I had a B410HLF once, was really cheaply built I'd definitely look elsewhere, there are much better cabs around for less money, if you do need to go the Ampeg route, it's worth spending the extra cash for the SVT 410HLF.

I once bought a 300w Trace Elliot head with 4x10 and 1x15 Peavey cabs for £300, there's plenty of bargains out there in the second hand market!

First of all, let me get this out of the way... Ok, I think I'm over it. Right, so I've been out of work for a while, and I'm sure rent will be due before I get paid even if I do get a job soon, so my GK rig is up for sale. I'm certain i'll buy GK again in the future (MB2!!), but in the meantime I'll get something cheap to practice/gig with. I'm looking for £800 for the amp and cab, including bag for the amp. I'd rather not seperate them, as then I'd still be left with something I can't use and not enough for rent. I can take pictures of them in daylight if anyone wants them, but rest assured they're in mint condition, just a few barely visible scuff marks on the top of the cab where the amp's been sat. Still got the box and instructions for the amp too. The Deluxe Active Jazz is pretty good for the money (about £530), I've played mine in punk bands, got a great tone from it. But I'd probably go with a Deluxe Active Precision if it was specifically for punk, then you can use the P-bass pickup on it's own, but the Jazz pickup is there if you need it. And it's also got the Jazz neck. In fact... I want one! I've never had any problems, never played through it for longer than two hours, and mostly for 30-40 minute gigs, but always been fine.

I had the 4 string version back in the day when they were around £300 new. Absolutely fantastic bass for the price, very high quality and a great sound, wish I hadn't sold it but it didn't fit my bands or my style. Not sure I'd pay that much for one, I'd probably look for a second hand Rebop, but a great bass all the same!

I think at that price I'd rather wait for these: http://www.sterlingbymusicman.com/

Money is tight, and I refuse to sell any basses, so I'm selling my Epiphone Les Paul Ultra. I bought it last summer, and it's never left the house. It's barely even been out of the gig bag as I always pick up the bass first (obviously!). It's got a chambered body and body contour, so lighter than a standard LP, and more comfortable. Got a smooth neck too rather than the usual gloss, so it's really nice to play. I'm looking for £300, with gig bag. I can provide pictures if there's any interest, but in the meantime here's some stock pics:
I went along to one "audition" for a band that wanted a professional bass player... turned out I lost the slot the moment I unzipped my gigbag to reveal a Squier VMJ... Rather funny, as when I next saw them play with their new "professional" bass player and his fancy Fender... all he was doing was playing straight eighths on the root notes... I could easily play him off the stage any day...
At my last audition I took the SX and left the Fender at home purely to see if they were those kind of people. Turned out they loved the tone and didn't care what it said on the headstock!

I much preferred the Neo (only played the 212 though, not 410) to the RBH410. It is a very clean sound, but it has impressed everyone I've played with. Not to mention being smaller and lighter. And better looking?
-
I'm sure I've got pics of them all somewhere, but not on this laptop. Anyway... 1) Trace Elliot AH300 + Peavey 4x10 + Peavey 1x15. Blew the amp, and wanted to downsize, so... 2) Ampeg B2R & B410HLF. Wasn't the sound I wanted, cheaply made and too heavy, so... 3) GK 1001RB-II and Neo212. Perfect. Just need a 112 to go with it!

Sure, I'll take you debit cards off you, I'll PM you my address

It's been like that for a few weeks for me?

I wish I'd never sold mine. I bought it having never seen one before, and two months later read a great review (which said their review copy was the first in the country!). The build quality wasn't great, the fret work could have been better, but it played well and sounded amazing, just too heavy for long practices and I ended up selling it for something lighter. If I ever see a good quality sunburst version the credit card will be out of my wallet faster than a Billy Sheehan solo!!

My (Mex) Deluxe Active Jazz is very quiet, and the Americans have the same Noiseless pickups so noise shouldn't be a problem? I do have a clicky popping sound sometimes though, but I think my bridge pickup is too high.

Hi Wayne, I supported Stuntface at Central Station once in my old band The Fatal Mistake, think maybe somewhere else too, definitely saw you a couple of times! Think you were playing through an SVT back then?
-
I'm looking forward to February, The Gaslight Anthem, Alkaline Trio and Rise Against on tour. Seen Rise Against and Trio plenty of times before, but still get excited at the thought of getting down the front and screaming my head off to every word. As for the Gaslight Anthem, The '59 Sound was the best album of 2008, and I've been waiting a long time to see them, would have seen them already if not for a gig clash!
-
Definitely go for the GK, you can get a new one for £399, way better value than the Ampeg. I used to have the B-2R and it did me proud for a couple of years, but I couldn't believe how much better I sounded through the GK. A much clearer tone, way more volume to play with.

My modded SX Jazz - bought on here, played it with a band for the first time last week, they all commented on how good it sounded, looked and it played as well as my Fender. Bargain!
-
In my last three bands I've always been on the drummer's left.
-
I thought I needed a guitar to keep in the lounge and pick up everytime the adverts came on, so I bought an Epi Les Paul Ultra (great guitar!). Then I realised I was wrong and there's now a bass on that stand!

That's me! Yeah, apart from the Haygate there's nothing anymore. Shame, there used to be a decent scene!

Welcome! I'm from Telford too... managed to leave the place three times now but I'll probably end up back there at some point!
