1. I moved house 30 mile away from the band & don't have the funds to keep going down to rehearse. So lack of seeing them means not much gets done I'm considering starting a new band in Perth but haven't decided if I should & if so whether it'll be an originals rock or acoustic, a covers band to do parties & weddings (money driven of course), or if I should start a Dubstep/DnB outfit. The covers option is appealing for the money & the DnB for the sheer enjoyment.
2. Great stuff. I've got a band but just don't get to see them We've had One gig this year & it was a jam thru (Was jolly good fun tho!).
3.
All those pedals and no hoover?
I know, terrible isn't it! 5 mins in photoshop or a quick touch up in iPhoto would have cleaned that carpet.
4. You want a two tier horseshoe board for that lot!
5. A bit of Kurt for Bilbo. And to wake you back up... Hope you like
6. Or back in 1988!
7. Nice review. It'll be interesting to hear feedback from other folk (such as Sibob) to find out how it worked with different setups.
8.
I used to think that way until I got both of my newish rigs (Staccato/RS210&212 and backup BH500/BC210 BC212) then again I used to think huge great Ampeg fridges with a massive heavy tube amp were a must for every gig too. I believe that these were designed by TC and their speaker division Tannoy to be mixed and matched also. When you think about it my PA is different driver sizes for tops and sub...
To be able to have designed cabs so you can mix & match speaker sizes means they'd have to change the laws of physics, & I don't believe mankind has that ability. Tops & subs on PA are different from mixing cabs. Tops are directional & the Xover should only be putting mid range & treble to them whereas Subs are usually non directional.
9. He's a Multi-Unstrimentalist
10. I'm sure that guy's on the wind up!
11. Always best to have a matching pair so you know what sound you're gonna get. Different drivers can result in unpredictable sounds from venue to venue.
12. I looked at the price of the head & thought pah, but as a package that's some good deals.
13. You thought 17.815 seconds too long then if you've deviated from yes. Oh, depending on your amp, it might cut the sound if you use send only as it might be a case of it sends the full signal thru the send & needs a return. Tho most amps run the send as a separate channel (Mark Bass are switchable between series & parallel).
14. Quality I Like the tongue action! Is that a Bass Murf you're (not) using?
15. Sorry, I couldn't resist & I never read your post properly. See if this helps? http://www.vintaxe.com/catalogs_japanese_yamaha.htm I was gonna have a search thru, but the Mrs is chasing me to the supermarket.
16. That's a bit unusual. How about Grenville?
17. Looking forward to hearing the finished result. I'm guessing there's quite a bit of subby movement there. In clip 2 it looks like the screen is rippling from the vibrations.
18. The bassist who originally got me into bass is classed as a very laclusture bassist by some. He may not play fast technical pieces (& have no idea if he can), but he has done some brilliant melodic & easy to play basslines. That's Adam Clayton. I'm not jealous of any bassist, regardless of their abilities or how famous they are. I might get frustrated that I can't double thumb like Wooton or slap like King or tap like Claypool, but that's because I haven't got their skills or put in the effort.
19.
On a side note, I used to have a sustain pedal. I've never actually used it on a gig, as it was a great way to get screeching feedback after a few seconds. It used the guitar signal level to light an LED, and had a pre-amp controlled by a light-dependant resistor. So the more the signal decayed, the dimmer the LED got, and the more boost from the pre-amp. And when you didn't play at all, it sat there loudly hissing. It was complete rubbish really
Was it the Boss one? I tried one of those & after a couple of hours of tinkering & trying to make it useable, handed it back.
20. He's probably right! As usual, it's only us bassists looking. I dare say most folk who use the studio are hoping the MAG heads are never found. They should make it so if you steal, you get a finger cut off. This way if a thief persists, he can only go so far.
21.
For some reason, I don't actually consider the possibility that I will break the neck of a bass as part of my assessment of whether to buy it or not. Am I unusual in not having broken the neck of any of my basses?
Snap.
22.
It's merely a backing track. I've heard lots worse.
I've heard worse too Still doesn't make it any better! Maybe if he got rid of the crappy keyboard sounds & had an instrument doing something contrary to that riff, it'd sound better. & then chuck some vocals over it, & maybe change the drums a bit.
23. Nice bit of playing. The song itself is pants tho.
24.
i'm thinking about penguins! hahah
