1. Great gesture! As others have said, good karma going your way mate.
2. Wow, that looks amazing! I'm currently talking to Mark for a Limelight P-Bass with a J neck. Lovely relicing on this one too. Mark seems to nail it all the time. Enjoy and let us know how it feels when you finally get it!
3.
I've just ordered a Warwick Rockboards Solo, they essentially look exactly like Pedaltrain Nano, but for a few pound less. I'm assuming exactly same factory etc. Will report back, I also have a Pedaltrain Nano that I can compare it directly to. Si
Just seen them online... they look like re-branded Pedaltrains for a fraction of the price (GOOD). Keep us posted Si, as they could be "the alternative".
4.
Try Feline Guitars in Croydon. They've always done good work for me. http://www.felineguitars.com
My friend takes all her guitars to Feline and they do great work.
5. I do believe it is a '68 too as sometimes parts from late in the year would eventually end up on a following year manufactured instrument (if you know what I mean). Lovely looking bass, GLWTS mate!
6. Never had work done by him, but Graham Parker is based in SE London and on his website there is some really good work.
7.
Digitech/Juan have just clarified: The output is TRS: Tip = Octave+Sub, Ring = Dry Sleeve = Ground Boom, you'll need a long insert cable to get from the MB to the amp/DI, but it's workable! Si
Good to know! But they could have included an extra jack as the TRS option (like the Radial Bassbone loop) is not my favourite. Anyways, let's see how the new model compares to the original Meatbox. I think Juan will be biased as it seems that he has a good relationship with Digitech/DOD (remember the first Bass Whammy he reviewed). Still nice to know that he has been able to influence a company in re-issuing a pedal. We'll have to see now how this affects 2nd hand Meatboxes prices.
8. Just saw Juan's post on his website. Shame about the dry out being removed... waiting for the full video-review from Juan.
9. Really like the concept, specially the option to customize the side panels with a parch panel, power inlet, etc... The US website has more options like the hardcases which are Pelican (nice touch).
10. ANOTHER ONE???? Really... Is the "Adam Clayton" name a good marketing tool? http://www.notreble....signature-bass/ Warwick meets Fender kind of bass it seems but the price tag is way off.

COG Pron Thread

I took out my COG Custom "Octagrit" and a Tarkin for a spin yesterday at Brighton Electric... I had been ages since I had played the Octagrit through a large cab and Oh My Dog! It sounded huge. I got the octave side sounding pretty much like a synth and I loved it. Also, the Tarkin's mid switch is great as it gave me some foccus and I could cut through the mix easier. Great stuff from Tom as always.
12. The mix and the whole band context is more important than the individual instruments (sounds). Many times you hear isolated tracks and the bass sounds either distorted, or with a lot of midrange, or very bassy... but when heard within the mix it just sounds amazing and fits perfectly. I come form a Sound Engineering background and I always tailor my sound for the gig I am doing (basses, amps, fx, playing style...)
13.
Never thought about a black pickguard until I saw this. I think it works instead of the tort for a dark contrast. What do you think?
I think that is a killer combo, specially with the Maple board. The tort pickguard seems to vary depending on the amount of red and normally, red and pink do not go well together. But there is a lovely example of a Shell Pink P with a tort guard on this topic too... Hard to tell without seeing them in the flesh.
14.
Good Luck With The Sale!
+1!
15. Sorry to heat that mate, I know how you feel. I was touring with my former band and was about to sign a record deal, but the lead singer decided on his own that he did not want to agree to the T&C's of the label which lead to the band terminating immediately. Same thing happened with a band I recorded for, they released a LP and got offered some gigs around Europe and US but decided to part ways before anything happened...
16. Super cool cab mate! Traynor did something similar with a 8x10 or a 6x10 (can't remember) and the bass player in Death From Above 1979 loves them. GLWTS!
17. Just booked London. Thanks for sharing!!!
18.
Now search out the books, films and articles on the studio musicians at Stax, American, Malaco and Muscle Shoals studios.
Thanks Chris!
19. Hi y'all, Just saw both "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" and "The Wrecking Crew" documentaries about US session players back in the 60's. Great stuff and really inspiring. It is amazing to see that just a bunch of musicians made most of the music that was coming out of the US and the ups and downs associated with session work and musical trends. Nice to see some special mention to the bass players too with James Jamerson and Bob Babbit in the Detroit scene and Carol Kaye and Joe Osborn (among others) in the LA scene. As I mention above, really inspiring stuff that made me want to play more and more. If you have not seen them, please do so! Cheers, Byron.
20. I was so tempted to get this one... enjoy!!!
21. I think most of us agree that they should have gone for the SR body shape... the BTB just looks weird IMHO
22. Nope... still waiting it seems.
23. Wow, that is a really cool bass!
24.
We need photo's, dude! D.
+1!
25. Good to read that it can also do a warm tube sound.
