1. I like so many bassists but those that left an indellible mark on me are: 1. Chris Squire - my brother bought the Yes album back in the early 70's and the first album that I actually took notice of the bass player 2. Trevor Bolder - saw him play in '73 with Bowie in Hammersmith and was in awe - top sideburns also 3. Tony Levin - the person I would most like to play like....if only
2. I'm currently playing in a simple Bass/Single Guitar/Drums/Vocal line up and we play a wide range of covers from Guns and Roses to Lady Gaga and everything inbetween - I've always gone for a 'big' sound with a lot of bottom end but also some 'click' to the top end (certainly not dull)

4. Welcome aboard. Curious about going back to an AH400 for larger work - do you not think the F1 more than a match in volume/punch?
5. I don't have this issue on my '79 'Ray. I have to say, I have played a number of 'Rays o ver the years and have not noticed a weak G string volume issue. The other solution would be compression (which I always use so maybe this is why I don't notice it)
6.
I couldn't agree more! shame I got gas for something else!
What have you got your eyes on?
7.
I've done so many gigs now with my RH450, and the honeymoon glow STILL hasn't faded. All the amps I've been through, it normally wears off pretty quick. It's just so flippin' good!
Same here, the RH450 is another keeper alongside my Eden WT400 which I gigged solidly from 1999 through to 2008
8. Or a pair of Bergantino 12's

11. 1. '62 P Bass - First bass I 've owned (got her in '75), travelled the world with me and still my favourite 2. '79 'Ray - A lightweight 70's 'Ray and very resonant. Got her new in '80 and also came on many a trip 3. Warwick Thumb NT - with Ebony 'board - this is just a great bass 4. 4001 Chris Squire - the one I got from Stacker. Great bass (Squire got me into bass) 5. Alembic MK Sig - the only one of my favourites that I no longer have - wistful sighs The one that got away:
12.
NO, when did you get the 2nd and what did you have to sell? I've now got 2 P basses for general gigs, MIM with rounds, and a CIJ with flats I suppose I really need a MIA now, perhaps a vintage one for special occasions
It came up a few months later, Stacker was getting shot of her.
13.
Very nice Alan - any particular reason why you have two seemingly-identical CS's? Is one an investment and the other a player? Two is just greedy
When I was at school I was a Yes nut and I guess Chris Squier was the first bass player I paid any attention to. These two came up on Basschat over the past couple of years and I was able to get them. Looking for a third!
14. ANother one for my want list -
15. Not sure if they can be twins being built 10 years apart.....

20. Oh yes.......
21. Like the othrs have said, you need to try them side by side and also if the shop has a few of the same model try each one out. You will be surprised that two basses of the same model can feel and sound a little different.
22. First Kubicki that's done it for me
