Pedalboards

those glow tops look amazing - you could end up spending $1000 on a pedalboard though!! crazy, obviously the mac-daddy of pedalboards
  2. Best all rounder for me was my Trace 7210H that I’ve just sold. So loud for a 2x10 combo and I could instantly dial in the tone I was after…not great in the studio though but not terrible. I’m currently rockin’ an Ampeg rig – SVT-CL with the SVT410-HLF. For me it’s amazing. Everything I want from an amp and more, BUT, you need to be a body builder to shift it about – not the most practical rig and it’s not anywhere near the size/weight of the 8x10. The head weighs about as much as the 4x10 cab. Oddly enough, the best sound I’ve had in the studio came from a 1x15 Crate combo! Proper budget amp and I didn’t even think it was worth giving it ago when I was struggling with some other gear, but amazingly it sounded incredible when miced up although when mixing I do rely heavily on the DI from my pod.

then it...erm...gets used as firewood? no idea. I'll probably just have the hassle of driving it to my parents to get put at the back of the spare room for it not to be seen for 30 years, and then I'll rediscover it and by some amazingly incredible miracle it's become a much sort after piece of kit and with the money I make from flogging it I'll be able to buy a ridiculous custom made bass that will cost a gratuitous amount of dolla...or more likely it gets a 99p starting price and is sold to the highest bidder – last resort

bumpmeister... It's got to be gone by the end of June so I've got 2 months to shift it...starting to think 2 months is a little optimistic I'd consider trade offers on it for anything...quite literally anything.
  5.
I've used hotrox before, a good experience in every way
+1 on hotrox. I live in Derby but I make the trip over to Nottingham just because the guy in there (I think his name is Mark) is so knowledgeable about all things Valve and Effects related. Last time I was in there they were preparing a huge order of valves for the We Will Rock You tour - if that's not recommendation enough in itself then I don't know what is
  6. Some heavy stuff this…it’s a book of transcribed Jaco lines of songs he played with Weather Report. It goes well over the top of my head and I don’t have the patience to properly get to grips with it. It’s all tabbed out as well for those like me who are non-competent readers. I got this book free a few years ago when I subscribed to Bass Guitar mag and I’ve hardly used it so it’s completely mint and completely going to waste on me. It’s not particularly worth a lot so I’d like to start a circulation of this book much in the same vein as elom did with “Guy Pratt – My Bass and Other Animals” if there is enough interest in it? Here’s a link to the same book - http://www.musicroom.com/se/ID_No/025716/details.html I’d say it’s a steep learning curve for complete non-readers but there is tab to give you an idea of what’s going on so it’s a good learning tool. It doesn’t come with a CD though so you’ll have to acquire the Weather Report tracks by other means. The same rules that applied to elom’s book would apply to this; “First up, this is not your book. It's a communal book now. Once you've read it you must post it back on this thread to be passed on to the next person who wants it. Oh and if you've not read it inside a month then pass it on anyway slowcoach.” Hope this sparks a bit of interest and can be useful to the community. I would be interested to look at a tabbed Jamiroquai book if anyone want's to lend me out one for a couple of weeks? :brow: Show your interest on the thread....
  7. Ok guys…. I’ve been away all weekend without an internet connection and I’ve not seen this thread snowballing. I do admit I have misrepresented the situation but this has been 100% non intentional as I wouldn’t just go around badmouthing for the sake of it…I’m not out to make enemies. I hadn’t checked through the PMs that were exchanged back in early April and I should have definitely checked them before posting anything but instead assumed I had remembered the situation exactly how it was. The £500 figure was stuck in my head as being his first offer because this is what he quoted as the ebay prices so this is the first thing I remembered from the PMs off the top of my head. A £550 offer up to £580 final offer for a mint Stingray is still in my opinion a low ball offer when I had already reduced the asking price by £75 down to £675, but maybe I shouldn’t have discussed this so publically in the first place – a case of ignorance and immaturity? I perceived there to be an underlying implication that £550 was a good deal for a mint Stingray when he had suggested to me that they were going cheaper than this on the ‘bay and I should get back to him quickly so he can bid on them if I wasn’t going to sell him mine. Anyway, as I said – I didn’t purposely set out to tell a fictional story to add my 2 pence’s worth to this thread for the sake of it and I didn’t mean to get the figures wrong and cause anyone offense, it was just the way I remembered it and I’ve put my hand up and admitted I was wrong and tried to amend thing by posting this. I hope this situation is resolved, anyone can get in contact via PM to discuss it further. Cheers Edit: Edit: I do honestly feel bad for creating this situation out of a misquote but I've made myself look like a complete arse in the process as well as losing a certain amount of integrity on this forum so I feel that I've had my comeuppance. What’s your take on this?

