1.
You haven't seen me on the Theory & Technique section have you
Whats Theory & Technique?
2. But Nige, when have you EVER talked about bass on BassChat? PS, I am sure you are right about having a useable bass and the rest being down to the player, by the way
3. This is a genuinely fabulous fretless and if I had managed to sell my fretless Wal this would already have been mine (again!) The buyer will be one lucky dude (or dude-ette). Get in quick!
4. Drat - didn't sell on eBay despite there being 60 watchers (a record for an item I have tried to sell) Still FS at £2500 - please no offers below this "for a quick cash sale" (I have had a few offers of this type from BC and eBay) as this is my minimum and I am not desperate to sell such a fine instrument at any price. I would though entertain p/x deals against a Takamine TB10, a US Fender fretless P or trade against an Alleva Coppolo 4-string. Cheers I will not be bumping this thread any more so - if anyone interested discovers this in a few weeks/months time and the bass is not marked as SOLD - please PM me.
5. Very Jaco-esque rhythm line and nice lead playing Bilbo. Very impressed - and the Wal detractors would surely find it hard to argue with the tone
6. Bump for 8-9pm appearance at main stage of Arundel Festival on the South Coast tomorrow night
7. Many congrats Dave - great to hear you are fully 'back on your feet' and ready to hit the venues again
8.
Hi again, Got a reply from Tony this morning - "The reason the D string is that colour is there is bronze wire showing through the outer layer, we try and get the G+D strings to look similar to gut" Cheers, Daf
Being dumb here but I thought SS's were entirely synthetic, hence they cannot be used with mag pickups. This imples there is metal core?
9. .. and if you like what you hear from Bilbo's clips, I happen to have the same model (a 1983 Mk 1 fretless) for sale http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...=0#entry1314644. Shameless plug of the day
10. A few more pics: Edit: now on eBay but happy to pull listing for a BC'er http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...984.m1558.l2649
11. Courtesy of the collapsing financial markets my income this year looks set to follow in the same direction. Hence I am putting this up FS again. I have cut the price further and would accept £2500, not including delivery, but to include the brown Wal case. Would lop £200 off if the case were not included (as I have a buyer for the case). Prefer cash but I have listed possible part-exchange trades in my earlier post, to which list I would add a new series (ie, with VTC) Rick 4003. The priority here is to raise cash
12. Just sold Stephen a Barefaced Midget T cab. He was a total gent to deal with and I'm very happy to post his first feedback on BC.
13. I read an interview with the Ric boss (John Hall IIRC) a few years back in which he specifically cited TI flats as having been 'almost made' for Rics given their tension and tonal characteristics
14. I've not had any interest in this lovely bass, which has genuinely surprised me. Furthermore the 'London bus effect' seems to have happened with another nice (and cheaper) fretless Wal FS on BassChat and one on eBay. Hence it looks like a bad time to be selling a fretless Wal and so I am therefore withdrawing my bass from sale. Meanwhile if anyone searches for a fretless Wal and finds this thread at some point in the future please PM me I remain interested in a p/x (with a slug of cash my way) against a fretless sunburst US Precision or a Takamine TB10
15. Sorry to the two posters above but this is now SOLD to gapiro, aka Stephen
16. I will live to pester you another day about your AC, Loz!
17. Just gorgeous! The 5 string brother of lozbass' lovely sonic blue LG4
18.
Bump (and smile) - lovely, classic and super-desirable bass
Thanks Loz! So my cunning plan to relieve you of your sonic blue AC fell on stony ground
19. Additional px or trade option: Alleva Coppolo Jazz 4-string only in 'classic' colour (sunburst, sonic blue etc)
20. A bit obscure but I would potentially entertain a trade plus cash my way for a Takamine B10 fretlless acoustic as the latter would come in useful for my new acoustic blues quartet spinoff from Rattlin Bone
21.
pm'ed
and replied
22.
Barry doesn't play fretless (just nice use of effects) But Davy Jay yes used a pick on his Fless a lot. Some of Carles Benevent's stuff is on fretless & he uses a pick. Rule 1 --- There are no rules!!! B
Isn't this fretless playing by Barry Adamson? If not, sure sounds like it!
23. The previous sale of this barely-used Midget T cab fell through as the tweeter housing was damaged, we believe by the courier company en route to my original buyer, Mr_Bassman (Keith). Alex at Barefaced has kindly taken the cab back and restored it to as-new condition and is holding it for me. As I am the happy owner of a Compact this Midget is surplus to my needs and up for sale again now that it is in perfect working order. Please note the cab will be dispatched to the buyer directly from Barefaced. As before its £475 posted including a custom padded cover. I am currently abroad with only sporadic internet access so this is more of a heads up. I will be back and able to deal with this mid-August.
24. Didn't Barry Adamson (Magazine, The Bad Seeds) and David Jay (Bauhaus) both play fretless basses with picks?
