Very technically adept (and it's all I can do to tap my foot in time!) That said, it's unlistenable bilge to me I'm afraid. I like some classical (Ravel, Debussy) and Puccini operas but Mozart leaves me cold. I must be too young

I too am 47. I am definitely getting better but that comes from playing with other musicians rather than practice per se. As for the talent question, technically I am pretty poor and I have next to no theory knowledge (not for want of trying, I just don't get it). However I like to think I can play basic basslines in a very dependable manner, am always punctual and am proactive in our band. I think these are as useful as pure talent. Not blowing my own horn either - back problems

Nik, I presume you will be having a raffle and thus need some bass 'stuff' donations? I will have a dig around and see what I can come up with. Definitely have some vgc tab books (Bilbo!) kicking around, a Precision tort s/p and maybe some other bits and bobs -

As they will be re-fins whatever colour you choose, it makes no difference whether you go original colour or not IMHO. Forget that they were both oly white and go for whatever colours you like best. I vote for a fiesta red P (a la Pino) and a sonic blue or seafoam green J

Cheers C[/quote] Most Midget users on BC (eg Happy Jack) say its as loud as you would ever need for a pub type gig. Alex says on the Barefaced site that its louder than most 2x10 cabs and I would NEVER argue with Alex about cab-type stuff! But I have never gigged it so its difficult for me to really state anything firmly as I've only briefly tested it at home at louder than 'normal home playing levels'. Re: holding the cab, I am out of the UK for a few days from tomorrow and so will be talking to the BCer concerned at the weekend most probably.

UPDATE: I have bought a nearly-new new vintage-style Compact off a BCer, so the trade offer is no longer there. My Midget (oo err, missus) is still on hold for a BCer - if he decides against it, it will go up for general sale.

In my experience Alex isn't always the quickest to reply to emails, sometimes taking several days. I guess thats the customer service downside of being a small busy operation. I bet he will get back to you ... in his own good time! I don't have a number, I'm afraid, in answer to your question

Great weekend though.[/quote] I missed Bill Bailey (as my youngest wanted to keep our positions for Slipknot, his fave band) but I heard from others that he was disappointing. Shame as I like him a lot normally. My highlights of Sonisphere were Metallica (pretty much the whole set), Slayer playing "Raining blood", Motorhead "Overkill" and Slipknot "Duality". Just wish I had packed a rain mac!

Sorry to detract but I thought Fred Durst was useless and diluted a good band (I agree the bass sounded really good and Wes B is an ace guitarist). His audience interaction was atrocious. " So guys, what song do you wanna hear next?" ....tedious 30-45 second silence while crowd yells out song titles. "OK, you wanna hear Nookie or Douchebag. Which one? Nookie" (huge roar) or "Douchebag" (a few voices) "So we're gonna do Douchebag"

This is getting embarrassing, its me again! This time Jack bought my lovely old (well more than 10 years old, which I guess is not old for a DB!) Zeller 3/4 DB. It really is time that he, Beedster and I formed a gear-share commune, would save all this unnecessary hassle with stuff like money and payments
