  1. To counter my negative, contrarian post on The Who, my most played artist of the last decade is Vicente Amigo, the master nuevo flamenco guitarist. However many times I post up links to his music on the forum, it basically results in tumbleweed!
  2. Sacrilege on BC but I think The Who are utter pants. Ahead of (for me) the Rolling Stones in the list of the most overrated bands ever (at least I like Gimme Shelter, can't think of a single Who song I like)
  3. I bought this beauty from the forum 10 years ago. Lovely golden/honeyed colour, some long-since fixed cracks and the neck was reset before I owned it (original FS thread here, explaining provenance and luthier work carried out: Sounds deep, full and fantastic and is fitted with a David Gage Realist pickup and Thomastik Spirocore (medium gauge) strings. Why sell? Well I got the opportunity to buy back my very first DB from Happy Jack which has big sentimental value, even if its a lower quality plywood Zeller, plus I barely ever gig DB these days, so my flatback has basically become a beautiful ornament requiring occasional dusting! Collection only from SW13 London (Barnes) and priced more than fairly at £2500, which is £500 less than the £3k I paid a decade ago. I can supply a basic Hidersine gigbag (brand new replacement as mice ate my other one ....) or maybe you prefer to bring your own heavier duty gigbag to transport it?
  4. Bought some DB strings and all was good!!! Many thanks and ATB, Clarky
  5. The culprit has been identified
  6. Fender Rat-ocaster Always preferred it to the single coil Jerry-caster
  7. Is it good for Rat-tle?
  8. Same guy just posted 'Class D cheese - diabolical' Obviously a former TalkVole member
  9. Not having gigged DB since 2019, my gigbag has been in storage in my garage since then. Imagine my surprise when I pulled it yesterday to discover that it has been half-eaten and ravaged by mice. I feel a new commercial opportunity for mice-relic'd bass gear under the Road(ent)worn banner. Kerboom tish
  10. Reminds me of JPJ's triple omega Alembic. Congrats on something a bit different and not Fender shaped
  11. A couple of my pics, which show the colour really nicely
  12. Stunning bass, punchy and light as a feather. GLWYS, Walshy
  13. Thats what I found, quieter even than DR nickel rounds like Sunbeams and Pure Blues. I suspect that is the basis of the flat's comparison in marketing spiel but they do sound like mellow rounds to me
  14. Last price drop (really) £750 plus delivery at cost
  15. Super Twin is 3cm wider (48cm vs 45cm). And yes I have OCD about amp overhangs!!!
  16. @Happy Jackthat does not look like a BB2, nor is Matamp a subsidiary of Ashdown. To the best of my knowledge 🤣
  17. To revive this thread, has anyone got a pic of an ABM 600 on a Barefaced Big Baby 2? Interested to see if it looks silly with the overhangs or whether its barely noticeable. Reason for asking: I have a BB2 and am pondering a powerful amp to match it (and ABM 600 is in the mix due to adulation on the forum). Thx in advance
  18. Ollie bought a Markbass AC combo from me. All good. Quick payment, friendly comms. Can't ask for more!!!
  19. Doesn't sound especially clean on this video (albeit I can see the Gain is set pretty high). But I hear you on the 'booty' front
  20. The post above says this bass is sold
  21. Hi Ashdown peeps, any views on the LB550? Doesn't seem to have been massively popular (still selling them at reduced £550 sale price on Ashdown website), yet an LB30 valve front end coupled to a 550W digital amp sounds like a recipe for a serious Orange Terror Bass competitor?
  22. Nope, a used (2019) fireglo 4003. Its a light one at 9.0 pounds, which solves one of my problems with my previous jetglo 4003 (which was the wrong side of 9.5 pounds). Now that I am more used to the vagaries of the 4003S, lets see if I can cope with the ergonomics of a 4003. We will see. Arrives tomorrow, hopefully
  23. Enjoying it, played 2 gigs with it now and .... ermmmm .... might have accidentally ordered a 2nd Ricky
  24. April 2022 and some time in 2012 (wearing zombie make up before you ask)
  25. I believe they last for months if not years, based on what I have read. They are even lower tension than the flats at about 122 pounds per set vs 135 pounds, from memory. I have a set but my only issue is they need space to vibrate, being looser, and so the action has to be cranked up a bit (and the truss rod loosened). SO there is a bit of a trade-off between ultra low tension and higher action in my view
