1. Hopefully this is the right place for this as it's not ebay. A good loud rig for sale for someone. Here's the link
2. Don't suppose you can find out where it was made? e.g. Japan, Korea, Taiwan etc...
3. That's a shame mate as that sort of design really appeals. I also liked the concept of the Vektor and DPA but again price is an inhibitor. If anyone can crack the portable pickup market with something truly portable and good sounding on all instruments they'll be minted At least you got your money back.
4. You'll have to change your avatar Enjoy.
5. That looks in really good shape. Enjoy
6.
Yes please, either a separate section for upright related instruments and equipment for sale or trade on here, or in the for sale, but keep it upright!
+1
7. DB fits in a Yaris as well. Rear seat down, scroll between the front seats.
8. Where are you based in Yorkshire?
9.
Yes, its your friend again. Are you aware that importing from the US to Europe will usually cost you 20% import taxes on top of the price plus shipping? That is the case in the UK and is very likely the case for the remainder of Europe. Thus, a 'cheap' bass in the US may end up as an 'expensive' bass for someone in Europe.
I think Bob can arrange for his Bulgarian basses to be shipped direct in Europe. They seem a sound investment. Eoz, buying without trying is a difficult decision and not one I'd personally do but you don't seem to have many options. Gollihur's has a great worldwide reputation so it would be a safer bet getting one of his instruments.
10. Nothing to be nervous about, get stuck in and enjoy
11.
Fantastic price for a pair of these great cabs
++1
12. I'll take it too if steve doesn't want it
13. That bass is a nice looker. How's the string tension with those Innovation ultra blacks? Good luck with the sale, a bargain for someone.
14. Strangely drawn to the gut D and G. Do you know what make they are?
15.
Jan was an excellent shout chaps! He was welcoming and even did some more work than just reseting the sound post. I'd highly recommend him to anyone in the Leeds area. He also makes and repairs violins, violas, cellos, guitars and anything else stringy. Problem solved!
Nice one. I love his front room, full of all sorts of stringed instruments.
16. Looking for a cheap and cheerful quiver. I've been talked into buying and then actually using a bow. It's a German style and I'm awful at it. I'm sure I'll be requested to stop using it shortly. Posted in the wanted section as well.
17.
Thanks for that link Tom. I will keep an eye on that auction, although, I still have not really had any response/opinions from anyone regarding the Bassix basses, so, still undecided at this stage. Ricky
I've been in touch with Alan on a number of occasions about his basses. He's actually producing a carbon fibre double bass with a removable neck for a very reasonable price. Just haven't been able to get down there to try one out. There was a bassix bass making the rounds here with good feedback regarding it's tone and playability. Alan's basses get good reviews from the research I've done, as good as any EUB and way better than the cheapo ones. The others that have seemed interesting where the Bespoke basses which are supposed to sound rather nice. slobluesineon here has one so maybe he can chime in. I don't have much experience with EUB's so can't comment too much. Best to find one to try. Where are you located? Alan seems very approachable and I believe you can arrange to visit the shop to try what he has in stock.
18. It's great to see so many taking up DB. I've been an on again off again DB player for years. Although I love playing electric bass I must say that there is no gratification like playing DB. You get out what you put in and when your in a groove and your bass is singing, well, life aint all that bad.
19. There's a Bassix EUB on ebay
20. Got any more full length pics? Interesting bass.
21. The picture on the left looks normal, many basses I've seen are finished like that. I'd get out there and play a lot of instruments and find one that has the sound you're after. My bass is one of those ugly orange ones and I'd prefer a different shape BUT, it gets the sound I want and that is more important to me than the looks at this point. My one "playability" factor is the shape of the neck. I find it hard to play basses with a V contoured neck and the thin necks are tricky as well. Mine is a D contour and as wide as the business end of a Louisville Slugger (base ball bat) but that's what suites me and my playing style. I guess aesthetics aren't as big an issue for me.

23.
Bloody gone and let the sound post fall over in my Czech Ease like a proper amateur idiot! Does anyone know a place/person where I can get it reset, I don't have the special tool.
Call Jan at Chapel Allerton Strings in Leeds. He's a top bloke and a great luthier.
24.
I could sell you an expensive bass if you need one!
There's a few threads on TB about these as well as a bit on the great one Bob's website.
