6.
Standing waves are a form of resonance. It is usually found in longer rooms and effects bass frequencies waveforms are much "longer" and more powerful than high frequencies (told you bass was better than guitar). Basically your waveform could of been reflected off of the far wall and if to peaks of a wave hit each other they add together and at that point the bass frequencies will sound louder. Its not really amp science but acoustics. I find it hard to explain without pictures and im not at my home comp, may try again later
it happens in every room though to a certain extent? my limited understanding of it would be that standing waves can only occur in rooms with parallel walls and typically only affect frequencies between about 70Hz and 300Hz? so boxy rooms and bass guitar are terrible for it and occasionally recording studios are built at an odd shape to avoid this although any room with a flat ceiling will naturally have 2 parallel sides (floor and ceiling) although it would have to be a pretty high ceiling to cause problems. The formula for determining the fundamental frequency of a standing wave for a particular room dimension is: fo = V / 2d Where: fo = Fundamental frequency of the standing wave V = Velocity of sound (1130 feet per second) d = Room dimension being considered in feet (length, width, or height) ^^that's just something from some lecture notes to help you work out what frequencies are likely to cause you problems in a particular space. Don't know if what I've said is 100% accurate or relevant.
 7. I had a similar grill problem with an old 4x10 Trace cab that I owned for about 6 months. The only thing I could do to stop the grill rattling was to just take it off. It didn’t rattle all the time so occasionally it was alright. It was quite easy to take out though because the tuned port covers actually held the grill on so I didn’t actually have to use the screws so it only took about 20 seconds to put it on/take it off. Don’t know if I would have settled for that solution if it took longer and screws were involved. The same thing happened on my 7210H Trace combo that I've just sold so I used to do the same thing on that...just take the grill off. Don’t know if that helps at all but I’m sure there are ways of reducing the vibration across the grill and I’m sure it’s a very common issue with cabs that have a metal grill. Lucky my SVT is cloth

 9.
Can there really be moderators on this forum who don't understand that a Mac is a legitimate piece of musical equipment, going right back to the days of Thomas Dolby in the 1980s? Come on guys, cut the man some slack. A Mac when bundled with a firewire interface is still a piece of 'Other musically related stuff', just like any guitar, guitar amp, synth, whatever.
+1 Was it established with the mods that he fundamentally wasn't allowed to list the mac? I’m not a mac guy myself but I do acknowledge that they are the industry standard in digital recording systems – much more powerful and stable than Windows based systems. I don’t know of any PT HD studios that are not based around a power mac.
 10. are you seriously trying to sell this?...put a little effort in and you might get some interest. Pictures are a must as well as a basic description of working order/condition (not as basic as "good condition" though), maybe the reason why you're selling it + other general info? I've heard through the grapevine that these combos are pretty good but I think you're gonna really struggle to sell it with only "great condition" in the description. Spend 5 mins putting a good ad together and you never know, it might actually sell. Spend some time talking to people on the forum and you may generate a good reputation and with that comes confidence from others to buy your gear. Good luck though anyway. PS – still no introduction? You didn’t change anything on your last post for the amp and it didn’t sell so don’t expect miracles with this either.

 13. anyone thinking about buying this but worried that it's crap could also buy this ... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=19091 ... from mr.sibs and have yourself a mint and modded CS-3 for the price of a standard new one...tempting ay :brow:
 14.
How well does this work with bass frequencies? Will it give the sort of thump sound on Faith No More's "Epic"?
I’m probably not the best to answer that one mate cos I’ve never used it properly. If I plugged it in now I wouldn’t know what to do with it so I couldn’t judge what it’s really doing. I’m sure others have more experience with it so they might be able to enlighten us... It doesn’t lose anything from the frequency range though, nothing at all that I can tell.
 15.
its a lovely bass 13 watchers, 370 odd views in less than 3 days, but no offers gettin frustrating, i need money
if money is the issue and you need it quick then you could probably sell the bass tomorrow for £600. I'm not passing judgement on anything that has previously been said, just that @ £600 you would be making money on what you paid for it as well as getting a quick fix of cash...win/win situation? it's a great looking bass either way though man and good luck with shifting it
 16. £150 for a 5 string RockBass in good condish...bargain
 17. how the hell is this so close?!
 18. cheers for the info, I might have to give Panic Music a call later on to see if they can offer advice and possibly sell me a fan
 19. The fan at the front of my SVT-CL is a bit noisy (I know this is quite normal) but I was wondering if there’s any way I can change it for a silent fan cos it can be a bit annoying. Does anyone know how/if it could be done and what fan I should use?

My only issue is that my patch cables and power cables aren't long enough
