Just received Etienne's fantastic GK800RB head. These things are like gold dust and this one is in excellent condition! Fantastic communication, regular updates, tracking info and the most thorough packaging of an amp known to man all make for a splendid transaction. Highly recommended!
Thanks very much Gary! I'm sorry to see it go, but I know it'll be appreciated with its new owner...

Gary just took delivery of my G-K 800RB head this morning, having bought and paid for it last week. As countless others have mentioned here, he's a top bloke to deal with! No-fuss straightforward payment, and all communications have been quick and friendly too. Thanks mate, hope you enjoy the amp! Best wishes, Etienne
Just played the bass tonight through my amp with the band and they were really impressed with the sound, it plays better than the precision I once owned and this bass will be going nowhere great range of sounds and boy does it growl. I had the drummer asking me to turn down the volume as he was getting his symbyles rattled this baby rocks.........
Very pleased to hear you've bonded with it mate! Funnily enough, the only time in recent memory that I've been asked to turn down on a gig (it's usually the other way round...) was whilst I was playing the Yamaha. The output on that thing is monstrous, even in passive mode!

Brian took delivery of my Yamaha BB1100S earlier on today- what a thoroughly nice bloke to speak to on the phone! Great communication throughout our dealings, and very prompt, no-hassle payment too. Hopefully you'll stick around on here mate, we'd be happy to have you! Et
Just bought the BB100s bass off Etienne, he described it exactly to a tee. It plays wonderfully and I am one happy camper. I live in Ireland and he despatched it off on monday and I received it today. Great chap to deal with and very good comms, a top bloke if he were to sell other gear that interests me I would have no hesitation in buying from him. Good luck mate and thanks for the smoking yamaha, pleasure to do business.
Thanks very much for the glowing recommendation Brian! It was my pleasure, but I also have to give Fedex credit where it's due for getting the bass over to you so quickly- it really surprised me, ha ha! Take care and all the best mate, Et

Gallien-Krueger 800RB (UK model): ***SOLD***
Etienne replied to Etienne's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
PMs replied to... still available. Not sure if I'm doing the right thing selling this to be honest! Has anyone on here had good results running a Catalinbread SFT in front of a G-K head by the way? I'm sizing up an SFT and am curious to know how it'd do with this...
What valve amp are you after ? I've a Markbass Classic 300 all valve head for sale ...? And do fancy a 800RB even if I don't need one (currently use 700)
Thanks for the offer, but the Markbass is way out of my budget, and more power than I really need anyway! I think something that can do 100 genuine Watts into 4 and 8 ohms would be ideal- I just tried a mate's old Simm-Watts PA 100 head this week, and that was pretty good... ps know what you mean! I love G-K amps- My other one's the 1001RB-II... -

***SOLD*** Really hope I don't regret this! As those of you in the know will testify, this is a fantastic-sounding classic bass head. I've been running this pretty hard into a single Barefaced Compact in my band's practise room ever since I bought it, and it's been super-reliable (and loud!) the whole time. Sadly though, it needs to go in order to raise funds for a valve bass head... The amp is still in the same good condition that I bought it in at the time- all the controls and functions work fine, all knobs are intact, etc. There are 4 machine screws missing from the bottom panel (the previous owner neglected to mention this at the time), but they don't affect the integrity of the amp casing one bit. It comes with the all-important rack ears and carry handle attached, plus the mains lead too. I prefer to take payment by bank transfer whenever possible (please check my positive feedback thread in my sig), but can also do Paypal if necessary. If you're interested, or have any questions about the head, PM me and let me know... Thanks for looking! Etienne

***SOLD*** Hi everyone, I've been in two minds for the last few weeks whether to sell this or not (as it plays and sounds fantastic), but I'm looking to pick up a valve bass head in the very near future to use with one of my bands, and need to raise the cash... I bought this from Jigster back in January this year. The bass was advertised as MIJ, but it's actually Made In Taiwan like the majority of the 1100S models (to be fair, this is very faintly stamped into the back of the headstock underneath the serial number- I didn't spot it for a while, and neither did Jigster, as it happens! ). Don't let that put you off though, as it's a superbly-made instrument, whatever its origin. The detail, fit & finish is better than some basses I've played costing 2 or 3 times the price- certainly far better than the majority of Fenders I've tried in my lifetime! Because of Yamaha's bizarre serial numbering system (where they recycle the whole system every 10 years), it's difficult to ascertain the precise year of manufacture, but after talking to several Yamaha aficionados on Basschat, it seems most likely to have been built in 1986. The serial number is MO22078, which according to Yamaha means that it was Unit Number 78, built on August 22nd. There are zero issues with it functionally- I gave it a thorough checkover when I bought it, and the electronics, including the switchable 3-band active circuit and all the pots, work perfectly. The bass can be run active or passive- in fact, you don't even need to install a battery for passive mode! Both pickups are strong and sound great. The neck is super stable, so no tuning issues here! Tuners and bridge work and adjust easily. Cosmetically, there's the odd ding here and there in the bodywork, but nothing out of the ordinary for a bass of this age. The bass is currently set up to my personal taste with 45-105 Ernie Ball Slinkys (with a medium high action for solid fingerstyle and pick playing), and for me, this is one of the nicest instruments I've ever gigged with. The neck is rock-solid and beautifully finished, with a really nice-looking rosewood board, and a slight birdseye to the maple on the reverse. It plays great, and sounds incredible, particularly on the solo'd neck pickup- proper classic P-bass growl, better than the real '79 P-bass I used to own! I'm looking for a firm £300 for this, plus P+P costs to send it within the UK. No offers please! Collection from Liverpool city centre is always welcome too- you'll need to bring a gig bag to take it home though, as it doesn't have a bag or case of its own... I prefer to take payment by bank transfer whenever possible (please check my positive feedback thread in my sig), but can also do Paypal if necessary. If you're interested and have any questions about the bass, PM me and let me know... Thanks for looking! Etienne

***TRADED*** Hi everyone, I acquired this from BC member daveybass last summer (after looking for one for ages), but to be honest, I've rarely used it in that whole time! 9 times out of 10, I use the DI from my G-K head for the gigs I do, which means that this is just sitting in its box. I think it needs a good home where it'll be appreciated and used... It's in very good condition throughout, and works flawlessly. The previous owner had removed the four rubber feet and stuck very strong velcro tape to the underside, but the feet are included if you want to reattach them. As mentioned, it comes boxed, with two Duracell 9V batteries installed to get you started. No instructions included- however, I will include a printed copy of a home-made user's guide (originally published by a member of T**kbass) which has loads of useful info on how the controls work and interact. I bought it for £110 (inc. postage), and think that it owes me the same... no offers please! PM me if you're interested, cheers! Etienne
I dunno about the single finest, I feel that might be yet to come in the ever changing world of amplification and instrument technology. This has always been fairly near the top of my list of great bass tone though. Nice subtle grind, enough to give the tone a bit of edge, not so much it sounds overdriven. Far as I know this basically just a well performed and well recorded P-bass+ampeg svt.
That sounds like a Stingray to my ears, but no doubt that it's a great tone! Always loved that track...

Chris is an absolute gent to deal with, whether it's in person or long distance! I recently bought his Yamaha BB1100S and am very pleased with it indeed- you can buy in confidence from this guy! Thanks for everything mate... Etienne
