  8. Howdy [attachment=115503:march12 018.JPG] Up for grabs my 88/89 stingray. 4 string, 4bolt neck, 3band eq, older style bridge with mutes (minus foam) A Superb bass but has a couple of modifications. firstly at some point in its life the bass was fretless. the fretless board has been replaced with a birdseye maple flamed one. the work was completed by Martin Peterson at the Gallery in London and the workmanship is flawless as you would expect from Martin. The neck is visually stunning both front and rear. THe body has been refinished. The bass previously was burgandy/red as there is evidence of this in the neck pocket. The bass has been refinished in white however this has not beeen done professionally but from a distance all looks well. I had every intention of getting a proffesional refinish done (around £120) but the white/maple combi looked really good on some band photo's I had taken and so it got lost. Sound wise, that big fat stingray tone is there. If you want a bass you can just plug in and play then this is the one. If you can look past these mods you are in for a bargain. [attachment=115504:march12 014.JPG] [attachment=115505:march12 015.JPG] [attachment=115506:march12 016.JPG] Generally a late 80's ray will set you around £1000-£1200. So this is one hell of a bass for the money but I appreciate it has been devalued by the finish and the neck. It is a reluctant sale as this is my go to bass but im again trying to make the full time switch to 5 string bass (again!!!) and this bass is not helping my quest. I think you will struggle to find anything that plays and sounds like this baby for the money I can provide further photos if required £500 collected from Birmingham or posted for £520 looking for sale and no trades please Thanks for looking Regards Mark
  9. Howdy [attachment=115501:ipod 064.JPG] [attachment=115502:ipod 066.JPG] Up for grabs is a fiesta red squire precision bass strung with flats and looking very pino like. 1 and a half years old in excellent condition, cracking basses for the money, build quality is superb and it feels like a much more expensive instrument than it actually is and is a very good sounding bass too. looking for £200 collected from Birmingham or will post anywhere in the U.K for around £15. if you let me have your email address, i can ping you accross some more pics if you wish. Many thanks for looking Regards Mark
  10. Howdy up for grabs is an aguilar 8ohm 350watt cabinett. 11. Had a very pleasent deal with Mark, many thanks. bass as described, packaged well. excellent communications throughout cheers buddy!! regards Mark
  12. Check out some live tracks from the band sade if you want a bass that you can plug in, play, that will sound great and sit in the mix easily with minimum amount of messing with tone controls then a stingray will do all these things. each man for themselves, precisions get so much praise on this site but im still unable to get a decent sound out of one, after owning 60;s 70's 80' and current day ones! i love jazz basses but other than "super jazz active monsters" i feel they also lack punch just my 2 penies worth, its subjective but thought i would even out the ballance!!
  13. never really considered how much strings effect the sound so much. obviously new strings are much brighter and old strings sound dull. the (heavy guage) strings on my stingray were sounding a touch dead so i swapped them for a much brighter sounding (and lighter guage string) from my jazz bass. the loss in volume was immense, hardly any output, even my passive precision sounded louder. Ive now restrung the stingray with the old dead fat guage strings and..voilla......big fat bass sounds once again. active bass tonnes louder than my passive p and jazz basses. very wierd
  14. Sold a vintage fender to thumperbob, very easy to deal with Many thanks, Bob for a painless deal regards Mark

  17. If you ring a local carpet fitting company, they would/should reccomend a product they use surely personally I think that porridge is the best adhesive by far ( have you ever tried getting it out of the bowl, dried 24hrs later?)
