's. PM me offers if you want - type bump.
14. Nice one guys, I think I've over simplified things and not appreciated these pedals and there applications. I'm not a tone freak at all and usually get sound guy to Mic up if needing pa. I only have one band and don't play frequently enough to warrant a preamp pedal. I suppose its a pragmatic solution to a problem I've not had.
15. Hmm, the 6 into 2 mixer looks great, but a bit rich at £150. Also, I hate the term 'wall art'.
16. I'm not really sure where the benefit lies in pre-amps and why there's a lust over certain models and makes. Are they just a pragmatic solution for gigging?

I get that a DI is good for going straight into the PA system, sure. (other small boxes can do it for a fraction of the price.)
I get that they might replicate the sound of amps, but: if I'm trying to get an Ampeg sound through a Tech21VTBass pedal, wont it still sound horse sh*t through a piece of japcrap amp and cab?
I get that pre-amps are nether EQ's, Boosters, Compressors - are they just gloried tone boxes (not saying that that isnt great if youve got the other kit to make that happen).
I know Im being a simpleton, but why? Ive missed the thought pattern with these pedals.
17. http://www.rogerlinn...nn-support.html STOCK PHOTO - OPEN TO TRADES - Unit for sale comes boxed with power supply £115 posted UK mainland. Sweet unit here. I'm really impressed with the range of achievable effects and how genuinely usable they are. Un like most multi effects, the super tweekable parameters are easy to get the hang off and clearly effect the sounds/tones you're getting back. I have owned a POD XT Live and this little pedal is, in my opinion, better at getting usable patches and can store just as many. If you noodle about with home recording this is definitely for you, the drum machine and sounds available are instantly in John Carpenter territory but can expand to cover a lot more. There's seriously not much low end loss and the filters to help find tone with loads of range - plus when I used this with a bass the BB xotic filled it out. Selling because its a digital pedal. I primarily used and brought this unit to help shape drone tones on the fly and the slight adjustments were clearly audible (when you're changing multiple parameters) which didn't fit into our analogue set up and sound. So this isn't getting used as much and I'm an 'always on' effect guy with a bass so I'd like to sell and sort out the board properly. I think the internal chips can be swapped so you can update this to a AdrenaLinn III, however I wasn't too sure if the updates were that worth the time, you have that option though.
18. Ashdown MAG 300 210 combi. - £200 I've had the cones replaced and they still sound new so you can break them in to your sound, this is reflected in the price as its AS NEW. You are more than well come to come over to E4 and test this unit out. Played flat this is a great combi for the money but if you want extras, it has them. - Stock photo. imgupload BLURB:At the heart of the MAG C210T-300 combo lies a feature-packed bass preamp with rotary bass, middle and treble controls, along with supplementary rotary controls providing 15dB of cut and boost at 220Hz and 1.6kHz. Additionally, front panel push switches for Bright and Deep settings provide instant access to attacking and warm, rounded sounds respectively and, on the subject of low-end response, the trademark Ashdown sub-harmonic generator is ready and able to deliver truck loads of earth moving tone if called upon. Fueled by a potent 300W power section, C210T-300 combo features inputs for active and passive instruments, along with an effects send and return, a tuner/line output and a balanced DI output for direct connection to a mixing console. The combo delivers its payload via a pair of 10" drivers, supplemented by a high-frequency tweeter for even greater top-end bite. [s]Peavey 410. £125 [/s] SOLD! currently being used with a backline 600 and sounds LOUD. Heavy as hell but great work horse cabs, no problems. This is at my rehearsal space in E17 but again, more than well come to come over and try it out! All handles are secure, peavey cab bit scuffed around the back edges and Ashdown still furry! Better pictures to follow. Will meet halfway within reason, UK only, not really thinking about posting either of them. 19. Akai Deep Impact. Or don't believe the hype and try the Digitech, Boss, korg, ehx, or any other brands. I could go into it the nuances and subjective elements of sound but I just didn't have the time.
20. I had one and sold it through BC, it was a devi ever 'spectacular enema' or something like that.
21. Lol, thanks. Its just a build thumb piano with a desk draw, some grounding bars, pieces of coat hanger and mic set up. There's a dry and effect signal chain. the COG sculley is a fix'd fuzz clone with bigger balls. Tom puts amazing LPF's on his gear and the sculley has one for the out put signal, its like the one on the COG octive pedal the T65, which we all know is capable of mad dubby wub wub wub's. The hog loves the sculley, but, thinking about it, I might be able to replace it with the T65 and get similar results. I have tried this with a rat tail with the momentary switch feedback mod and the sculley def makes the added effect chain more 'industrial dub' and weird/haunted. in the photo I hadn't really found the best setting, but the sculley can also go super gated and mental with both fuzzes (and their subsequent filters engaged) which is great with the thumb piano because its naturally i reverby type instrument so its a serious bit of kit when used and balanced right (with feedback issues do to the acoustic mic set up). I'm using it soon at a Moon Ra show in Bristol 20th if anyone wants to come along.
22. Am I right in thinking that a compressor with reduce a lot of noise and hiss coming through modulation / delayed effects?
23. Not bass related but still loving the Sculley! V tempted to look at COG overdrive next.
