  2. Took a better picture of the 55-01 today, still loving this one.
  3. They were but as Pete says they were the budget end of the range. Price point aside most 12 offerings these days are all 300w and above. Agreed I wouldn't know about the construction aspects other than they seem pretty solid. I'm going to take one apart to get the internal dimensions so I guess I'll know more then. They are good as they are but I do think they're ripe for the pimping :-)
  4. I shall get it apart & get all the measurements including the internal dimensions, the port does have dividers & I'll investigate those too. I'll have a Google but I do try to avoid talkbass as a rule In terms of euphemisms I have definitely pushed one harder than I perhaps should have but it's still useable. I think they're great cabs but underpowered by today's standards hense the desire to load them with something more capable. I could buy something else but I'm all for experimenting.

  6. Thanks again for all your help! The cab dimensions (external) are: H410mm, W440mm, D300mm & the port is a full width shelf and is 120mm from the front grille to where the wood ends & the void begins. Thanks again chaps.
  7. That's very kind of you @Gottastopbuyinggear the cabs are Genz-Benz Focus 1-12's, I'll get the engineers rule out & take measurements if you are sure you don't mind. I'm not really after massive improvements in sound I'd just like to be able to drive them harder & one has started to crack & pop at higher volume's.
  8. Thanks for your input chaps. I guess then @Bill Fitzmaurice without the modelling software or the data for the existing drivers any change could just be an expensive & futile experiment. The cabs in question are Genz-Benz so I wonder if Mr Genzler could advise on suitable replacements
  9. Just curious as to what factors should be taken into account when replacing existing drivers in front ported cabs. I have a couple of 12's that are rated at 200w each & they are starting to sound a bit tired. I'd rather keep the cabs & upgrade the drivers (with a higher rating) than buy new ones but I know there's more to it than just chucking anything that fits in. Any advice gratefully received. Ta
  10. I'm sure someone here had one with RBX humbuckers in it?

    Garbev

Met Gary on a Maccies car park & bought a cab from him, hassle free transaction would definitely buy from him again. Cheers Gary!
  12. Alice Thompson's Solo Piano, no bass but a great way to unwind after a busy night shift.
  13. "It's My Life" has a cracking bass line to it & it's one of those tracks that I'll never get bored of playing. Everytime I play it I do this I learnt it quite early on & it's well worth the effort, it's the little runs between the verses & chorus, get me everytime.
  14. Can't go wrong with the Shuttle, kinda wish I'd kept mine.
  15. I'll throw Westfield into the mix, think I paid £65 used for mine before I b@st@rdised it to look "roadworn" (it was a phase I went through), my brother still plays it & it's perfectly useable with great sounding pickups.
  16. Extra long D'addario's will fit if they're your flavour.
  17. Definitely, I'd only played the 55-02 previously & was worried how this one would stand up to it. It does a great job, no better or worse just different.
  18. I used to ogle Lakland basses back in the days when all I played were cheap Yamaha's (there's nothing wrong with cheap Yamaha's) but when funds permitted I went in a completely different direction (expensive Yamaha's & Musicman) & never gave them a second look, until.............. My glorious wife bought a 55-01 for my birthday, now I'm hooked, the neck just feels great & is so playable.
  19. Graham bought a cab from me last night, met at the services as agreed & a really pleasant exchange. Thanks Graham, enjoy the Berg.
  20. Yeah I had noticed & I'm weighing up the options, cheers.
  21. Somehow I have ended up with one Genz Benz Focus 112 & one Bergantino EX112 so in the interest of symmetry I'm offering trade's. Either my Berg & cash my way for your Genz or my Genz & cash your way for your Berg, I'm not sure that even makes sense 😂 Both in great condition & located in the West Midlands. More info/pics on request.
