2.
Yes, white will be hot and the two blacks go to earth i.e. one pickup neg and one shield.
Thanks for your help mate,if im left with these 2 shield wires once the other wires from the pickups have been attatched to a blend pot,can i just attach them to the earth/ground screw thats in the cavity? Once again thanks for your knowledge.Mark
3. Doing some upgrades at the moment,I have 3 wires 2 black and one white coming from each pickup in my fender jazz which is the hot and which is the common? I would assume the 3rd wire from each pickup is for shielding each pickup cavity, anyone know.Cheers.
4.
Cheers mate, its a shame no one has come up with a smaller type of 9 volt battery yet.Has anyone here fitted one of these befor.
Anyone on the evening slot know about these.
5.
Judging by the diagrams I have seen I doubt you could fit both the circuit and the 9v battery under the control plate - would probably require a separate battery compartment. If you intend the bass to active forever I think a separate compartment is preferable even with the more expensive circuits, so you don't disturb the wiring when changing the battery in a hurry.
Cheers mate, its a shame no one has come up with a smaller type of 9 volt battery yet.Has anyone here fitted one of these befor.
6. Im thinking about fitting an artec se2A preamp (the 2 band one) into my highway one jazz, does any one know if this with the 9 volt battery is going to fit into the control cavity,i hope it will as i cant afford audere or east at the moment but really need a bit more of a boost on board, thanks for your help in advance.
7.
It's got to be at least on any short list. What were you trying to remove from your body?
I reckon there might be somebody behind him
8. Some of these photos are very similar to the up the arse corner gallery in viz.
9. They had to pay a lot of death duties, even his mansion went, poor bugger, they can even get you when you are dead.
10.
I was working on my book all day today and needed to unwind so, with Basschat learner readers in mind, I transcribed Will Lee's bass line of Fagen's 'Walk Between The Raindrops' off his classic 1982 recording 'The Nightfly'. The chart is fairly easy to read but it is the groove that carrise the learning opportunity. The chords are mine so, if I am wrong, please let me know.
Cheers bilbo more fagan and the dan please.
11. Sounds great wish i had gone.
12.
I've always loved this track form the Bros Johnson debut album. I know Louis is using some kind of envelope filter, but which one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7_lhfpN1vg
Sounds like a mutron to me.
13. My question was not about cultivating a style for one type of genre or one band in particular. It was about my basslines as a whole. The fact that you think one person/band defined an entire genre is quite clearly ludicrous and with that one sweeping statement you have dismissed a considerable piece of music history. Furthermore, bands like Sham 69 and UK Subs represent only a small percentage of the genre. Indeed, the fact that you lack the insight to identify derivatives or sub-genres galvanises my belief that you are commenting from a position not borne of education, but of generalisation. You need to go off and listen to a wider range of examples and then reconsider your position. This thread is about development of creative basslines, irrespective of genre so please keep it on topic - if you want to debate punk as a genre, may I suggest you start a new thread. But please do so only after you have educated yourself properly on the genre, or you run the risk of making comments that will again reinforce the view that you have a propensity for narrowminded/uninformed views of musical genres and history. You started it!
14.
Ha. Guess who doesn't understand the versatility of punk as a genre.
It depends what you class as punk really would you say you were in a punk band? . In my book there was only one real punk band and malcolm maclaren invented them.I always thought the ethos of "real"punk was pretending you couldnt play very well, and thats why bands who could ie the stranglers had trouble fitting in to start with. Im sorry but i dont find bands like sham 69 and the uk subs very versatile but then i dont think they are supposed to be.
15. try string skipping moving around the neck more,if you are playing oi/punk type three chord stuff though i would keep it simple and do exactly what you are doing.
16. Sounds like a vestax or vester to me they are a cheapo version that were out a few years ago.
17. Can building one of these sites make you any cash? i wouldnt mind doing a tutorial site of my own if its worth it.
18. Get any of the aturia classic vsts or any of the higher end vst type ones,i have a couple of bits of old roland, korg hardware and they are great but are getting a bit unreliable now.
19. Mate to be honest you get what you pay for. There is a hell of a difference sound wise between a top vst synth and a free one,i have been working with them for years and it is worth the the investment if you want to go down this route.Think about the difference between an 80s bontempi and an 80s roland juno, its the same difference in software,i love high end vsts. Some free stuff is ok but if you want to do this well you must get a decent soundcard and decent software,or people will know, believe me. If you need help vst wise pm me some are a lot more bang for your buck than others.
20. My qtrons for sale if you want it.
21. When i get more settled i would love to build a high quality jazz out of stuff like this, the only part that scares me is the neck building.
22. I can confirm this is entwhistles bass.I bough one of buddy hollys old strats off the same seller for 500000 pounds last week. Apparantly buddy the crickets and the tour compere des oconner couldnt find digs one night so they stayed over at this house for the night, buddy was sleeping in the attic and forgot to take his guitar with him when he left in the morning.I believe one of des,s old suits is also up for grabs better get in quick though.
23. Drunk tonight and been hearing some 80s stuff. Is it just me or were these guys quite a good band.I thought Tears for fears was pop sh*te when i was 12 but now i realise they were very good and could play as well.
24. Anyone know where its been lifted from?
25.
Thanks. Like everyone else I'm having difficulty finding any info at all on the manufacturer. Seems a bit odd for such a quality looking instrument unless its a privateer custom builder? Serial number of 0005 suggests a small and exclusive operation!
It sounds italian to me i would be very tempted if i could find some more info on the builder.
