I do wonder how well a gigbag would cope with something falling the neck, for example...? Similarly, I wonder how many passengers on the Titianic were thinking 'Well, it hasn't sunk yet!' right up until the point it hit the iceberg. ...and immediately afterwards thought 'I wish I'd just gone to Blackpool for my holidays this year...'
Not bad actually. The case I use has "dual-sided high density ABS plastic shell inside the case" and rediculously thick padding (which also gives a nice snug fit). When I said "decent gig bag", I didn't mean one of the £30 Warwick ones. Anyway, each to their own, and everyone has to individually assess the risks to their instrument based on their typical usage/trasportation/gigs, etc... Based on some of the above comments, I can only assume that a lot of you haven't seen or used a decent gigbag? I'm not talking about cheap "business generators", I'm talking about something that costs as much as, if not more than, a good hard case. I've owned cheap hard cases that I wouldn't trust to protect a bass as well as the gigbag I'm currently using.
2.
I don't agree, but then I generally don't have to carry my bass very far. It's usually house > car > destination > car > house. I suppose if I had a lot of walking to do, I'd rather have it on my back.
Same situation for me. I generally carry mine over my shoulder - it has a holdall kind of strap as well as rucksack straps that zip away. It gives me a free hand and also makes it easier to carry when you can't park right outside the venue, i.e. it's lighter and easier to carry than a hardcase. My gigbag is smaller than a hardcase though - there's nothing to agree or disagree with about that. Maybe only slightly, but it's the difference between it being able to fit on the back seat of a Corsa or having to be squeezed down into the rear passenger foot space, if you get what I mean. It's just my experience though. I couldn't see the point of using a hardcase after I got a good gigbag.

4. A decent gigbag is far more practical than a hard case. Only use a hard case if the bass is going in the back of a van with lots of other gear.
5.
Give me reasons for the wife so I need a 410 in the house.
Can't. Get the 1x12
6. Just read the Stooges rider in full amazing. I remember having to draft out a rider as part of something we were doing at uni; I should have been more imaginative...
7. How can I reuse attachments that are in my attachments list that I've uploaded in the past or to previous threads?

9.
Could it possibly be followed with a 'which foot should I get kicked in the balls with first?' thread - I think it should
Definitely left - you've got to hope that the average person is right footed so would probably give a fairly sh*t left footed attack to your gentleman's vegetables...
10. Did you miss the hundreds of other threads discussing exactly this...?
11. Got to be a bargain for anyone at £400. I had a Series 1 and was very happy with it; only sold due to circumstances.
12. I'm certainly a GG fan after their TecAmp clear out
13. Good idea on a thread. I'll certainly keep and eye out for any BC'ers. I'm not playing it myself but I'll be attending...
14. Ah, tempted on a 15" summer build project....
15. That's the most interesting way of spelling 'bought' that I've seen on these pages. It's like a combo of 'brought' and 'bought' but with an 'a' thrown in for extra grammatical funness
16.
Carvin used to do a really good bass kit, but it was about £350-£400, and I don't know what the availability's like. It's basically the same as one of their main models, but a DIY version.
+1 I've read nothing but good reviews about that kit. Don't know if they still make them though...
17. Ah, he had me up to the "no tallent required" bit... Did make me chuckle though
18.
Respect.
booyakashaa
19. I like the way it smells...
20. I run an OTB with a TecAmp L410 (25kg - 1200W) and it sounds meaty as f***.
21. Deffo go for something second hand for around £150 - this kind of price point should maximise your budget with regards to the quality/price trade-off. Keep an eye out locally and you might get a bargain. With regards to volume, I use a pic when playing with other musicians and this provides enough attack to be heard comfortably.
22. 5, but I only ever play 2 of them, and that was after going through about 10 in 3 years.

This is my Franken Shuker Jazz I bought from Sibob. It's been my number 1 for about a year now:
