  1. PS,to address one of @prowla comments about the neck, my 4000-to-4001 plays nicely with TI Jazz flats or low tension nickel rounds (40-100). It cannot cope so well with higher tension strings. So any potential buyer would have to be happy with low tension strings on this bass.
  2. I just peeped. No rout. Also, the neck is chunkier than my mongrel (more of a P feel than the closer-to-J feel of the 4000-to-4001)
  3. Thanks for the fulsome reply @prowla. I had no intention of not keeping it at option (a) "fun mongrel" but it could be restored to (b) albeit with the considerations you detailed. As far as scratchplate goes, Rickysounds makes a 4000 repro one in white, based on a 1973 4000, for £49.99. However, as said, I think option (a) is preferable and what I would have stuck with. As it happens, I just acquired a 1974 4000 (all original, pictured below) in jetglo as I like the simplicity and the sub-9 pound weight. PS, I am trying to cut my bass collection by one and also to defray the costs of my jetglo 4000.
  4. Sale fell through, so back up FS for £1450 including rough-and-ready gig bag. Add £25 on top for delivery. Note: I have had a guitar shop look over the intermittent electronics in the past several weeks. One failing pot was replaced, the soldering was tidied and the copper shielding was removed (as it was causing shorting issues) at a cost of £80 to me. All sorted now.
  5. Having just bought a bass and needing funds to defay the cost, this beauty is going up FS again. I am lowering the price, to £950 collected, £975 posted. Cheers!
  6. Bought a beautiful jetglo 1970s Rickenbacker 4000 from Steve. Lovely bass, well packed and great/friendly comms. Can't ask for more! Cheers!
  7. Next up for my (Goth/post punk) lot, The InSect. Saturday week at Aces & Eights in Norff Larndaaan
  8. PM coming your way
  9. There's loads for sale in UK, not shifting. Just seen the first price drop to below £4k. Still overpriced IMO
  10. I also have had a couple of Krivo pickups in my time. Really good sound quality, pretty authentic DB rather than fretless bass. I thought they were really good but sold due to switch to hybrid and gut strings. Going back some years, but I found them the best way to avoid feedback with steel containing strings
  11. Perfectly reasonable thread as it looks like an amp that might cater to a lot of bassists' needs/desires.
  12. BassDirect and others (eg BassBros and Andy Baxter) always price higher on Reverb because of the 8% selling fee, which they obviously don't incur on direct sales from their own online sites
  13. With my left hand issues, I also prefer the neck on the MIJ Mustangs. GLWYS Lozz
  14. Controversial, as so many BCers seem to adore them, but ELO's Mister Blue Sky Smug, sub-Beatles fluff (IMO)with a really annoying electronic vocal part "Mr Blue Sky - Mis - ter - Blue - Sky- yiye" ugh
  15. How about £975 collected, £999 delivered?
  16. I stand corrected. Maybe we can talk about his technique now,l?
  17. This popped up on instagram and it's a really nice edit of a couple of clips of Jamerson's playing that shows his unique 'hook' style. Incredible musician who never got the recognition he deserved while alive (and sadly succumbed to a foreshortened, alcoholic life). https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5tsepCOOBp/?igsh=MW45c2FqaThoeXcybA==
  18. Gotcha, I just checked on Google maps and it's a bit too far for me (a 3 hour round trip) but someone is going to get a bargain here. GLWYS!
  19. Whereabouts in NE London are you based?
  20. There are a lot of lovely basses in the FS forum, but this has to be up there with the most desirable. GLWYS
  21. Try me with a near offer!
  22. Sorry about the dust! Black gloss attracts it like a magnet
  23. Would £995 collected from SW13 London tempt anyone?
