Sorry Bill, Alex's definitions win.
Yes, I've heard that too. You really would expect the opposite to be the case though. You'd expect the average 15" driver to go lower than your average 10" driver because of its lower resonant frequency and greater excursion.
Agreed, you would expect that but it does depend on what make of driver it is though. A cheap 15 will most likely go lower than a cheap 10 as it would most likely have a greater excursion, but with a well built driver a 10 could have as much excursion as any other size & then it's down to all the other parameters & how well the cab has been designed to accommodate the drivers.

I was tempted to buy one of these about 10 or so years ago, it was one of the few small combos that the local "music" shop had. I decided not to though.

Most manufacturers 4x10s produce more lows than their 1x15s.

Go & try Reaper for yourself & see if you like it. Here's the link. Click "Download" at the top of the screen & it'll take you to the downloads page, choose what OS you want it for & that's you for 30 days, no restrictions. I got the price wrong, unless you're using it commercially, it's $40! If you look at any of the topics about DAWs on here, Reaper regularly pops up into the topic. I haven't bought it (yet), but it's been on my mac for over 2 years now. Unfortunately I don't get much time to use it (damned Basschat keeps me away from it ).

Ahh, but what if you set the EQ to a sad face? Would you get the mids back or would you just have a sad face???

Fancy going this weekend & giving it a blast? You could do a vid for YouTube as there's nowt on there for it (that I can find).

I've heard the octaver in the SS is a bit pants, but this is a dedicated analogue pedal, not the digital effort that's in the SS (or is it the same unit?).

Looks like a new contender. http://www.markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=194 Not cheap at £155, but if it's good...

I think (and I mean I think, but don't know) that your latter thoughts would be the most likely. It does depend on if your loop is pre or post & if it merges with the original signal. The LMII has an internal jumper to have it so that the loop is or isn't merged with the original signal.

I know were you are with the cables 3"s too short situation! As you use Cubase, why not download Reaper? It's free to use as long as you want & if you like it & use it a lot, you donate $99. I used to use Cubase & Reaper is easy to move to.

I'm unashamedly gonna recommend Ibanez (Having been an owner of a SR-1000 for 20+ years & still being my main instrument). It has a Huge range of sounds, a very slim neck, doesn't look like a Fender, wasn't designed by Fender & has a great build quality to boot. New one's don't hold their value all that well, but 2nd hand they do & there's some excellent bargains to be had. You could have a £1000+ instrument for well within your budget. Best idea is to get to a shop & have a play about. GuitarGuitar usually have a couple of Warwicks, Ibbys & G&Ls in & Kenny's in Dundee usually has a couple of Warwicks.

Just had a wee look online at it & sounds very suited to bass. Why would Boss market this as a guitar pedal though! I mean....
The BOSS MD2 Mega distortion captures the bottom-heavy distortion sounds heard in today's new-school metal and pushes it to the extreme. The secret is a special dual-stage distortion circuit with an added gain boost-plus new Bottom and Tone controls--for crushing distortion with massive low end. Take your distortion into the future with the MD-2.
Good for the bedroom guitard, but doesn't sound like it would be any good for a guitarist in a band to me.

I'd go with Lozz's advice & grab a 2nd hand Ashdown 4x10 off of here. They can be had for £1-200 & would be a match for what you have.

From the sound of your OP, I'd say get a try of the Orange & see if it gives the sound you're after. I like the Markbass amps as it does clean very well & when I want dirty I use pedals (which is a good amount of the time). Cab wise, I'd say go for 2 2x10s or 2 2x12s. You can stack these vertically to get the height of the 8x10 & your back will thank you for it (so will your ears). See if you can find a shop with a good selection of gear & get testing (or you could buy 2nd hand on here & sell/swap if you don't like things).

I asked this Q 3 1/2 years ago. I ended up going for a Markbass 2x10 combo (about £800 at the time) & haven't regretted it once. If you can stretch your budget then there's one or two on here for @ £600-650 in the For Sale section. When I got it I was playing in a loud rock band with 2 guits & had no probs being heard & now play a bit of DnB/Dubstep so lots of subby sounds are required. It's a hell of a lot better than the Trace Elliot 4x10 combo I used prior to it.

Is it MDF? That's what my first thoughts was form the pics. How about putting "No More Nails" to the test? I can see it lasting for quite a bit & then one gig, mid song, Poinnnnngg > smack > Ouch! It wouldn't be worth claiming for a £125 bass on your home insurance. Excess & next years increase would cost more than a new HB bass!
Yep. In my originals bands I moved from: Garage Rock (Stooges/MC5 style) evolved into Hard Rock Punk'n'Roll (Misfits/Ramones style) Metal Core In covers I've done everything from light pop to modern metal (Alice In Chains, System Of A Down) but no real direction to that, just trying different things. And I'll play owt if I'm being paid to dep!
Sounds like you've done everything from Rock to Rock

Might be better & cheaper going for a Roland VB system rather than spashing out a small fortune on moog Taurus pedals. There was moog T3s in the For Sales for £1250, but I think they're gone. New, they're @ £2k.

Oooooh, lights Very nice!

I started out on the U2/Simple Minds/Fleetwood Mac/The Cure genres, went to rock (Guns n Roses, Metallica, Skid Row, etc), then house & breakbeat (many funky basslines there), listening to things like Jamiroquai & Stevie Wonder & some hiphop along the way, went onto add jazz, DnB & now Dubstep. My bands have kinda followed that theme too. Lojo, I never really got into country/Americana but my current band's main styles is just that. We're a mix of folk/Americana/jazz/blues & whatever else sounds good with a 50 year old Canadian vocalist, banjo, mandolin, spoons (or any other percussion), tin whistle, acoustic guitar & a bit of bass (though my bass sound is getting further & further away from the straight bass sound you'd associate with those styles. Nowadays I enjoy playing anything with a good bass line.

I believe Thomann have a very good returns policy, therefore if it's not suitable for you then they take it back. I have a very bass heavy sound & just now I'm only using a MarkBass 2x10 & it's more than capable for the gigs I do (max has been @ 350 folk & played a beer festival & could shift glasses off of tables ), so I think a couple of 2x12s would be more than capable.
Yeah I tried that but it was not a recognised serial number being a custom
Well, that sounds like an excuse to give Mr Clayden a buzz. Have you had a look in Ibanez Register to see if it's there?
-
On the back of the headstock there should be a serial #. Go to http://forum.ibanez.com & post your serial # & someone will give you all the info for it.

A few manufacturers are stepping away from (or avoiding) the "4x10 & a 15 is the best" regime & building vertical stacking cabs. TC E & Genz Benz are 2 that instantly come to mind & EBS do a vertical array 4x12.
