1. Ive just brought a bass from a newbie with only 11 posts. I agreed a price sent him the cash through bank transfer without even knowing his surname, address or phone number. I have a lot of faith in this site, and the fact that bass players are generally the nicest and most modest people around. Everyone I have met through this forum have been first class people. It kind of restore's my faith in human kind. Under no other circumstances would I part with money not knowing any details other than a user name and a first name in any other line of business. have faith in bass players... they are the greatest regards Mark

9. Howdy I cannot beleive the number of stingrays for sale currently, they really are superb. Anyway my reasons for sale are these. 1. I have just brought another stingray and do not need 2 basses that are the same 2. the taxman requires me to pay him some money Ernie ball 2001 stingray with 3 band eq, rosewood board, 6bolt neck currently sporting the natural look. nice and lightweight and plays and sounds just like a ray should. recently set up, fairly low action with elexirs strings too with plenty of zing and ping. superb fat punchy tones. Why is it so cheap? THere are no issues with this bass other than the finish, as I describe below. the bass was originally a solid colour but I decided that I were going to have it refinished in sunburst. I always wanted a sunburst ray but could never find one (apart from a new one) I had an aquaintence who works in a joinery shop remove the finish accordingly. I never got round to a refinish- with gigs on a weekly basis and this being my main axe of choice there was no convenient time. My joiner friend the bass looks ok but on closer inspection it can be seen that the body section is constructed of 2 pieces of different wood with one side of the body being a darker grain than the other. I realise now that when ernie ball make these they probably are not so selective on the wood choices when the bass is a solid colour as opposed to a finish where you can see the wood. From the front there is no real issue, the worst affected area is the lower horn on the rear that is not generally visable. if you can overlook this, then you will get a real bargain or if you have the time/inclin to get the bass refinished- the price reflects this. £450 Collected from Birmingham or £475 posted anywhere in the UK- bass comes with MM hard case Not looking for trades thanks (although i do fancy a road worn jazz!!) Regards Mark
10. Howdy, When will I ever learn??? Im simply not cut out for 5 string basses, after several atempts (overwater, shuker, yamaha, stingray) I am admitting defeat and so this has to go. Purchased recently from silverfoxnik this mid 90's bass was constructed in Japan where they are renowned for their quality control. Really well put together and solid as a rock. Maple neck with rosewood board- 6 bolt neck construction which is nice and thin . Ash body finished in transparent blackweighing in at around 9lbs- 34" scale with a tight and puncy B string. full specs for this model can be read here: http://usa.yamaha.co...rb5/?mode=model This example has been heavily modified. A previous owner has replaced the standard yamaha electronics with an Audere preamp and a pair of nordstrand fat stack pickups- these modifications alone cost over £400. The range of sounds available is unbeleivable, this preamp is so versatile. It is also the most powerful and loudest bass I have ever played due to the upgraded electronics. 16. mark bass is lighter, therefore better.
17. the original video is first class. beyone looks fitter and sounds better in a rehersal than live on stage in a full on cocert.... great pair as well.(much bigger than i thought) Im kinda takin a shine to her the band are ok too......for a bunch of women!!!! shoot me down for being sexist, but men are better!
18. unfair!!! depends on taste, if you are commisioning fodera to build to your spec choices are unlimited. i.e 4/5/6/7 string, thru neck, choice of pickups and preamp, facing woods fender would assign a master builder who would build you the perfect fender to your taste, but Iassume it would be a 4 or 5? precision/jazz or jaguar with stock pickups/electrics Me personally would buy a previously enjoted yamaha TRB5 for under £500!!!!
19. PM's replied to Bass now on hold pending payment
20. thanks kindly for supplying the pics happyjack, much better than my ones.
