  1. I use WhatsApp when I have dealt with Will. He usually replies within hours. Number here: 07946 023849
  2. I use these, really help with darker lighting https://glowtec.co.uk/fret-finders/
  3. ... not its not @cetera. Not even close! 854 basses. Wonder how many handbags his wife has? https://guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2024/8/musician-whos-shared-stage-with-legends-owns-worlds-largest-bass-guitar-collection
  4. I started on DB with a 3/4 Zeller in the mid/late 1990s. Ended up selling it to Jack as I "just had to have that vintage German flatback". Reel forward a decade or so and I bought it back from Jack. Lovely bass and the vintage thing is fully out of my system, the Zeller actually sounds just as good at a fraction of the price. So, to cut a long story short (I lost my mind), these are bazzing instruments and someone should buy this from Jack asap and enjoy it bigly.
  5. Yep. I have - a DB-friendly amp (GK MB150S) just in case I play DB live again ... I haven't played DB live in 6 years 😕 - a Markbass 121P combo in case I need a cleaner sound than my Orange TB based rig ... I not only do not need a clean sound in my current (goth) band but also every one of our gigs in the past year has had supplied back line so arguably I don't need an amp at all, let alone 3 ... - a "rawk" bass (Rick 4000) in case I play, well, rawk ... I auditioned for an AC/DC covers band a year ago which never got off the ground as both the drummer and vocalist failed to turn up to the first two rehearsals ... I should probably sell some of the above but my BC-addled brain would probably end up buying something else "just in case"
  6. I just bought it. Did I do wrong?
  7. I don't know how to photoshop and I'll wager many on this site can't do it either with the degree of skill required to fool most observers. If this deters just 1 scammer in 10 it's still a step forward to greater security on the site. As @ped says, if anyone has better suggestions maybe put them forward rather than just carp?
  8. Will @Silvia Bluejay need left handed post-it notes?
  9. Just bought a gorgeous Wilcock bass from Alex. Another excellent BC transaction, couldn't be happier! Many thanks, Alex
  10. Don't forget you will need to pay roughly 20% on top for VAT/import duty as the bass would be imported from the EU, so you will need to factor that into your sums

All work but chain mail is best for metal
  12. Olympics closing ceremony music section and the bassists for Air and Phoenix have each played US Mustangs and each had a piece of black tape obscuring the Fender logo???

The thing is, H.E.R. (she of the mimed guitar solo in Paris) had a Fender Strat with a clear unadulterated Fender logo????

  13. Allan bought a lovely retro Kay bass from me (apols it was a few months back). Super friendly, great comms. Another fab BCer!

I was thinking one of these tone socks might be good in my blues band

Inspired by Marcel Duchamp, apparently: https://www.guitarworld.com/features/mononeon-quilted-stereo I wonder if my rudimentary playing would benefit from an Alan Partridge style "ice white sock with navy blue double cadet stripe"?
  16. Nice crocs! PS, if it's sold, edit the title to the original post and it automatically locks. Lucky buyer too!
  17. Sean sold me a GK MB150S amp. Amp was as described and safely packed. All good! Many thanks
  18. Marc bought my Serek bass. Friendly and communicative throughout, a pleasure to do business with!
  19. Interesting poll results. No consensus whatsoever but, if you add in permutations of amps and cabs mentioned by various BCers, probably cetera (noun: multiplicity of bass equipment) wins
  20. No, toys!
  21. Not sure the ohmage would work with 4x 8ohm cabs! Anyhow, still for sale at this bargainaceous price. I briefly toyed with selling as a package with my CMD 121 combo but have decided to keep that as a more flexible sounding alternative to my valvey old school Orange rig.
  22. Change of heart. This provides more flexible sounds than my Orange Terror Bass rig, so it's a useful alternative. Withdrawing
  23. Wow, two aluminium basses - guessing the newbie is the one burns bass was selling? Still got the Kolstein as well, Jack?
  24. I now have an Orange amp and cab (valvey old school), a Markbass combo and extension (more flexible sounds) and incoming Gallien combo (for DB). Just wondered if the collective BC wisdom is that this is excessive or just standard for us bass-type folks?
  25. The newest version of Markbass' flagship Mini CMD 121 combo, the V (with all functions eg DI on top). Bought new a few months ago, never left house and I have since decided to go the way of separates (again, I know....) plus I have a cheaper combo (GK) incoming as a DB friendly backup. It's worth too much to gather dust. New prices in UK are typically £800+ (eg, Andertons and PMT £859 each) and it comes with the official padded cover (cost me another £60). Altogether this is in region of £900 new. I will take £700 collected in a public space (not my house) in SW13 (Barnes, south of permanently closed Hammersmith Bridge). Specs here: https://www.markbass.it/product/mini-cmd-121-p-v/
