1.
Your = statement of ownership. NOT "your a bass player" aaagggggghhhhhh!! You're = abbreviation of "you are". As in "You're a bass player There = as in "you left your bass over there". Their = as in "their instruments were in the van over there when they got nicked" See, it's easy. Now get it correct. Please.
Also: they're = contraction of 'they are' e.g. 'they're still in the van'
 2. Good job you sold the Rickenbacker before joining this forum! (see here) The fact that it was ousted by a Westone speaks volumes...
 3. Lovely clean clear sound and well-balanced mix. As a sometime guitarist I would have considered a different sound for the overdriven lead guitar, with less drive and reverb, but that's just my personal preference.
 4.

Picking out the awkward ones from next gig's set list;
Learning new stuff.
EDIT: I'm not a pro btw, just semi-pro.
 5.
Pedants!
At least you spelled the word correctly.
 6. 99% of the gigs I play involve a smallish PA that is used for vocals only. If I were to run my bass into the PA, there just wouldn't be the headroom. For the remaining 1%, at least I have a decent sound on stage that I can work with, even if the sound engineer [s]ruins[/s] changes it for FOH.
 7.
At least every squier I've played has been on par with every bass ever, should have saved all that money wasted and brought a lord.
Brought=fetched; bought=purchased. That suffices.
 8.
I agree with not getting what all the fuss is about but what happens on any forum is that someone says that a group are crap and then the next person comes along and defends them by saying that aren't crap. What amazes me is that anyone would be bothered to reply. I have lots of favourite artists and couldn't give a flying one if anyone likes them or not. If someone loved them or hated them it couldn't possibly make any difference to me liking them or not. I don't listen through other people's ears so why would it?
I totally disagree with... Oh. I'll get me coat...
 9. I was going to join the back of the queue marked 'Mumford? Don't get what all the fuss is about', and perhaps say 'meh', but having learned 'Little Lion Man' for a dep gig, I have to admit that song is quite catchy. Can't see me buying any of their stuff though.
 10. Although the original designs got so much right, surely few will argue if I say that (1) much current Fender output misses the mark, and (2) many other makers' takes on these designs do the job better? **hides under table and places hands over ears**
 11. Still here, just taking up room in my cupboard as number of cases and gig-bags exceeds number of basses in the ratio 2:1!
 12. I have used exhaust bandage - basically adhesive aluminium tape. You won't be able to solder to it, so run a wire from the earth side of the circuit to a small solder tag and put a little screw through the tape into the wood of the body.
 13. This takes me back to the EP days of the late 70s. Wish I had something more useful to contribute though!
 14.
Slight divergence if the OP doesn't object, but out of interest do people prefer passive or active on a fretless bass? Personally I'm in the active camp. My ACG has an all singing all dancing filter EQ and I've just popped an Audere pre into my Letts bass and to my ears it improves the tone.
No objections from this quarter. I have only tried passive so far. I have posted on this topic elsewhere on this forum, but the combination of a good pickup and well-tapered passive tone control is all I need.
 15. andyonbass of this forum now plays solely fretless iirc.
 16. ... or is fretless bass addictive once you pass a certain point? I am busily practising for an upcoming dep gig, and decided to do use the opportunity to climb the learning curve on my Yamaha fretless. Now I can't put the darned thing down! Going back to frets feels all clunky. There are downsides (mainly my intonation, which is improving) but it's just so rewarding. Have others experienced this phenomenon?
 17. Woah back dazza - take the trip up there and try it first. I was all GAS over the cream and torty Sandberg Jazz-clone (TT4 to be precise) but ended up with a VM 4 (P+MM configuration) - I just didn't think the sound of the J-type was that special. YMMV but defo try it first!
 18.
Looks a little bit wrong to me to have a PJ configuration on a Jazz Body , just like it looks very wrong to have two Jazz pickups on a Precision body . I'm sure most other folks won't be bothered by it , though .
Never liked the PJ configuration myself.
 19. Selling to buy a new washing machine eh? Must have a lot of trouble with household appliances, because they've sold a fair few basses... oh and sold a washer/drier in December! so 6 months of trips down the bag-wash.
 20. Still hankering after an AB1 5-er after playing one last year at Bass Direct, but it requires the conjunction of the following:

Used example up for sale;
Uncommitted fundage on my part; and
Right place, right time!
21. Sorry but this seems too much like hard work to me, and as soon as you start playing the instrument and sweating all over it, off you go again
 22. Bump! Without this gig bag, a bump like that could leave a nasty dent...
 23.
Thanks guys. I'M playing an Epiphone Thunderbird pro 4 with active pickups. I'm just getting back into playing after a long hiatus and want to be doing something pretty heavy. Trying to get a doom metal band going, but not going to be downtuned too far. Also looking to get into a wedding type of outfit as well, so looking something loud but versatile as well. Thanks for your help
Doom metal wedding band? Hmmm...
