I bought this pre-amp about a year ago, serviced it & fixed an intermittent fault with the foot-switch socket and it has sat mostly unused in the rack since then. Would this fit in a fender Jazz with no additional routing? -
The bass is boost only, with an indent midway - I think I might have had the bass boosted whoops.

Oh I dont have everything cranked up - like you it's close to flat, with just a tiny touch of bass and treble boost. It still sounds like it will blow the doors off. I'll take a look at the trim settings on the preamp. I really want to like it, but initial impressions aren't great. Whereas my stingray seems to flatter my poor playing - and make it sound good, the J-Retro seems to magnify all the bits I dont like!

New to bass Guitar - Advice for buying a used bass privately

If you are new to the bass, take someone who isn't with you. Otherwise buying privately will be a real gamble. -
Squier make a pink 3/4 fender suitable for a 7 yo (I have one for my daughter) and its great. It only cost £90 new from Gear4Music. I wouldnt mess around with a chinese seller for the sake of saving £5

I recently added/upgraded my 75 RI Jazz to sport a J-Retro, wanting to add a MM type sound to my arsenal. Boy was I disappointed. It just seems too much, like adding nitrous oxide to a moped. It's not my only active bass, I have a stingray and used to own a MM Jazz. Love the stingray sound (wasnt so keen on the Jap MM). Am I the only one who thinks the J-Retro sound is just too OTT? Should I persevere with it? At least it's an easily reversible upgrade. Opinions?

I bought this on Ebay before speaking to my luthier for advice! Turns out he was able to repair my nut without replacing it. Paid about £11 on Ebay, so I think £6 posted to UK first class is fair. Replacement Nut in man-made ivory to fit a Fender Jazz (or similar), sealed in its original packaging.

I tried to sell mine @ £675 but not a sniff of interest. Ended up trading it with a dealer who punted it out for a lot extra.

Moving into a new music room, so thinning out unused gear. I bought this Fender Rumble brand new a few years ago, but have barely used it since (maybe 2 hours use from new tops). Carpet covering is in perfect/very good nick. It's coming from a smoke and pet free home and has been in dry storage for most of it's life. It's the one with the 15watt amp, and the 8" speaker. I can email photo's to interested parties. Collection from NN3 (or possibly Euston/Liverpool Street station during the week, or EC2 during the day). No postage I'm afraid.

Haven't used Riffstation, but do use Chordify.net - similar thing, although it does have varying degrees of success with more complex stuff.

I love mid 70's jazz basses. £1299 seems a reasonable price for a 'player'. If I were in the market for another jazz, I might give this a look. They have another in black which looks in better shape at £1499. I'd definitely want to play them before I bought though.
