1. Chemical assistance isn't the answer. A couple of "courage" drinks or a toke is only gonna risk compromising your playing ability. If you're nervous, get back beside the drummer (behind a guitarist if you can) & pretend you're invisible. Look at your hands & feet whilst you play so you're not looking at the audience. If you was in my band, my singer would put you out front in the middle & he'd go to one side. He's done that to me twice & it doesn't phase me anymore (first time was a little "I hope you're not expecting some Jaco"). Relax. You know how to play.
2. I used to be in 2 bands that played live & practiced with both on a weekly basis but I had to give one up & now we practice about once every month or two.
3.
Call me unprofessional or un-musicianlike, but as long as I am happy with what I hear and am enjoying the gig, f*** everyone else
That's an important factor to consider. No point in playing through something that you aren't happy with If you're in a venue using PA support & the band can hear what you're playing, then use whatever you're happy with. It's only you who needs it.
4.
To quote Ampeg: "Why eight 10” speakers? We learned early on that 10” speakers work much more efficiently than fifteens or eighteens—and if you put eight 10” speakers together, you can move a huge column of air. You’d need five 18” or six 15” speakers to move as much air as the SVT-810E. And they simply wouldn’t be able to respond to transient peaks as quickly as our tens. " I don't claim to know much about wiring, but I remember my lecturer holding a discussion about 810 cabinets and saying how the parallel/series/parallel wiring makes a difference, i'd assume to do with the alignment. All that being said, you do hold a very valid point. Money has some element to play. I'm starting with no money whatsoever, and selling this cab is a good platform to save upon to get the 810. Also, and this will sound very lame, but it's partially an aesthetic thing. Even though it gives a strong tone, it does look a little weedy on stage. Originally I wanted to add a Warwick WCA 411 Pro to my setup, but It's hard to defer from the the classic 810 look and sound. I would say it's fair to disagree with me, personally preference really.
Ampeg's quote is a bit of a misleading one. Yes, an 8x10 will move more air, but only an advantage to those directly in front of it. Move off axis & the volume drops dramatically due to the cab having the 10s next to one another.
5. Why do you want an 8x10? If you like the sound of your current rig, I'd get another Warwick WCA 210 Pro & stack em vertically.

<> That's a fake diamond
7. That IE looks prettttty good I'd really like to add a 2nd filter to my board. If modualtion is an effect that makes the bass "wobble", then LPF is most definitely modulation. Ask any Dubstep bassist what FX they need to make "wobbles".
8. Apparently he used a Phase 90 on a lot of tracks, but this may well be just a flanger of some sort (no idea what as yet & still think it sounds like there's a bit of wah in there).
9. It sounds like there's an auto wah on there as well as a flanger. Can I name the effect Grenville?
10.
The latest incarnation: Don't think there's room for any more!
That's a tidy board. Next purchase might be a bigger board so you can get more pedals?
11. Nice one!
12.
That sounds like it is most definitely a forum that would not be suitable for work!
I get some funny looks at work when folk can only see part of the window saying "asschat"!
13. I can see this getting out of control! Basschat Drumchat Guitarchat Keychat Fiddlechat Singchat Rapchat Brasschat Then there's your further offshoots. Off topic would become Chatchat Classifieds would become Sellthatchat Theory would become Whatsthatchat When will it end?
14. What about roll on artex?
15. The basslines taht got me into bass are rather well known: 2nd half of "The Chain" - Fleetwood Mac New Years Day - U2 The Void - The Beatles Oh, & loads of Talking Heads!
16.
Never stopped Bob Dylan ...
Exactly! Though I can empty a full venue in less than 3 minutes.
17. I don't mean to Pee on the SFT, as I'm sure it's a very good pedal, but that video does zilch for it. If you listen to the Ampeg & then click near the end & listen to the SFT/TE, they sound about as similar as Motown to Mark King! & I'm deaf & can hear that. You could probably get that sound that the SFT is doing by fiddling with the EQ on the TE & rolling off some top end (Maybe leaving something near the 3khz up to give that "click" that the Ampeg has). I don't know

19. Or you could learn songwriting & try finding a good singer. I can't sing a note in tune, but that doesn't stop me writing songs. Funny.... I'm trying to give you encouragement yet considering doing the same as you (but for different reasons).
20. Haha! Snap.
21. I think that's more to do with the amp & the recording, rather than a particular effect. But something like a BDDI or other preamp may get you close with your jazz on the bridge pick up.
22. It's the only downside of my MB combo. Cats love it.
23. Just fill it with cotton wool. That way it's easy to revert if needed!
24.
That's cos you live in Perth
Don't remind me! It's Perthetic.
