Top quality electric upright bass made by Mo Clifton. Bought from the lovely Mr Bassman on BC but just not getting any use, so I am putting it up for sale. Comes with padded gig bag, knee and top extensions for balance, and now wearing low tension Spirocore Solo strings (can throw in gut-like Presto Nylon strings as well, if wanted, as seen in last pic). Bit awkward to post so collection/meet preferred in London (Hammersmith ideally) These generally run to around £1,000-1,300 second hand so I will accept the low end of this range. No trades.

Bought a few months ago from top BCer Harry and as minty as it gets (see pics). I have never gigged it as my GK MB500 plus BF One 10 mini-rig has delivered all my needs. Comes with cover. £550 collected from London (Hammersmith area) as I don't have a box large enough. No further explanation needed as you know the score. Sorry about the socks (last year's Fathers Day pressie ...)

I got this a couple of months back from Handbox at a cost including delivery from Poland of £680. You know the score (Mesa Walkabout on steroids). Literally used for less than 2 hours at home as my small rig (GK MB500 plus BF One 10) has covered my limited gigging needs and as my upright bass is better served by the Gallien amp. £590 including UK next-day post for a completely mint, essentially-unused amp, saving you £90 on importing one yourself. Or £580 collected from London (Hammersmith area), a saving of £100.

Based on this thread I downloaded Sinatra at the Sands. Just fabulous (the Basie Orchestra are so on top of their game it's amazing)

Adrian bought a double bass string off me (v expensive gut one) and all was good!
Obviously I respect your opinions no matter how dogshit they are.
Top response, TS!
Did you mention what basses were being used to Mrs C? And if so did she reply with a "oh, good grief! ", in a slightly exasperated manner? Because that's what Mrs Marvin would have done if I'd pointed such a thing out
On this occasion I kept the bass identification to myself :-)

I was there last night as well - Mrs C is a big fan. Not my cup of tea but, as stated above, they put on a very good show and the front man's banter was excellent. Bassist (geek alert) played a black Fender Jazz mainly but a black Jack Casady appeared for a song or two

Edgar Froese's untimely death made me drag out a copy of Ricochet which I hadn't listened to in years. Just sublime. Why did I forget it for so long?

Top marks Dave/Rev, superbly helpful response - and bang on the mark

Never really a fan but Visage was part of the backdrop to my musical youth (I bought the first Spandau Ballet single 'To cut a long story short' on release and flirted with New Romanticism). Makes me sad in an utterly selfish way, as I am of a similar age and he was there in the NME etc that I used to read avidly as a teen. I said it was a selfish viewpoint but thats how I feel

If I was nearer Scotland, I know what I would be buying. Rabbie's Duke is pure DB porn

Too many to mention, as I am of a certain age and thus reminisce! Just picking two though, from my early teens, Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - Genesis. Late teens, Closer - Joy Division

BOGOF ... also known as buy one [or] get one f*cked

The most highly praised metal wrapped gut G out there, as used by Chris Wood and other greats. Sounds fab with Spiro EAD but I am sticking with plain gut. Its only a month or so old, gigged a couple times and on the bass for perhaps 3 weeks. Virtually mint (or at least as mint as any DB string is having been fitted and then removed). £65 posted to you (UK). New price at Stringzone is £90 (Thomann is c.£85 inc post to UK but currently out of stock)

Anyone know Estuary Bass Company? Update: all sorted now
Clarky replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
Sorted, the owner (Dave) got back to me this evening with an apologetic email (they have moved premises and as a consequence missed stuff on the website) and has refunded. So all is good bar the delay (I have ordered a pickup cover from another supplier, hopefully arrives in next few days) -

Thanks Nige, nothing from the other email so far but I guess its a Saturday so best wait until Monday before deciding what to do -
Hi all, I occasionally jam and gig with a lovely collection of acoustic musicians in Brixton, known as the Umbrellabirds. Can be anywhere from a few to a dozen musicians (mandolins, acoustic guitars, vox, fiddle etc) on any given night. They are looking for a regular double/upright bass player to join them. They play an eclectic mix of Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings Machine, Uncle Tupelo, Oh Brother Where art Thou, Hank Williams etc. My side project Tupelo Uncles includes four of these fine folk. The Unmbrellabirds meet on a Monday night in the Queen's Head pub in Brixton (in the garden on nice evenings or inside otherwise) and play occasional gigs in the South London area too (maybe once every 1-2 months). I have played with them a few times and its very relaxed and good fun, its just that Monday nights are generally bad for me work-wise so I rarely make it. Anyone interested drop me a line and I can put you in touch with Jason Collins, the leader/organiser and all-round good egg
Not sure if this is any help. Phone number, Email and address. I think it's the same company, down at the Southend Estuary. http://www.schaller-...ass-Company.htm EDIT : The phone number is on a website, so not giving away private details.
cheers! Emailed again (different address), if I get no reply will call and take from there
