1. People buying valve amps left. right and centre. Where the hell are Marshall amps , the VBC 400 is way outside players budgets and dated. Talk about getting caught with your pants down.
2. Actually if you look at the only wide picture, the headstock just does not look right at all ? Am I seeing things here ?
3. The drivers in the VX range suck. My Firebass head ate a Vx 4x10 for lunch. It's down to the drivers, 4 x the best 10" drivers on the market in an old re-furb cab will beat any 8x10 loaded with nastys.
4.
I've got a Marshall MB4210 combo, which is also available as a head, which I'm well pleased with, I know it had reliability problems at first but I think they've been sorted, mines been reliable enough, even survived being dropped off the extension cab when on my sack trolley. Same can't be said for our guitarist, he's given up with Marshall valve gear due to reliability problems
Dont they amaze you ? they must be the most "out of touch" company going other amps are briniging back retro look amps and valve bass amps and they can not sell them fast enough and Marshall are bringing out such drab looking bass gear, the new stuff sounds average at best, it works, but it looks awful . What on earth are they doing, get the jcm 800 bass head re-vamped and back on shelves, you see vbc cabs with all sorts of heads on, I tried like I say a dfx guitar head, it looks like a marshall head, on the clean channel its loud and crisp and deep on the bass. I just can noy understand who they have working in the markerting department that is so cluless about bass amps. Retro is King, valve heads are back with a bang and they are sitting on the plans for the superbass and the jcm, 800 bass head and knocking out drab bland looking transitor amps. Talk about missing the boat marshall amps , Orange can not make valve/ hybrid heads fast enough. I bet lots of players would love a nice gold faced retro style marshall stack for bass.
5. If they are manufacturing in Korea they won't be in short supply intentionaly. Them lads can knock stuff out.
6. It is remarkably clean as well for a 36 year old bass that would have been poly laquered.
7. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item23352650ce Owned a few, never recall the machine head over hanging the head. Mad sander attack, or something else....
8.
I have had so meny dream basses about 30ish,always a better one to be had,my go to bass is a LTD fretless 5 awesome does everthing I want, but the bass I use with the band is a Gibson EB3,only because it suits the music, its tone and looks, the only thing Im gassing for now is a Marshall bass head
The marshall DFX 100 transitor head on the clean channel actualy makes a very good loud clean bass head with a vbc 4x12, IMO better than the "bass amps" they produce now. Plus you have the overdrive channel for that boost. This company marshall seriouslly are out of touch with bass players, just make a damned bass head that looks like a damned marshall guitar head, with gold front, logo and I will buy one, the new range looks like something out of a lucky bag. When the best bass amp they make is a guitar amp on the clean channel, they are getting it very very wrong. The VBC is OK, but the transformers blow and it's a door stop, plus it is way over price. So wish this amp company would get it's finger out of it's backside and listen and stop telling us what you think we should play.
9. If these said Fender on the headstock and someone put one in your hands and told you it was a £1000 bass, you would say thats cheap. Fitted fingerboard maple neck, the ultimate in precision bass construction. Damn, wish I had the cash.
10. Just hope it does not have the dreaded rod spin....
11. I must admit, when they put Squire on the headstock I was baffled ? As good a bass as Fender have ever made in 30 Years. These are fingerboarded Maple, not skunk striped, they really sustain. Future classic !
12. Sounds like a pick up phase, like if you wire jazz bass pick ups out of phase, some Alembics had it on a flip switch and the very early JD roadies had centre position phased.
13. Yes it will be fine. Some say you will only get half power, but this does not mean half volume. Watts are not volume, 200w is not twice as loud as 100w, it is only a couple of DB more. What it does mean is the amp wont be running near the limit, as anyone who has had a trace eliiot turn in to a smoke machine knows.
14. If someone made some that are thick enough to go on a nice leather ended strap, I would pay anything. All the ones I have tried do not have enough thread for a premium strap, in other words one that holds the bass still.
15. Anyone know of, a multi bass effects unit with two inputs, might appear obvious to bass players to have two inputs so you can switch basses without having to wire an A/B box and 2 extra leads, but simple things appear to escape the logic of effects makers. Is there one on the market that has a built in A/B switcher so you can say play the fretless on some and the fretted on others. Or am I dreaming again ?
16. Stick this on top http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/ampeg-svt-450-bass-head/1044423756#photo-content Only use cash on collection !
17. just watch the cock and bull Gumtree merchants with ukash and courier scams. Hopefully it's legit, but too good to be true ukash courier scams are rife on this site.
18. A lot of stuff was and is rare, usually because it was crap at the time and did not sell.
19. In todays climate, I would say given the heavy wear, it is a tad expensive.
20. On the peavey 4x10 cabs, if you took all the gunk out, threw the fostek horn and wired it straight up they started to sound like a bass cab. Might work here as well .
21. Anything old is worth millions ? Where will it all end.
22. I would have bought that if you were up north
