1.
Yeah there is, you wont be able to hear yourself against a drummer, and your tone will be a pile of doodoo due to having no headroom for the bass end
It is subject to the venue & other factors though. I've gigged with a 30w 1x12 combo in a 4 piece rock band & been able to hear myself (& be heard by the audience). Was not in a noisy pub/club venue though, but the drummer was a rather heavy hitter. I've also gigged with 90w & 150w heads going into 1 or 2 1x15s in larger pub club venues & had no probs being heard. It's how much air you're moving, not how many watts you've got.
2.
i would love it if he came back to tell us he's bought an £5K Hellborg rig.
Only to tell us it's too loud!
3.
So far two Barefaced cabs have been stolen, both Midgets! I hate to think how many micro-amps vanish before/during/after gigs...
I'm picturing a couple of dwarfs running off with 2 Dubsters on their backs???
4. The ideal cab to go with your combo would be a GK RBH115.
5.
Just another thought. When I connect my two cabs, I use the speakon output for one cab and the jack out for the other. Is this OK to do?
Perfectly fine. It might be an issue with the amount of power you're getting from the venue?
6.
What do you mean? Its a pa speaker?
Sorry, rushed answer from me. What I was asking is do you play your bass through PA or is it to be your "rig"? If it's for your main rig, I would say your bass deserves better. For a backup, it's fine & cheap enough. Or if it's all you can budget for, get it & upgrade the cab & amp as & when you can afford to.
7. So, you've got a rather nice bass & play it through the PA? Sounds cheap enough, but it is cheap.
8. I'd get in touch with the shop you bought it from as it sounds like a fault. The manual for the LMII says play to clip & then turn back slightly so it only clips on loud notes.
9. My friend has a Brass one that he uses & I found it too twangy for my liking. Beer bottle all the way!
10.
That's going to sound a bit ... erm ... challenging.
I was thinking that too. Nice C# & D together for that Bagpipe drone?
11. It's practice, practice, practice. If you play the 3rd string it then becomes a triple stop. If you post what you're trying to play in the Techniques section, someone should be able to help.
12. I'm gonna agree & say keep to what the song needs & maybe add some appropriate fills or unison with a guitar occasionally. If you get bored playing just root notes, play alternating Root - V on the beat. Sure to go down a treat.
13.
Ha.... The Xero was built to spec to replace the Moog. I tested a regular Xero out to ensure the tone would fit (in places I kinda prefer the Moog tone, but the Xero works great for the music) but importantly the IE pedal is totally noise free. Silent as a mouse. The Moog unfortunately rapes my noise floor having all those pedals before it and I need to use noise gates and make some compromise to get tr best from it. The custom Xero needs to go back for more tweaking soon (it was the 1st Taylor had made like this with 3 CV controls so some tweaking was expected) but I'm very happy with it. Freight would be mad, though NC would be amazing (Moog, Roscoe & Krispy Kreme!!). Aberdeen would rock as well. Hook us up with a promoter that will pay enough to cover travel and make a few quid an we'll happily visit either!

Leave it with me
We need to sort out a Scottish Tour for OHM. I know a couple of places in Dundee that would suit. Need to check where in Perth would be best. Any excuse to hear this rig, eh!
14. I'd say the SV1 is more portable than the Nord, though not by much. Both nice bits of kit.
15. If you're brushing up on your skills, you'll eventually play 2 handed. I'd look at 61 as a minimum, preferably 73-88.
16.
most boybands succeed due to non-musical reasons
Fixed.
17. If someone is following your bassline too closely, play a different bassline. Let them have it as a melody/solo/whatever & play something that either harmonizes or something that backs up the tune. You can still go back & forth from the 2 (or 3) versions. It's happened to me a few times & I take it as I've written the melody & the basslline. Gelling with the band is about accepting what each musician is capable of & working with each other. Sharing ideas & being able to say "could you try playing something like this at this piece" without anyone taking offense. It's about everyone listening & being musicians. If you can't do that, then forget about the gel & be like Massive Attack.
18. I like watching folk do alternate covers of songs & find it handy for learning basslines too.

Slap effects advice

Auto Wah.
20. Same here. I enjoy playing originals more, but on occasion we chuck in a couple of covers for good measure (but played in OUR style). At my level of playing, it's all about having fun & making the audience have a good time too.
21. I'll play anything that makes a noise. Whether that be bass, guitar, synth, drums or using the moog LPF as a sound source into the Bass Murf & farting about.
22. On a side note, I've played guitar & keyboards through my bass rig & have used it as a PA, putting vocals & backing tracks through it.
23.
Yeah - but just like the PC's you can get... the coolant pump noise is just as annoying!!
Good point.
24. A water/fluid cooled amp would be cool.
25. I'm sorry to say that there is no techy reason why he couldn't put it through your rig.
