  1. I stupidly traded a T65 with a beautiful custom enclose, that filter on the down octave is huge. One thing would have stopped me from trading it and thats an expression in for the down octave filter, that would have been unreal fun - but since I have a hog and dont wprry too hard about real eatate I stupidly traded. But - I got custom COG dirt box for it which is a vital piece of kit! Massive.
  2. Anyone got one on preorder? Obviously the hype machine is PR but could anyone confirm if these indeed give 'best tone ever'.
  3. LPF being: low pass filter. These stop the high frequency of signal passing through, it makes the tone darker/flatter/warmer. An octaver should replicate your note an octave down (or up, there are pedals that do both, simultaneously), this doesnt mean that the tone will be effected but the note will be lower. What some people have mentioned is dropping the original signal out, this, again may effect the note and tone and explain the pedals better. An octaver should sound like your playing an octave lower down the threat board, a LPF would make the tone bassier and less bright and a warmer thudiness. I would use a LPF, some pedals have both octaver and LPF, like the COG T65. Listen to some YouTube clips, but sometimes these effects are lost on little speakers. What set up and speakers are you intending to play through as in your band, as you could use a Digitech Meatbox, but thats a bit serious deoending on yoyr needs.
  4. Is that usable in a song structure in any way?
  5. I had the xt live and it was so easy to record from, I wish I kept it for that alone. Good sounds and simple enough too. Mates got B3 and every now and then he plays a patch hed been working on that sound 99.9% the same as one of my boutique pedals, it takes him a while mind you. So xtlive or B3.
  6. Are you wanting to replace these pedals to simplify the chain, or are you after random name drops? You could replace the first three (past tuner) with an Octron if you use an octive up with slight fuzzy gain and some clear voiced anologue sub. But the pog was mention - why not look at the hog, a better pedal imho Eqd pedal is cool but I find unpredictable pedals frustrating, and im no tone freak. If you just want to know different effects then a cheap second hand zoom unit or the like will help clarify what you want, or hit YouTube.
  7. Any thoughts guys? I cant find the build thread mentioned nor much information about those drivers. EMV maybe?
  8. The Pb50 SB I ordered only days ago arrived already! I gave it about a 20 min run through yesterday and as many have said the quality is great for the price and tge bass isnt bad either, amazing for 40notes delivered from germany- within a week! Stiff tuners and tone volume knobs. Fret buzz and scrappy guard edging in places. All absolutely minor minor details in my book as perfectly functional bass with swagger. The lead socket fixing does not fit flush with the body, I could probably mend that anyhow and im sure thats the only real thing that makes this bass a deko, all other things I think I can fix.
  9. Its all about music appreciation. The one thing I wouldnt overlook is that whilst we know audiences can be indifferent to the tone, they can also not understand its impact that it has on them understanding and recieving the music. I think you have to accept that whilst an audience may listen more wirh they're eyes than theyre ears, feel thr music through atmosphere, there is a definite detailing of the music through tonaility. Basically, if a punter at a gig had a good time listening to the band but understood nothing about gear, tonality and EQ set ups, that still doesnt mean they didnt enjoy the tonal qualities of the bass, it doesnt mean they woukd have enjoyed relative boomy bass soup delivered through a less well considered set up. Its goes back to being about art appreciation, if you have the means and the desire to communicate within a certain voice then do it, its all about art appreciation - be that lofi noise or high fidelity mastering.
  10. After having an Ashdown for years and mucking about with that sub octave button, I dont think it adds anything decent to the sound. I think the effect on the Ashdown was poor and this was made worse by having to use it as an always on type effect. I have (better) octavers in my signal chain, but I think having effects in bass amps is a bit tricky as they encourage 'always on' use and the ones ive heard arent always good/usable, far from it actually. I think its just a USP, theres better sounds, even muddy sounds, you can get elsewhere but its always rocknroll hitting the sub button.
  11. So, did I mention these werent going to win a beauty contest. Atleast looking in the cabs ( I think) know how to chain them together bridged from amp. Amp to left cab input, right input to other cab - I only looked in the back of the really scappy one but any heads up would be great otherwise. I have no idea what the W of these drivers are, I picked them up with a Laney B1 so should handle 500 each hopefully... Yep, I should have remembered / phitied how they were wired.Cheers
  12. How rude of me to post this and not check back... I will post pictures tomorrow, thanks chimike
  13. Theres a lot of talk about basses being playable after a good set up, well, what is that and how should you go about it?
  14. Well, I got this, ive just receives rhe email so quite excited to see how thia plays.
  15. https://m.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pb_50_sb_vintage_serie_deko.htm?o=5&ref=mal_a_5&search=1442330899 Get in!!! What does it mean when the decos are to order, are they going to smash it up a bot then stick a D on it?
  16. Hey shockwave, thanks for organising this but I cant make it tomorrow as im relying on frienda and family to help with the flat and there diaries mean im staying in tomorrow. Priorities huh . Have fun everyone and im annoyed to be missing Juans noodling and meeting you guys.
  17. I might mean exactly that. Dang. Will be looking imto it, cheers.
  18. I have an ebs unichorus thats amazing pitch mod, I have two and you can get a thick dense hammond warble/rumble running two side by side in chain. I have picked up a EQD grand orbitor on here and thats really pronounced and can and alot to the tone and the vibrato effect is neet too. Personally, im starting ti think that all modulation effects should have expression pedal inputs for the modulation parameters as ive yet to find (exclusing subtle chorus) an effect that can be constantly on and/or not sound Bizzare when activated mid song. Sorry to be so general, bit check out the ebs deffinitely. Fair cheap now too.
  19. I have a rat tail and my ears miss it the moment I try and 're-organise' my signal chain. I like things bright with growls. Let me know how this does you.
  20. Hi guys. A while back I picked up a head with what I was told was an acoustic 406 model cabinet except the bins had been seperated into two very light weight cabs. Has anyone have any details about this model is I wanna make sure im connecting them right with the right loads. Google let down pn thia occation.
  21. Great thread! As a self taught player of some 14 odd years I think my techniques are 'ok' but my music theory is awful. Plus I only know a few songs that ive bothered to learn by ear... Im deffinitely at the point where I wouldnt see learning others lines as a waste of time and this thread will head me in right direction. suggestion: Could people stipulate the tuning for each song too as I would like go go back to the 'normal' tuning of E,A,D,G so would choose songs in that set up. Just a thought.
