PCGC now available on the high street
Clarky replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Not how I took that comment. I took it to mean that, ahem, "vintage" basses can ultimately end up as valueless firewood. Although in the case in point, its probably there already, without going to the unnecessary expense of matches -

Geoff bought a Barefaced cab from me. Quick payment and friendly comms, can't ask for more from a buyer!

I bought this recently as I decided to move back towards short scale (plus my Rick). However, a few days later, lady luck intervened by shamelessly flouting a dream short scale (Serek Midwestern in capri orange with competition stripes). Which I bought 🙄 So we have here a super quality 2006 CIJ Mustang with very few minor marks, none egregious. Plus its in the rarely seen sunburst livery (most are oly white or fiesta red). Lightweight (7.9 pounds), as these basses almost always are, and with a super slim neck and J proportioned nut width. Fitted with new D'Addario 45-105 nickel rounds (pics show Mustang flats which I have sold separately) and comes with functional but used generic padded gigbag. Collect SW13 London or delivery at cost (UPS, probably £20-30). £750 collected, post at cost within UK. No offers given you may wait many months for another good condition sunburst CIJ example to appear. No trades, sorry, trying to downsize collection.

NBD. 2006 CIJ Mustang in the very rare sunburst paint scheme (most are oly white or fiesta red). I bought this before the Easter bank holiday, only for a dream s/s bass to appear (see next post) so may have to sell this on quickly even though its fab 😬 -

PS, for an extra £100 I could also throw in a semi-rigid Reunion Blues Aero bass bag (new cost £169) which is far better for transporting the bass to/from gigs than the thinner, less substantial Lull soft gig bag. Specs of Reunion Blues bag here; https://www.andertons.co.uk/brands/reunion-blues/reunion-blues-aero-series-bass-guitar-case -

I bought this from @walshy a few months back and its a stunner looks wise. I am not so comfortable with the right hand ergonomics though (not supposed to anchor thumb on single coil pickup and I play mainly finger style) as I found out at a gig a couple of weeks back. Plus I need to raise some funds - so no trades, sorry. Weighs about 7.6 pounds, great condition (just a couple of minor indentations in paintwork, done before my ownership), and has Lull soft gig bag. Edit: now wearing brand new La Bella Low Tension Flats, so its super slick and errrrr low tension (!) across the fretboard. Pickup London SW13 or post within UK at cost (about £25-30) via UPS. Has changed hands on BC before. Here is busccini's ad with more pics.

There's a suspiciously cheap new OBC112 on eBay (£285). Not sure I trust seller which has some positive feedback but only as a buyer yet sounds like a business? Anyhow, someone might fancy the gamble (has eBay money back guarantee) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313953081226?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=0lixvzoptsy&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=eqlPJw_SSty&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

It also depends on context. The audience at the Dog and Duck couldn't give a rat's @ss about the low mids vs high mids balance of your bass and amp (and will generally yell for Sex on Fire or Don't look back in anger) whereas if you are playing originals in big venues with a dedicated fan base your tone matters more. Speaking as a Dog and Duck man 😀

Horses for courses. I have a particular bass as my wife likes the colour. I have another bass (clue: R*ck) which I am persisting with as it looks cool AF but know deep down will not last. There's an indefinable personal aspect to what makes you feel good. That may be a cheapo Squier, it may be an uber-expensive Alembic, or something in between.
