Well, I looked for one of these for years and one popped up in February in France (I have only ever seen one other in the UK) so I snaffled it. Its a fabulous bass in near-mint condition but I have to recoup the cost of a custom shop bass that just arrived and - in truth - I don't need a short scale back-up to my fabulous '71 Mustang (nothing touches it, in my opinion). So I would like to recoup my outlay of £1100 . Bear in mind, these are super-rare and its in amazing, next-to-unplayed-looking condition bar the typical swirls on the black pickguard (a new SG bass in standard cherry is £1,199). Delivery only in these strange times. PS, comes with fitted Gibson hard case which has a few scratches and dents. * Fundraiser so no trades, thanks * Background and pics here:

Echoing the chaps above. Perfect transaction on a lovely bass with great documentation on its journey to me. Top marks! Thanks Dave

This guy always plays with such joy (I know its not an album but ...). Milt Hinton. One of my all-time bass fave videos

OK, back up FS as the courier system still seems to be functioning effectively and peeps still seem to be happy distance buying/selling. I will drop price by £30 if I get to keep the black nylon flats and spare tort scratchplate, which would make prices: Bass + never-left-house Gruvgear Edge semi-rigid case + two sets of strings (fitted La Bella light flatwound, Ernie Ball [?] nickel rounds) = £845 delivered to UK, £870 delivered to mainland Europe OVNO

The C&W section is only the set-up for the first 15 or so mins as it relates to his very young years. Once he heads to music school it gets very interesting. Its an incredibly wide ranging documentary. Do persevere!

PS, this is only free to stream until 5th April. Its very enjoyable and wide ranging in its scope (various musical styles, politics, social history, great anecdotes etc)

Hey @Frank Blank take a listen to this. Not as well known as the Beyond the Missouri Skies album with Pat Metheny but just fabulous night time listening

Free to stream on vimeo for the next week. To my mind Charlie Haden elicited perhaps the most beautiful sound ever from a double bass through a combination of his vintage bass, his idiosyncratic technique, his innate sense of melody and his Spiro/Golden Spiral string combination. Interesting, politically-active life too but now sadly no longer with us. https://vimeo.com/399832399

Why do some BC sellers insist on buyer arranging courier?
Clarky replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
Well that escalated quickly. Good job I didn't mention the dirty knife -
Final cut. If no takers, bass is going back in its case for happier days. New low prices as follows: Bass + never-left-house Gruvgear Edge semi-rigid case + three sets of strings (D'Addario black nylon tapewound, La Bella light flatwound, Ernie Ball [?] nickel rounds) + unfitted Rebelrelic tort guard = £850 collected (while observing social distancing) £875 delivered to UK, £900 delivered to mainland Europe

To tidy this up, as there are various prices floating around: Bass + never-left-house Gruvgear Edge semi-rigid case + three sets of strings (D'Addario black nylon tapewound, La Bella light flatwound and the nickel rounds its currently wearing) = £900 collected (while observing social distancing) £925 delivered to UK, £950 delivered to mainland Europe

Why do some BC sellers insist on buyer arranging courier?

I normally put the hard case inside a cardboard box and pad it out with bubble wrap. The case itself is worth money and can get damaged in transit -

^^^ that's exactly my way of looking at it. I certainly do not, as a seller, think its all on the buyer if they arrange collection since it will have been me packing the item. -

No fuss, was just trying to understand -

I see, so its the risk it goes astray that prompts this? Maybe I am lucky but this has never happened to me once in the 100s of deals I have done on BC (the latter evidenced by the embarrassingly large number of pages of feedback I have)
