1. So much so I wrote it twice.......
 2.
How does the WT compare in that respect Alan?
I really love my WT400, although I rarely use it now. It is like a cross between the RH450 (but not quite as warm/loose) and the F500 (not quite so hi-fi/sterile). The WT400 has a characteristic low mid 'lift' that really punches in a mix and outperforms any other Eden amp I have had/tried (I also owned a WT800B which did not sound as 'defined' as the WT400 - but was probably the loudest amp I have ever come across for out and out grunt). I might gve it a few outings again......
The biggest difference IMO are the levels of input gain and the tweakabiilty of the eq. Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ for me all the way as it was clean, flexible and very powerful. I wouldn't mind having another.
I agree regarding headroom and ultra clean high volume gigging situations. I had a 1974 SVT which was wonderful but got 'gritty' at relatively low volume to the Boogie. For out and out tone I really like Hiwatt's but these never cut it at gig volumes for me.
 5. Very nice
hey guys.looking for a tube compressor since im getting into the studio with my band to write our first cd and im looking for a good comp.i have the ebs multicomp right now(http://www.thomann.de/gr/ebs_multi_compressor.htm) but i found the EHX black finger online (http://www.thomann.de/gr/electro_harmonix_black_finger.htm). what do u guys think about it?have any other really good comps to offer?thanks!
The two outboard compressors I rate above all others I have used for bass (and I have tried/got many) are the Summit Audio TLA-50 Tube Leveller which is really punchy and a DBX160A which is really transparent. Both units are really easy to use, which is probably why I can get the most from them, and there is a TLA-50 up for sale on this forum (nothing to do with me): http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...2&hl=summit
 7.
Ok, so I have to own up that I'm struggling a bit to get the sound in my head out of my RH450 + RS212 / RS210 rig. It sounds really nice and 'warm' but I'm more of a modern 'hi-fi' sound kinda person and I can't seem to coax this out of the RH. I picked up an old SWR ST220 this week & love the sound of this straight out of the box without even touching the tone controls, dial in a little aural enhancer & it's pretty much exactly the sound I'm after. Nice and punchy & with lots of sparkly high end. I'm running this into the RS cabs so it's definitely something in the head I'm having problems with. I'd love to be able to replicate this sound with the RH because of the wonderful flexibility of the pre-sets & tuner but I can't seem to find it so far
That's why I kept my Markbass amps as well as the RH450 - the one sound that eludes the RH450 is that super hi-fi clean sound I can't get from my F500.
Most people don't class amps without a valve power stage as valve amps. I think it is misleading to call hybrids valve amps. Are you looking for an amp with a valve in the preamp, or an amp with a valve power stage?
That's right, there are plenty of lightweight amps with a valve in the pre-amp section. To get that true valve driven punch you need a valve power section which = heavy..............
 9. I love my 'Ray, picked her up in 1980 and she makes me smile everytime I take her out.......
