This is a stunning 5-string Alleva Coppolo with build and action to die for and a huge range of P tones due to the quality AC pickup and John East P-Retro preamp combination. In pristine condition (just some fine surface scratches on the black scratchplate, otherwise in pristine nick).

Previously owned by Happy Jack (who fitted the P-Retro) and Flanker. It is a wonderful bass but I want to get some funds together for an old double bass and this is the least used of my three electrics. I'm after £2,000. I'm in West London, just south of Hammersmith if you wanted to inspect/collect. Please note I will be abroad for a week from tomorrow so cannot post until later the following week.

And finally, here's Flanker's original ad with some great close up pictures (note this is pre P-Retro addition): http://basschat.co.u.../page__hl__kbp5

This bass was originally debuted at NAMM 2009: http://badassbasspla...hp?f=12&t=11462

This is a genuinely lush bass. It's a delight to play, looks uber-cool, utterly nails the whole P-bass sound (as you'd expect) but also retains the whole P-bass playing experience by sticking to 19mm string spacing at the bridge.

It's also beautifully built, and I had the P-Retro unit installed by the guitar-tech who has worked on every single one of my basses. That unit is a non-intrusive, entirely reversible mod by the way.

In case you're wondering, yes I want it back, and no I don't have any money. :gas:

I've always loved the look of this bass, ever since it was first hanging on the wall in the Bass Merchant (if I recall correctly?)
Thank god I don't want to venture into 5 strings or I'd be in a quandary.
Best of luck with the sale

Thanks Jack! Clearly I would entertain a trade here against a quality old double bass, with cash potentially going out to the other party depending on the bass. I am after something that is good for pizz (I don't do arco) with big, warm sound and good projection. Can be a vintage ply or quality old hybrid or all-solid. Bumps and scrapes don't bother me as its par for the course with old DBs but neck breaks or split seams that require repair are out AFAIC! And not being awfully feedback-prone is also important!!!!

Hmm, I have a bit of money in the bank from selling a Fender Pino CS that keeps going back to it's original owner .
I had a 79 Antiguan P-Bass which I sold to some chap in Ireland , which I now regret .
Any more pics to increase the level of temptation, ??
Cheers
Martin.

Hi Martin, if I can be cheeky - here is Jack's photo album of the bass, done not long before I bought it (the bass is in the same excellent condition now) http://m1128.photobucket.com/albums/h4ppyjack/Alleva%20Coppolo%20KBP5%202009%20CURRENT/?sa=true

Don't use that link - it's to Mobile Photobucket and the image sizes are tiny. Go here instead: http://s1128.photobucket.com/albums/m496/h4ppyjack/Alleva%20Coppolo%20KBP5%202009%20CURRENT/

These photos were taken before I had the P-Retro installed. The only visible difference is that the bass now has a pair of stacked knobs.
