Its a shame that MarkBass discontinued the 152 along with quite a few of the "interesting" combinations (like the 106's and the club cabinets), which lots of other manufacturers have also had go at too now, but have settled on a smaller range of the single or two speaker options. They were just not selling enough to support it. If you look at the Bergantino and Vanderkley options they've pretty much gone the same way, but in their case not a 15" to be seen anywhere....
It is a shame, I would love to run both the 152 and the 106 but I just can't find one around. Also Mark heads only go to 4ohms

Glad you have joined the club MoJoKe. I have always used 15s in a bass rig, I always find I miss the bottom end with any other setup. I upgraded last year to a Markbass 152 with LMIII and love the sound! Also the looks I get when I carry it in alone are pretty funny. Now I just need to finish the pedalboard off and I am in rig heaven. Here is last weeks setup, with my new Alpher 5 string.

My first custom build by Alpher Instruments = Complete!
StephenYork replied to Jellyfish's topic in Build Diaries
Had my Alpher Bass now for a week and just can't put it down! You got some killer wood choices there, I look forward to seeing this come together. -
Sorry guys I have just had a last minute booking to be best man at a mates wedding so I won't be around, I will have to meet up with some people soon!
-
Just got a neck from Telebass, great to deal with, postage was quick and kept me up to date with everything. So well packed it took me 20mins to get into it! Why can't every retailer work like this?

What about Shuffler? The rhythm section from Jamiroquai and Dan Pierce on vocals. Killer line up

I gig in a covers band and use my Littlemark III with the BC212 alone and it kicks butt. Most of these are medium sized pubs. I'd recommend the BC212 for sound, weight and price.

Alpher Instruments - 5 String Bass Build
StephenYork replied to StephenYork's topic in Build Diaries
So after a long 3 months I received this picture!! Only problem is I am not able to pick it up until the end of the month so its another 3 week wait until I can finally play her. In the mean time I'm going to put up with Chris saying how nice it is and sending me pictures and it shall sit on the wall of Alpher along with the Mk2 and new prototype. I'm sure Chris will be along shortly to inform us all of what we are drooling over. Cheers for having a look, I will upload some more pictures and maybe a sound clip/video in the near future. -

Alpher Instruments - 5 String Bass Build
I saw this at one stage in the build - the body weighs nothing!
That was a massive thing for me. I currently gig with an Ibanez SR505 which is a real featherweight bass. Most of my gigs are 2-3hours so anything heavy really kills me. -
I was looking forward to this but my mate has decided to plan his wedding for the this day! So I won't be around all day, do you think I could turn up later in the afternoon? If I was to come I'd bring my custom bass that I'm having built at the moment. EBS HD350+ EBS cab -The Greek Roscoe Century 3005/ Overwater J4 - The Greek Markbass Mini CMD121P & NY121 cab - Lozz196 Some form of Precision - Lozz196 (very predictable there) Ebay double neck kit finished - irvined Alpher Custom Bass - StephenYork

Hi everybody, I am finally getting round to making a thread about my first custom bass build, only 3 months late. First things first, go check out Alpher Instruments over on facebook and see some of the great work they are doing. I got to know these guys over talks and eventually me up with them in Nov/Dec 2012 to discuss and try out what they had produced already and as you can tell I liked it. So down to it, the specs are as follows: Swamp Ash Body/Wenge Veneer/Walnut top Rosewood neck/Pau Ferro(Morado) Fretboard Wizard Custom wound pickups John East Pre-amp Hipshot tuners and hardware As we are 3 months in I will try to get these pictures in the right order! Wood! Putting the blanks together Initial routing Showing the Rosewood veneer between the Walnut and Ash Shaping Teasing me, truss rod and graphite reinforcement in. Basic headstock shape The one and only inlay - made out of Ebony! Gluing up the neck Wizard pickups arrive I have some more pictures I will post this week.

London Bass Guitar Show 2013 - 2 and 3/03/2013
StephenYork replied to Silvia Bluejay's topic in Events
My understanding is that "Early bird" was the name given to those tickets that were purchased before November 12 2012. They don't allow you to get into the show any earlier than anyone else. (Mine's one of those too.)
I feel a bit stupid now! Anyway see you guys there -
London Bass Guitar Show 2013 - 2 and 3/03/2013
StephenYork replied to Silvia Bluejay's topic in Events
Hey, I will be there on the Saturday, managed to get an early bird ticket for Christmas. Any idea what time the early birds are allowed in? It doesn't say on the website or tickets!? Would be good to meet up with a few people, will pop along to the BC stand to say hi. -
I would recommend going Bass > DBX > Sansamp > LM (input) > tuner out to korg That way the compressor is first and the Sansamp shapes the tone after that, with my experience of the LMIII it doesn't colour your tone so shouldn't spoil the Sansamp.

Most hateful song on your covers bands set list?
StephenYork replied to Dave Tipping's topic in General Discussion
I have thankfully left the band that done Sweet Home Alabama at every gig! My word I'd rather dip my nuts in boiling fat than play that again. I now have to play Girls On Film and Dakota which are boring. -

Ok I can't get the pictures to upload but here are the links. Here is the new "mini" rig and my normal rig for comparison. http://i1343.photobu...zps574e40a8.jpg
