1. I'm not particularly keen on the top horn, has an 80's aria/peavey look to me. Here's a page of tasty stuff for you to cream upon http://www.ritter-royals.com/instruments-available.php  Edit: The Stoneage is my personal fave on that page. I just love the old look & the attention to detail is astonishing.
2. I've always enjoyed soldering & it's p!ss easy to do. You can also get a good buzz out of it... ^_^
3. I hope you're jotting all the users names down & scoring them off til you're left with just one. Score mine off.
4. I think this would be a great idea & don't see why it wouldn't work, as long as you do have classes & stock a decent range of mid to high end basses & S/H for those who can't afford them at new prices. Keep away from the budget, as there is Merchant City (and a few others) for that stuff. If you can get some luthiers as suppliers it would probably be a huge boost, that way folk could try the standard offered & then order a tailored instrument thru yourselves... similar in the fact that GuitarGuitar have Overwater in stock (but I don't know if they do the custom option thru them).
5. Nice bass so far. Shortest short scale ever?
6. I think your next port of call is to dis his work on all bass forums. Talkbass, Uglybass & any others you can find to let all bassists know of how rubbish his service is. I'd also frequently post on his website to ask "I've been waiting for a year now, can I have my money back" so that any visitors to his site can see he provides a poor service.
7. I'd have a Ritter Roya 5 in some 9000 year old oak like this one... http://www.ritter-basses.com/ritter-basses...y/0830/0830.jpg http://www.ritter-basses.com/ritter-basses...0/0830-body.jpg And also get something custom built by someone like Ritter to my own design. Ampwise, probably a Markbass SD1200 or a MoMark into something built by one of our two cab designers on here. Edit: Edited to edit an edit
8. Count me in, I love experimenting to get new sounds.

10.
Hes fantastic on Aeroplane though..
Mile high club??
11.
Rockabilly / Psychobilly / Punk originals stuff.
Surely you do a cover of Rebel Yell by Billy Idol? One of my fave songs when I was in my earlyish teens.
12.
In addition to what has been previously posted, I give you Rebel Yell (http://www.myspace.com/rockrebelyell):
Billy Idol tribute band?
13. I'm in an Americana country folk jazz type band with a banjo player, a ukeleleist & a violinist (as well as a guitarist & percussionist) & although not quite as extreme looking, I play My Ibby (which does have more of a "rock" image) through my moog pedals & do some things which make the traditionalists give it "No, that's not meant to be". Like putting some distortion & envelope on a slap sound in a country song. Very funky synth sounding & makes cuntry more appealing! Or some tapping in a folk song, very satisfying.
14. I went & saw FNM at the Barrowlands years ago & Mike Patton Had a chugg on stage. Not a nice sight. L7 was the support & the Bassist liked flashing her toosh about. A nice sight.
15.
Preferably a shaved Philipino.
16. If you play originals & some of the songs are written around basslines, then your band will have realised that you are a major component of the band's sound. My band have told me this whenever I miss any rehearsals, but if we had a gig & I couldn't make it, I would ask them to get someone & I would go over basslines with them if they wanted. I know my job is safe in both bands, not because I'm good on bass, but because I help write songs & I get on great with the band (I didn't know them before we formed except the guitarist who I knew from work, but didn't work beside). I didn't vote because none of the answers fall under what I would do. First one is closest tho. Good luck with your next gig.
17. Kurt Elling - the Waking. Just bass & vocals. Have a look at some Manring for just solo bass.

24 fret bass.

I'm gonna come up with what some might call a silly suggestion. Have a look at the Ibanez range. They're all 24 fret & cover more styles than most other basses. Or you could go for a 5 or 6 string to get the notes you think you're missing!
19. Surprised this hasn't gone, it's a slice of class. My gu****ist has a '74 Jazz that looks identical. Bought it off the BBC orchestra's bassist about 25 years ago for next to nothing too!
20. This is something I'm seriously considering. Been looking at Warmoth & WD music for parts and also looking on ebay.
21. another +1 for the CMD102p here. Does all I want it to & never grumbles.
22. I bought one in the late 80's & just put it in the bin last week. Cost about £80 back then s/h & sounded sh!te. My bro blew it up in the late 90s, then 2 years ago me like a fool, put it into a cowboy music shop in Stirling to ask if it was worth getting fixed. Phoned me back a week later to say they'd fixed it & that would be £45 thank you, tw@s. That's more than it's worth in a working condition. I got it back & then about 4 months later I plugged it in for about the 3rd time & it packed in! Kept it for a while as I thought I might use some bits off it & then last week I had a clearout of rubbish. If it's more than a tenner, don't buy it, they sound total crap.
23. That's a nice bass you've built. I've been giving serious consideration to doing a build course. Bailey Guitars in Maybole do build courses & have considered that. The thing that appeals about the bits idea is that I can spend more time on it as & when I want. If I get a 5 string body & neck I can spend time preparing them & getting them how I want. There's a couple of decent bodies on the Warmoth site that would suit. Is there a UK distributor for Warmoth or would I need to ship from the US?
24. I've been planning on getting a new bass for some time now but I'm still undecided. I was going to get a custom made luthier bass, but I'm liking the idea of getting all the parts & putting together my own custom job. If I go down this route, I plan on building a 5 string Jazz or something similar that has a wealth of parts at it's disposal. Other options are to get a body cut & routed that will take fender fitting necks (easy to get hold of & can try Jazz or P bass necks to see what I prefer), or to get a bass with a straight thru neck that has nothing on it (no p/us, pre amp, etc). Anyone any ideas on doing this as opposed to the luthier option? I was looking at Warmoth & a few other similar places & found these... http://www.mercasystems.com/ Anyone heard of them? They're Spanish.
25. Welcome to the forum Garry. I used to be a Stirlingite (or whatever we're called), but moved up here. The music scene in Perth is pants too. Most of our gigs have been in the Dunblane area! We did a support gig in the boating club in riverside which was a good little gig a few weeks back, but other than that we haven't played in Stirling.
