The daily fail can certainly pull up a good story & then fill it with nonsense! Toilet paper for your chin Mr Thornhill?
-
Surprised no one has mentioned your user name to try! MarkBass do some brilliant amps well within your budget. How about the TTE-500?
-
If that's Roqsolid, they did mine too. Brilliant service & quality product. Just buy one & get an amp to fit.

whats the advantage of putting my delay in the effects loop of my amp?
xgsjx replied to 0175westwood29's topic in Effects
In the guitar world, it is pretty much accepted as fact that time-based effects (eg. delay and reverb) sound so much nicer AFTER any distortion/overdrive/fuzz. So, it doesn't matter where your dist/OD/fuzz is being generated, whether by pedals or in your amp's pre-amp, try and get your delay after it. If you are playing into a clean amp, and getting all your dirt from pedals, then simply put your delay as the last pedal in the chain. That will ensure that all dirt is generated before the delay. If you are getting at least some of your dirt from your amp's pre-amp, then put your delay in the FX loop, which in virtually every amp known to man, will be after the pre-amp in the amp's circuit. If you think about what will happen when you put a delayed signal into a dirt box, you can see how it might sound a bit odd, as the (quieter) trails will not be as "dirty" as the initial tone. The quietest trails may even be completely clean. So you end up with a dirty first note, with all subsequent delays getting cleaner and cleaner. For most people, this is nowhere near as musical sounding as when the initial note AND the trails have the same amount of dirt. There are still, of course, some old school officionados who still maintain that putting the delay before a dirty amp is the best way, but that is mainly because some vintage guitar/bass visionary did it "back in the day" when amps had no FX loops. Due to the design of amps back then, there were rarely huge amounts of dirt being used TBH. Personally, I still think it sounds sh1t like that.
I agree that the norm would be to put it at the end, but if he's going through a wad of dirt boxes then it's still getting a dirty signal. Experimentation is the way forward! -

Damn, I was gonna offer our services. But, we're probably a bit weird. Very folky/country/bluesy/electronca stuff. We've got a 6 foot scary monster that plays spoons! -

What about putting your delay earlier in the chain? -
I believe they're actually.... Crap.

I wouldn't have thought it would have made as much a difference as that. Part due to the fact that it's getting pushed by 1/2 the power that the 2x10 combo is & although it will make some sort of a difference, would it not depend on the sensitivity & so on of the ext cab? Edited to tidy up grandma
No, no noooooo!!! where do you get that final "ff" from!!!??? See, had the Armada (I leave the "Invincible" part of the name out, as it still hurts a bit ) been successful, you could all pronounce these names very easily Useless fact: Ibanez is itself wrong. It should have been "Ibañez" (alt-164 and alt-165, children) I guess they were out of ~s when they first printed the name... PS: and it's not "eye - bah..." but "ib -..." PS: I'm off to start a new thread about how to order beers correctly in Madrid. Don't make the mistake an English friend of mine made when all she wanted was a "caña"
A bloke down the pub said that Spanish speak spoke "z" as "th" as in "chorizo" (which apparently is pronounced "choreetho"), so it must be true! The name "Ibanez" is Spanish & I've read in tha past it being pronounced Ee Bahn Yes, Ee Ban Eth & I Bun Ease. However, as some might not know, Ibanez isn't a Spanish company (shock, horror)! Although the company started off life as a book shop owned by Hoshino Gakki & became an importer of Spanish stringed instruments from a luthier called Salvador Ibáñez. In the late 50s Hoshino Gakki then went on to make copies of guitars under the Ibanez banner & then in the 70s designed their own instruments (after a lawsuit from Gibson). So are you saying that it should be pronounced "ihb - an - ess"? & more importantly, has anyone told Steve Vai? He pronounces it Eye Bun Ez. & is it Gibsun or Jibsun?

If the Head has a tuner out, then use that. If not then do like the fine chap above says & put it 1st.

Newcastle's a great place really, but you probably know that by now. Have a smooth move.
When I was with the guys from Ibanez Japan a few weeks back they pronounced the I as eye-ban-ezz
I'm actually relieved to hear that as that's what I've called it for the past 30 years.
Aguilar will always be 'ag-will-arr' to me!
+1 & Lâkland is actually pronounced "Lacky Land". They come from the land of the Lackies (Google lacky if you don't believe me).
-
OK then, how abuot Ibanez? Someone said it should be Eb-ahn-eff (Spanish pronounciation), but I said they're Japanese, so pronounced Ibby.
Moog EP-2 is always an option.
EP2 is a very good pedal & having a "sensitivity" pot at the side is a very useful thing. Still don't understand why they've went up by over £10 in the past year.

The best place to look is in the "For Sale" section on here. A lot of good stuff for whatever budget & usually at decent prices. I went with a Markbass combo as it weighs very little. I carry bass over my shoulder, combo in one hand & pedal board in the other.
-
There's a whole host of stuff, from old (& new) valve combos from the likes of Ampeg, SWR, Ashdown & Mesa Boogie to Solid State lightweight stuff from Markbass, GenzBenz, TC Electronics, etc. Depends on your budget.

From the look of things, I take it the drivers are ceramic jobbies? If so, then that's about average prices for non neo cabs is it not?
Signal Path : Bass-> Ibanez TS9-DX (with Keeley Mod)-> ISP Decimator G-String-> Amp - FX Send-> Boss TU-2-> Boss CE-5-> Boss AW-3-> Boss OC-3-> BBE Opto Stomp-> ISP Decimator (Again)-> FX Return only thing i'm looking to add is a Boss DD-7 but i don't really see me ever having a use for one so for now it will have to stay a fantasy
That's an interesting & unusual signal chain, using the fx loop is even more odd (but I suppose that's what it's for ). If that's what gets "Your" sound, then that's what counts.

Wheelbarrow? Only messing. How about a Sansamp or a Blowtorch? Gainy pre amps.
Nope I'm not getting the restraint bit. What's the problem then??
Ashdown are known for having a "Muddy" sound. Some folk like it, some don't. Like everyone else says, it sounds like either a set up problem or a fault with the combo. Adding a 15 should increase your volume a bit, but it's a mismatched cab & becomes a weak link. Adding another MAG 4x10 would be the matching cab & should give you more low end than adding a 15 would. I'd see if there's any BCers (folk on here) local to you that can come along to a gig or rehearsal & check things out.
-
Yup. Although it might be not as loud as the combo.
-
If you're new to FX, then I always recommend getting a 1/2 decent multi fx unit. That way you get to find out what does what & get an idea of what you want, though if you're buying individual pedals 2nd hand on here & don't like something, then you can move it on with little to no loss.

I was looking at Catalinbread pedals today & saw that. I'd imagine it'd be pretty good, but I've never tried any of their pedals. is the Malekko B:assmaster too big? Infact, I don't see why Max wouldn't be able to whip the circuitry from whatever octave pedal you wanted & combine it with the Micro Fuzz in one box.
