  1. Yesterday we auditioned three drummers for our trio, it all went really well in terms of they all turned up & were really competent players. The first chap was an older guy (not a problem in the slightest) who's mostly been a blues player in some really successfull outfits, bags of experience & a really nice style but a little rusty as it's been a while since he played. I'm sure given a rehearsal or two he'd really come into his own. The second fellow (about our age, 40ish) was again very competent with an extensive CV in rock & glam rock bands. He was an incredibly hard hitter to the point that I had to dig in quite a bit & during the audition I thought maybe he'd be to loud for us but he recorded the whole thing & when he sent the files last night I was quite surprised at just how balanced we sounded. He also had the gear & ability to load loops into one of those thingies, an advantage in a trio for sure. The third chap was much younger & seemed very nervous to the point where he struggled to set up his gear, he wasn't as experienced as the other guys but his playing was on point & he did take the audition at the last minute. I know it shouldn't be relevant but I'm not convinced his personality is a perfect match. Gigs would be fine but we do like a laugh, I'd be hoping that this was just a nerves thing & with a couple of rehearsals he'd be out of his shell. I guess what I'm getting at is how would you decide? Obviously I'm not asking the BC massive to choose for us but what factors should we take into account to ensure that we move forward with no regrets! It's a conundrum for sure! (Maybe another round of longer auditions?)
  2. Nah.......... However, I'm about to start building a new pedalboard that will be 'lightly' torched & sealed.
  3. Are they broadcasting this online by any chance? I'd love to go but don't fancy the commute to the capital!
  4. Thanks Phil, I had looked at his site (& bookmarked it) but just thought I'd better ask the masses first! I'll drop him an email to see if aluminium is an option!
  5. I'm looking to refurb my cabs this year & wondered if the BC membership has any recommendations of where to get custom grills made? I'd be wanting rugged aluminium stuff! Cheers
  6. Thanks for the comprehensive reply, I think I get it now! Cheers
  7. Apologies if this seems like a daft question & I have used the search function to no avail but could someone explain the Balanced Input (xlr) on the front of my LMii? My main question is would there be any benefit running my signal from the Balanced Output of my incoming Zoom B3 into the Balanced Input of the LM? Cheers in advance!
  8. Transcribe software, laptop, interface, headphones! Works for me.
  9. Maybe have a look at the free stuff that Scott puts on YouTube then decide if he's right for you?
  10. Makes perfect manufacturing sense! That was mine, I miss it in some respect, was just a pain to get it in & out of the car!
  11. Have you considered getting rid of it? My 425 has VVT now & is much better for it!
  12. I used a 2/10 contour with a 2/10 focus cab. Sounded great & the focus cabs come up for sale often. I still use two focus 1/12's & am more than happy with them.
  13. I had a Shuttle 6 & it was great, loved the mids controls. Sold it to Phil Mann in the end!
  14. I had the same experience and agree it's very frustrating, however....... It's a learnable skill, what has been working for me is loads of ear training and working on audiation. It's sounds stupid (and obvious) now when I think about it and it took me years to figure out that playing any instrument well enough to improvise comes from being musical within. I now believe that to make the most of your practice you should spend at least as much time working on your musicianship as working bass in hand. Just learning your intervals can pay huge dividends, if you know them well you'll keep up enough in a jam. Get comfortable with singing and sing everything, scales, bass lines, melodies everything!

  16. LMii & GB Focus cabs, all bought on the cheap (used) & perfect for my needs.
  17. I tried that! They ended up in the garage for years, I'm a Bass Hoarder
  18. All the packaging my new Lâkland came in, ideal if you're posting a bass anytime soon! Collection from Wolverhampton/Walsall area, I'll keep it for a week then it's off to the tip.
  19. I'm a proper bender, I even bend for total strangers at the weekend, but I play funk so being open about ones bending is perfectly normal.
