Yeah i have even worked out how to construct them but i cant seem to use them for anything apart from minor7ths,when noodling. It would be nice if there was some good tab for bass chords,i have always wanted to play pure imagination the song that gene wilder sings in willy wonka and the chocolate factory.

Girls love it,and i love funky music and girls,i love slap.

I did a soundman job for a gig in county durham not realising that it was some kind of skrewdriver skinhead affair,it was terrifying when they kicked off with each other.Believe me these people are bizarre, however i pulled.Even weirder.
I know this has been here before but this has really annoyed me..why oh why do people hold Flea in such high regard? it baffles me??...especially against Wooten!! Victor is on a different planet to him............i could play the repetitive stuff that Flea is playing here..(not that i would even think about wanting to)..please tell me that he is better than this.. Excuse my rant..i just dont get the Flea thing, Meshell or Pino are simpler and way better..IMHO i realise this youtube vid may be an unrealistic VS's but there are some that do hold Flea up there with the greats...for me hes an average bass player in a popular band..nothing to special about him..Claypool is far superior... dont get me wrong i love some of Flea's funk fingerstyle but hes not that good..his repetitive slap is rubbish IMO... i await my fate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKXD622nbos...feature=related this guy is the man, his timing and funk is supreme at 50 seconds.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAkvBqp8R8E
I do get your drift mate, but hes a good player in the sense he plays very hard and fast, remember the chillis are not really a funk band but a punk band with a funk influence. My fingers could not stand up to that punishment i have pianists hands,i would always go for a chaka groove over a chilli hammer, but they are still a fantastic band i love.

In The Hand of the Inevitable is a great album i love journey, the instumental.I didnt like there version of starsky and hutch/sneakin in the back,it was to hammondy, the original one by tom scott is much better, although i have not been able to find the exact same version as the one off the tv show, this is the same with the taxi theme/angela which bob james did,i just cant find the version used on the show which has a much more rhodesy feel about it and is a lot better
I would make a guess that the musicians used were from the LA A list and would have included Earl Palmer on drums and Carol Kaye on Bass.
I thought about carol kaye, she needs more appreciation, all that kaye/jamerson bullshit annoys me they were both awesome and am i right in thinking she did a lot more, james was perfection but i think she was to.

I thought it was that guy who played on acid jazz classic friendly pressure by jhelisa. But what do i know,he was very good though.Wonder what hes up to now.

Been watching a lot of these movies lately, clint is the dogs,i have often wondered who lalo schfrin used band wise for his funky soundtracks in these movies. The enforcer sounds especially good,a reaaly cool jazzy funky soundtrack.I just got the original rollerball soundtrack by Andre previn and this is in the same league.Long live obscure session musicians of the 70s.

I just dug in and went easy,as long as you are careful its quite easy,to get the action low etc, plus you get to know the instrument more. And remember setting up a bass is like making love to a beautiful woman,as swiss tony would say

the only thing that puts me off flats is the slap tone,do a lot of funk players use flats, when did roundwounds start to dominate.
I don't really know Megadeth much at all, but it sounds to me like you'll have that down if you give some time to practicing with a metronome. It looks difficult but you are nearly there with the fast parts. Nice one! This is one of me doing a Zappa number .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=focGv64Wj0A I hardly ever play with a pick but you kind of have to to get Scott Thunes parts
do zoot allures mate,good player.

I have been having a go at runaway by jamiroquai, its harder than it sounds,i was just wondering what setup, pedals etc the bass player is using to get that lovely tone, please dont anybody say its all in his fingers as i know how heavily produced jamiroquai are.

Buy yourself some naga champa incense from a hippy or head shop, its very strong proper temple incense.Make each case into a tent shape and burn some sticks underneath,i promise this will get rid of the musty smell.

i assume there would me slightly more resonance with a natural finish,i should think the difference is tiny though.
Gotta agree with Clarky and others. Strangers in the night, brill album from one of the most underatted and out of it bands to have come from these shores. If you want the ultimate live album, try the Grateful dead. They have a series of cd`s called Dicks Picks which were taken from the desk usually. Take Dicks Picks 24. For the 1st song it has only bass, drums and vocals until eventually the sound guys get it right and you hear the full band. What you get is the songs, warts and all. Part of their charm for me. They were also notorius for forgetting lyrics as well, even when they wrote the songs themselves! Great band but an aquired taste. The gig was a test of The Wall Of Sound Pa. How many transit vans to shift this lot? Jez
I like the dead they are very easy on the ears, dark star is a great tune.

Even james browns sex machine album, its been going on years, zappa used to do the opposite and paste bits of live recorded guitar solos into studio tracks.

Anything thats fast with 16th notes will help you a lot,try hit me with your rythm stick,i always find after i have attempted to play this a few times i can make 16th note patterns easily,it frees your fingers up.

I have recently got in to a lot of 70s south american stuff, bands like banda black rio and azymuth there is some awesome south american bass players,i have tried to play it but the timing is quite hard,i was wondering if there was a particular scale or mode that is common in latin music.
