1. If you can't remember what you're playing on bass then you might be turning into a guitarist!
2. If tapping's your game then why not try... These
3. Shapes like the Ritter Roya, Overwater & such do it for me. Although I like Jazz & P basses, I think the top horn looks really awful. Like they designed everything else & just left a fat mongaloidish bit to fasten the strap to. It's the only thing that puts me off em or I'd have one in a second.
4. £11.05 which just so happens to be how much is in my pocket just now. I think £2k would be a realistic price.
5. How about a group for people who want people to stop whingeing about people whingeing about people whingeing? That way we can all join and have a whinge. Wait a minute, isn't that called Basschat? Sorted.

Ibanez SR500

I find when you're young the Ibby necks are great & allow a lot of flexibility, but I'm finding the slim neck uncomfortable for holding chords or octaves (or anything that requires a little pressure). This is due to me getting old tho & can't fault anything else about my SR1000. The pick ups say USA C1 on them and I haven't a scooby what they are, but I like the sound & other than getting a thicker neck on it, I can't think of any upgrades that I'd do. Maybe a Hipshot? I've had mine for nearly 20 years & the only thing I change on it is the strings. Although I've thought about a few things & then thought, Naah.
7. You could try the Roland VB-99. I believe Ped has or had one & he might let you know if they'll do what you're looking for. Markbass are bringing out a synth pedal soon, but if it's keys you want, then I'd have a look at a few different synths in a decent music shop & see what does your sounds.
8. Sounds a bit like Status Quo to me!
9. No one has mentioned the coolest band of the 80's (although they started late 70's)... Talking Heads.
10.
So what? If I gave a flying fart about 'cool' (who exactly decides what is and isn't 'cool' anyway?), I wouldn't own 80% of my CDs.
I'm the guy who decides what COOL is & what is COOL. & in the 80's & still now all the names you have mentioned most certainly fall into the COOL category. As did Depeche Mode, the Mission, SOM & the Human Leagues first 5 albums (they lost it on Crash).
11. If it's mid song that you change styles, then I was gonna suggest a volume pedal, but that EHX thingy looks to be the biz. If it's not mid song then I'm sure the volume knob on the bass could be used to good effect
12. I'm not particularly keen on the top horn, has an 80's aria/peavey look to me. Here's a page of tasty stuff for you to cream upon http://www.ritter-royals.com/instruments-available.php  Edit: The Stoneage is my personal fave on that page. I just love the old look & the attention to detail is astonishing.
13. I've always enjoyed soldering & it's p!ss easy to do. You can also get a good buzz out of it... ^_^
14. I hope you're jotting all the users names down & scoring them off til you're left with just one. Score mine off.
15. I think this would be a great idea & don't see why it wouldn't work, as long as you do have classes & stock a decent range of mid to high end basses & S/H for those who can't afford them at new prices. Keep away from the budget, as there is Merchant City (and a few others) for that stuff. If you can get some luthiers as suppliers it would probably be a huge boost, that way folk could try the standard offered & then order a tailored instrument thru yourselves... similar in the fact that GuitarGuitar have Overwater in stock (but I don't know if they do the custom option thru them).
16. Nice bass so far. Shortest short scale ever?
17. I think your next port of call is to dis his work on all bass forums. Talkbass, Uglybass & any others you can find to let all bassists know of how rubbish his service is. I'd also frequently post on his website to ask "I've been waiting for a year now, can I have my money back" so that any visitors to his site can see he provides a poor service.
18. I'd have a Ritter Roya 5 in some 9000 year old oak like this one... http://www.ritter-basses.com/ritter-basses...y/0830/0830.jpg http://www.ritter-basses.com/ritter-basses...0/0830-body.jpg And also get something custom built by someone like Ritter to my own design. Ampwise, probably a Markbass SD1200 or a MoMark into something built by one of our two cab designers on here. Edit: Edited to edit an edit
19. Count me in, I love experimenting to get new sounds.

21.
Hes fantastic on Aeroplane though..
Mile high club??
22.
Rockabilly / Psychobilly / Punk originals stuff.
Surely you do a cover of Rebel Yell by Billy Idol? One of my fave songs when I was in my earlyish teens.
23.
In addition to what has been previously posted, I give you Rebel Yell (http://www.myspace.com/rockrebelyell):
Billy Idol tribute band?
24. I'm in an Americana country folk jazz type band with a banjo player, a ukeleleist & a violinist (as well as a guitarist & percussionist) & although not quite as extreme looking, I play My Ibby (which does have more of a "rock" image) through my moog pedals & do some things which make the traditionalists give it "No, that's not meant to be". Like putting some distortion & envelope on a slap sound in a country song. Very funky synth sounding & makes cuntry more appealing! Or some tapping in a folk song, very satisfying.
25. I went & saw FNM at the Barrowlands years ago & Mike Patton Had a chugg on stage. Not a nice sight. L7 was the support & the Bassist liked flashing her toosh about. A nice sight.
