1. Been playing City Kids by Pink Faries, but struggling to fill up the bass line particualrly in the guitar solo bit. Any help here would be much appreciated.
2. Thanks for the suggestions. Hysteria by Muse sounds interesting - I'll take a look into that one anyway. My mention of 'Radio2' was not a spec for what I'm looking for, but just an indication of what I've been playing. What I'm really looking for is some stand alone tunes - not part of a band mix played on it's own, or else I'm back to learing it with the band mix. Are there any staight forward Bass only tunes out there I could try? Is there a good book (internet site) with some Music/Tab to learn from ?
3.
summertime girl from ipanema the A train Satin doll all easy and chordally interesting...one can improvise for ages
Thanks, but would need a bit more info to find these as I'm not familiar with the titles. I've looked for all these on 'Last.fm' and each have pages of versions so I don't realy know where to start. Who are these by ?
4. Looking for a band in the Bristol area that doesn't mind breaking in a newbie bass player. Only started this year. (I'm 46) Joind a band with some friends in May doing a set of about 20 covers. List below to give an example. I have to travel some distance to get to the practices so I'm looking for something closer to Bristol. Got a real buzz doing what we've done so far and keen to keep going. Any suggestions etc. ? --------------- 01 - Light My Fire - The Doors 02 - Knockin' On Heaven's Door - Guns ‘n’ Roses 03 - Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison 04 - Never Tear Us Apart - INXS 05 - Whistle For The Choir - Fratelies 06 - Let's Stick Together - Bryan Ferry 07 - Teenage Kicks - Undertones 08 - Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) - Steve Harley 09 – Valerie - Zutons 10 – Sorrow - Bowie 11 – Creep - Radiohead 12 - Dreaming of You - Corals 13 - Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol 14 - Dance the Night Away - Mavericks 15 - I'm a Believer – Monkeys 16 - Johnny B Goode - Chuck Berry 17 - Hard To Handle - Black Crows 18 - Proud Mary - Tina Turner 19 - Jeepster – Trex 20 - The Ballad Of John And Yoko - John Lennon 21 - Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor) - Robert Palmer ---------------
5. Started with the Bass this year. Playing with a band doing mostly 'radio 2' stuff (covers). Most of my practice is playing to a mix of the tunes we play, i.e with the rest of the band or with the original music. I'm looking for a few 'tunes' to learn as stand alone that sound good with just the bass. i.e. something to play without the band or other instruments. Any suggestions ? Some tab or music or even just some titles to search for would be great. Thanks.

8. Hi, Just starting out with the Bass. (couple of months now) Based in Bristol (UK) I've also been playing acoustic 6 string guitar for about 1 year now. I've joined a band on bass with some friends which is very good for the learning curve but could do with a lesson or two to check I'm going in the right direction. ( don't want to get bad habits etc.) Any tuition in the Bristol area, (south side), would be good. Mainly for technique and pointers on building a bass line etc. Thanks
