1. High quality Ritter gig bag, good thick padding, plenty of pockets and compartments for all your bits and pieces, 2 shoulder straps plus waist strap - exercise caution at doorways! Price includes UK mainland delivery, payment by bank transfer or PayPal. Garden chair not included
 2. Whereabouts in the UK are you? Also, what is the neck width by the nut? Cheers.
 3. Just subscribed to this thread but need to sell my Strat to get in the zone funds-wise!
 4.

Needed bass on my home recordings.
Fancied a change.
Couldn't stop after that!
5.
Have You Met Miss Jones
Have a listen to Ray Brown on Oscar Peterson's We Get Requests album from 1964. Sublime!
 6. Nah, you're always going to get people trying their luck whatever you do. At the risk of stating the obvious (always worthwhile IMO), the point of '...or trade value' is so that those looking only to trade have to indicate what they think their item is worth.
 7. Kubicki Factor bass - didn't that have an extra 2 frets on the E-string that you could bring into play with a cunning lever?
 8. IMO to merit a tribute act, a band/artiste should have had enough 'hits' to fill a 90-minute set. Let me now qualify that: To play only to fans of that band, you just need to learn the band's 'best' material; but to fill venues with average gig-going punters, the band needs to have had a lot of mainstream hits. Hence, good choices for tribute bands: Queen, Rolling Stones, Abba... Not so good choices: Culture Club, T'Pau, Dr Feelgood... If 3-hit wonders have to join forces with others to fill the bill at a Butlins weekender, what hope for the tribute bands? And when I saw Wilko Johnson, he was on a triple-header with John Otway and the Hamsters. My advice: Yes do the Feelgoods stuff, but add in other material from the same genre/decade/trend or whatever. Ian Dury and the Blockheads? The Pirates? Dave Edmunds etc? EDIT: In short, what crez5150 said ∧∧∧
 9. When ambient came to buy my P-bass, it sounded completely different when he played it through my rig. Not better or worse, just different - i.e. like him not me!
 10. Welcome Ian! Although you haven't sought any advice yet, let me offer you some:

The bass is not a guitar, it's a completely different instrument;
Although you may occasionally stumble across a fact on this forum, most of what is here consist of opinions;
There are no stupid questions.
Enjoy!
 11. By way of contrast, tonight I am at a social club in Wells, Somerset, where Hot Fuzz was filmed. Yarp! Nice on wateroftyne!
 12.
I gigged for a couple of years with just my Mark Bass CMD121 1x12 combo. It was fine most of the time but I started to think it was struggling to fill some of the larger rooms we play.
I had no trouble filling a large room with just a BF Midget (see this thread) but it could well have been a different story with a louder band.
 13. Methinks a WOOT is in order. Crazy looking basses those Aliens!
 14. Heh heh heh! But seriously folks... IMO playing bass well requires a greater level of musicality than for guitar, so the guy didn't so much insult you as show up his own ignorance! Did you get the gig?
 15. Read this. Nuff said
 16.
might be worth setting your strap length to the same height as when you're playing sitting down, (ie don't have the bass down by your knees!)
+1. I also recommend this. (Still haven't cracked embedded video!)
 17. Count me among 'those who love Zappa', but not my favourite album by a long way. Uncle Meat, One Size Fits All, and Shut Up 'n play Yer Guitar spring to mind.
 18.
I imagine there might be some Seymour Duncan or Bareknuckle action in the future.
I have 2 P90-powered guitars, one with Seymour Duncans, the other with Bareknuckles (Mississippi Queens). You won't regret either choice!
 19.
Loads o f regrets! I could have been pope.
So could I but my kids were dead against it.
 20.
Please do not bid?
He's basically using the listing as an ad.
 21. As it is more helpful to sing something rather than just speak, I like to do a verse of Postman Pat: Postman Pat, Postman Pat Postman Pat ran over his cat Blood and guts were flying, Postman Pat was crying I've never seen a cat as flat as that [No fictional animals were harmed before or during the submission of this post. Can't make any promises about afterwards though.]
 22. We recently stayed near Axminster for a short break. There is a small music shop in the town, not a huge range. On the same trip I also visited Hartnoll in Taunton (very disappointing) and Harmony in Dorchester (always have at least a couple of interesting used items). In Salisbury, Sarum Guitars has gone, and the Music Room has the same old same old. Haven't been to Manson's 2 years but always worthwhile.
 23. Another bass player decided to plug into my rig for a short set in between the two I was playing. I sat and watched him twiddle knobs, slide sliders, check his lead, check the battery in his bass, re-check a few of those... before finally coming off stage to find me and ask how my amp worked. 'Would you like to borrow my amp then?' I asked. I kind of knew the answer because he hadn't brought one, though he could have DI'ed into thePA. 'Yes please' he said. So I walked onto the stage and released the mute switch.
