Moog Pedals...

Funny enough, I have a moog MF-101 AND a Moog MF-105B (the M wasn't out when I got it). Here's a review of them... Moogerfooger review The song "Puzzles" has good use of them on all parts. & here's a long video of me messing about...
2. So far I've found that my 2x10 covers everything that I've needed it to & bigger venues do have decent PA, so it get's used as a monitor.
3.
Absolutely right. If you're playing a small gig it will normally only have a vocal PA and a large one ill have a full PA. I use the same gear regardless of venue and its never let me down, its just not trendy.
Same here. Most of our gigs have a PA (usually our own & without any subs) for the band which I'll DI from my amp into, but I tend to roll off most of the bass & let my gear do the work.
4. But wouldn't it be wiser to buy more efficient 2x10 cabs than inefficient 4x10s? It comes down to how much air you can move. Yes, the more speakers you have the more air you can move, but if those speakers are not very good at moving air & next to 0 effort has gone into the acoustic design of the cab, it's not just about the amount of drivers. A cab that has decent drivers & well designed cab to house them in but with 1/2 the amount of drivers is probably going to be a lot louder & sound a lot better.
5. If it's in a verse, I'll just stop playing & clap along & get the audience going until the chorus comes back in (&hopefully have remembered what I'm supposed to play). Though that doesn't seem to work too well on ballads P.S. The is caused by putting a "B" & a ")" next to each other with no spaces. You'd be better replacing the ) with a , or a }
6. What's he (the Funk) done? Last I heard is that he'd found a new woman & couldn't spend much time on here.
7. Have you tried emailing Ashdown?
8. You're on the money there Nige, but some folk need to go through a few basses to find one that is comfortable (how many is another debate). I'm one of the lucky ones who's very happy with the same bass I bought 20+ years ago, though I'm gassing for a fretless 5 (or 6er) & some more fx even though my band doesn't currently require them!
9. Are you planning on having a 10x10 stack?
10. That is a valid reason to going for 4 ohm cabs, but not everyone has a power amp or 2 separate heads. Question for you. If using the LMII with 1 cab runs at 500w, does running 2 with your parallel box have any volume increase? It's a genuine Q as I've never tried it & I'm assuming (from doing some of the maths) that you'll have @ 175w going to each cab. I work out that if a 4ohm cab gives a 3db increase over the 8, & 2 8ohm cabs in series gives a 6db increase due to more drivers moving more air, then in theory (without thinking too hard) you probably dont have a big increase if any?
11.
So are Markbass. Stating '40hz - 20khz' is pretty meaningless without knowing how many dB that's accurate to. Though they already know that.
Very true. But my point is that it has nothing to do with cone diameter & more to do with the cab & how much air is being moved.
12. The Markbass standard 2x10 & 1x15 both have the same frequency range - 40hz - 20khz, so this kinda shows that Marshall are just going for sales.
13. One of these? StompBox is a member here, so might be worth getting in touch with to see what else they do.
14. I think EBS make 4 ohm cabs because their amps will run fine at 2 ohm. But yes to the above, getting "full whack" from your amp usually means a 3 db increase in volume (which is barely noticeable) & having a cab that takes everything from your amp means you can't add another cab unless you run it parallel, & then you're gonna be running the amp at 8 ohm & getting less watts going to each cab.
15. Gimme a year or 2 & I'll be looking at stacked board ideas too!
16. Aah, now that's a question! I assumes that the MB was Markbass & JB for Jeff Berlend & this being the combo... http://www.markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=75
17. I believe all the MB cabs & combos use B&C drivers.
18. Interesting, but does it apply to the UK?

multi effects.

+1 for the ME50b. It's an easy bit of kit to use & very useable live. Depending how you are with "techy" stuff, Line 6 & Zoom are also worth looking at, though these tend to be a bit more in line with simple synth programming for going beyond presets (nothing hard, just changing parameters on a LCD display & the manual will explain it).
20. I'd come & see ya, but I'm working 'til 7:30 & I have no car & according to Google Maps, the quickest way to get to Nottingham is via Belgium!
21.
Im amazed by the way you have seven copies of every book you own and have arranged them in an identical fashion on that enormous book shelf of yours
That's exactly what I was thinking! Funny patchwork carpet you have there.

Momark?

The Bass Merchant pricematched my MB combo & it was a few hundred quid different AND he threw in free delivery. So it's worth checking with Bass Direct to see what they can do.
23. Just thought. If you all play to a metronome, then that would probably work.
24.
If this combo is designed to be run with an extention cab...if will very likely be 8 ohms for the exisiting connection, so therefore you'll need another 8 ohm cab. Check the manual...but I believe this amp is rated 200..and that will be at 4 ohms...so if you run the combo as is...you probably only get 130 watts or so.. adding anothe 8ohm can makes a potential 200w. This is why combo's aren't as convenient as they would make you believe..as you need another cab underneath anyway to get the full makers ratings..typically
? MB combo's usually have the LMII which is @ 350 watt at 8 ohm & 500 at 4 ohm. An ext cab would be 8 ohm. I don't understand the comment about why combos aren't as convenient as you'd need two 8 ohm cabs to get the most from the LMII anyway (NOT one 4 ohm cab).
25. I find that you need to have a tight drummer & use tap tempo to get the same BPM as him, but if he deviates it can sound awful. I use a Bass Murf with tap tempo & if he goes out of time, it takes a couple of bars to get back in sync as it's 3 taps for bpm.
