1. Every month or two I get an email from Luthmann Basses showing some very tasty (IMO) looking basses. The new Roots basses are a verry nice too. Has anyone tried any of this chaps basses?
2. My hometown. Moved up here a couple of years ago. I'm playing a gig in Dunblane on the 20th march if you're interested. I'll pop details in the gigs forum when I get all the info.
3. Hey Wayne, I did a quick edit of your pic on my phone to give you an idea of how you can mass with photos until you get something you're happy with. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4013/437647...55f951bcd_o.jpg Listen to Ped. Get a DSLR. You can get good s/h or new entry level ones well within a few hundred quids.
4. If I was earning a decent income just from bass playing then I'd have no problem spending £10k on a bass (one Ritter Royal comes to mind) as it's gonna earn it's money back & can be put thru as expenses for tax. As for value-cost. If you buy a new corsa for @ £10k you'll be able to get to 100mph. To do 200mph is gonna cost more than double this, at least 10x this in reality & if it's something you really want & have the funds, then why not?
5. Welcome aboard. Central Scotland as in Falkirk/Stirling? Have you any gigs coming up?

Free VSTs

If you google KVR Audio, you'll get their site & it has tons of vsts & aus etc as well as other audio stuff. I'll get the link later as I haven't got the facilities to get it just now.
7. I can only suggest an Ibanez SR (probably being the prestige unless you go s/h). Looks pop rock, weighs very little & has a huge pallet of sounds. But this being one of the few basses I've owned restricts me to recommending anything else (I wouldn't suggest Vox, weighs more than my house).
8. Funny thing, I was a big Duran fan in the mid 80's but never learned any of the bass lines. I also completely missed the rslaing thing!
9. I have TIs on my fretted ibby & as they say "a bit looser", I wouldn't say they're much looser than the average set of rounds. Be careful as some flats aren't recommended for thru body stringing (it weakens them).
10. I've been reading this over the past 24 hrs (Inc other post), went to band practice when there was 3 pages here, come back & there's 8! It is a blatant attempt at fraud IMO but I do feel for him as he must have something seriously wrong with him.
11. Nobody mention the Markbass 2x10 combo? Ticks all the boxes if it's a combo you want.
12. If I had the money just now, I would give you what you wanted & then give you it back for the same when you got back on your feet. Unfortunately I'm counting the pennies until the Mrs gets a decent paid job again. If she does soon & you're still in the same boat then I'll help. Have a bump for luck.

Ibanez lovers.

Push...
14. Do you plan on permanently having some OD on your bass? If so then try an MF-101. I can't rate it high enough, but like I've said in other posts, some folk think it's a tone sucker, I don't.
15.
http://www.toruku.jp/yokono/en/gallery/Pollmann/ There you go mate, 1971 5 string fretless
TBH, I'd love that if I could play upright.
16. I'm wanting a nice 5 or 6 string fretless, but I doubt there'll be any from '71. EH, you could get a very nice ibby SR from '92. I got mine new in '90!
17. I'll chuck in a shout for the Moog MF-101 with the exp pedal. Will set you back about £180 - £200 new for both, but has CV options & you can get loads of control over it. Only downside is the size for some people, I prefer it as I don't want a dozen pedals on my board.
18. I prefer the shape of the SR to the shape of Fender's P or J basses & they have a stonking range of tones. Just a shame they don't hold their value as well.
19. I have Guitar Toolkit. It was £5.99 but I use it all the time & can be used for chords & scales for 4,5 & 6 string Bass, 6 & 12 string Guitar, Ukulele, Mandolin & Banjo as well as a tuner for each of those instruments and has a metronome with tap tempo or scroll wheel. Worth every penny.
20. You'd be better adding another 8 ohm cab to get more db.
21. When I bought my ibby in 1990, my mate bought a Charvel guitar which has a strat lke body & cost @ £600. So that's a bargain.

Bass Buzz

What's your set up? My bass buzzed like a fridge a couple of years back. Took the pickups off ' cleaned them & the shielding plates below em & has been fine since.
23. I think any song should be covered, just as long as it's not made to sound anything like the original. IMO a good cover is when someone takes a song & rewrites it in their own style. Anyone who covers a song the same way as the original should be banned from covering any songs at all (would put westlife out of business fully ) unless they are a function/tribute band.
24. One of my bands have a similar issue now and again. Not so much slowing down or speeding up as the song progresses, but someone slowing down or speeding up if the song starts at their not desired tempo.