  9. anyone...? just realised that I actually have no use for this as I use a mild comp on my pod, offer me a swap on something cheap and interesting? £30 posted is a fair price for a totally mint pedal which sells for £40 + £5ish shipping.

  11.
I vote J. And I suggest you do the same, or I will smash your God-Damn face in.
haha, a very diplomatic approach to voting...i'm sure that was the line used by one of the candidates for student president this year...
  12. very tasty looking P, looks so sexy in all black with that black graphite neck
  13. J all the way. Can't get along with wide necks...anyone want to buy a Stingray?
  14. I am definitely a bass snob and I’m not really ashamed to admit it. I bought a Stingray purely because I thought they looked cool!! How sad is that?! My first bass was a Warwick Streamer STD (not rockbass) and I think my snobbery has escalated since then although I don’t think I’ll be buying any brand new mass produced basses any time soon. I’d rather buy a rarer bass with a bit of history…the snobbery continues

I bought Joe's "orange boom" BYOC E.S.V. fuzz :brow: I was expecting it to be good but it's far surpassed any expectations that I had. Such a good fuzz and retains loads of bottom end. Smooth transaction, great guy to deal with, Cheers mate
  16.
Stingrays are not selling at the moment. Get over it.
I'm more than happy to keep it as a 2nd back up bass because i wasnt going to sell a mint Stingray for an insane £550. I was just echoing the point that people do PM insulting offers, but in all fairness "you don't get if you don't ask". I was pissed off at the offer and I wasn't sure if the guy was being serious. To tell me to "get over it" is a bit insulting as well as I don't really see that there's anything to get over? If i sell it for a reasonable amount of cash then it's all good and if I don't sell it then I've got a fantastic mint condish 4 string Stingray...where's the issue?
^^^^ wtf! who?
Well I don’t feel bad to name and shame cos it was someone who only joined up to PM me to give me that offer and since has not posted anything. User name – classic He raised it to £550 but I didn’t know if he was having a laugh or was trying to be serious. People that f*** you around should be named and shamed if only to deter other users from doing the same.
  19.
EDIT: I must say i've some seriously insulting low-ball offers on here though.... completely taking the piss.
+1 deffo someone offered me £500 for my Stingray when I was asking £700 and they implied that they were doing me a favour by offering this much...no need to ask why my response was.
  20. thats a good tune man, nice groove and I ended up listening to it all. Not bad for a £50 bass ay. Just a random question...is that a surround mix? My hardware has decoded it as 5.1 so i was just wondering if it's a surround interleaved file? if it is then i didnt know you could compress interleaved surround files. If it's not then my hardware is playing up on me...again
  21.
Anyway, with apologies to the few people who've PM'd me today with various "I can get the cash to you by carrier pigeon a pound at a time over the next 14 years" type offers, I'm now fed up good and proper so I'm going to ebay any bass items I have for sale now, purely because I've never been messed around by an ebay buyer but I'm getting messed around all the time here.
I've only been a member for about 5 weeks but I can definitely relate to this. It is a massive hassle and like bassmankev I've been on both sides of it and it's a massive pain in the arse. It's an issue with buying and selling through a forum, I doubt there's a way to regulate it. I guess it's a hassle that you have to put up with when selling stuff fee free.
