1. Pfffft I don't have a clue what people talk about when they mention lbs or ounces or whatever. It is just some arcane and retarded system. Using the metric system should be mandatory nowadays.
2. Okay. This is obviously the best bass in the world. Forget all the nonsense I posted earlier tonight except for the part where I said it sounds great of course. There is no room for honesty on here. Jeez Louise so much for being honest all I said is the mm sig I have has better fretwork then my NM sig, AND that its a great sounding and good but not great playing instrument. If that offends you I hold little hope for you as a person. Been setting up lots of basses doing a lousy job then most probably (like 80 percent of all guitarshops). Perhaps it is time for a carreer change Andy.
3. Its mexican neck is hard to setup if you want ultra low action. Nowhere near the quality of my other signature fender - a MIJ marcus miller sig jazz. It does sound really good though and is well playable, just not great. Mine will require fret sanding to become great.
4. Although I largely do not care about instrument weight (I do consider myself lucky, am not ignoring the fact others require light weight instruments) I did sell my six string solid mahogany Chris Larkin Bassix because it was unpleasant for me to play. I used to move (jump) around a lot back in those days playing hardcore/metal/funk crossover and that axe kept lagging behind because of its weight. Heaviest bass I own is strangely also probably the smallest, an EBMM Sterling bass. Beats me why it is so heavy for such a small bass... Sounds DA BOMB though! My P (Nate Mendel sig) is pleasantly Light.
5. G E N E R A T I O N S - Which do you prefer? The great SMX series or the later models with GP12X pre? Or do you maybe prefer the even earlier Mk.V or Series 6? IMHO still nothing beats the SMX range of amps.
6. I bought Mike's Trace Elliot AH400SMX amp. He stated it was in good shape. That was an understatement, the amp is almost as new! Communication with Mike is very clear and smooth running, would deal with this gentleman any time. Thanks Mike!
7.
Here is my beauty Streamer Stage 1
Nice! Had one of those, I still regret selling it.
8. OK. Nice Warwick Pasha! What am I missing here.
9. Just sold my TB-600 for too little money. These amps are really great but relatively unknown. The overdrive channel sounds (as expected) pretty oldskool. Clean chan is very lively and responsive it really did make my Precision sing. This TB-1200 will blow any "lightweight" amp out there straight out the water. I am however nowadays addicted to early 90's amps that are green and have blacklights built in so ended up selling the TB.
10. Invalid. Firstly one speakon connector is enough. I can't imagine anyone needing two. I use both XLR speaker outputs on my main rig but my amp has a stereo powersection without bridging option so here it makes sense to do so, otherwise I would have 300 watts instead of 600. On a mono rig you really only need one output. You can chain two 8ohm cabs it won't hurt and there is not any difference output wise, Secondly, If you don't like the subharmonic, you don't HAVE to use it. It is okay to keep it off really. Dialing it in just a little for dub works really nice btw, Just my 2p.
11. Nope, mine seems perfect as it is really, although the thinner neck was harder to set up right (set it up perfectly, 1 day later neck bow is different again. Getting it right was sort of a balancing act that lasted about a week) Took it to the local jamsession last night and every bassplayer was loving it. Sadly the old Warwick amp with 1x15 there could not really cope with its thunderous lows and was making fart noises most of the night. A hefty bass stack is a must with this bass.
12. I like my action low as possible on most basses eventhough my right hand thumb is named Mjölnir.
13. Don't you know there's small watts and large ones? Sheesh I have to tell you guys everything.... But seriously, It is my experience that an old Trace AH250 with GP11 pre blows 500+ watts class D amps out the water... And I'm using an RAH600SMX as my main amp. *\o/* So, stated amounts of watts do not say it all. There's more involved like damping factor and slew rate of an amp, things people never talk about or notice... Like with cars people talking about horsepower while it is really all about torque. I do believe Ashdown when they say the 420w rootmaster sounds larger then a 600w mag. They have the information we lack.
14. This bass has been in Simply Red, too. Just sayin' ... And I sold it to someone who had been searching for a broadneck fretless Warwick for years. No regrets, I still have a Dolphin Pro1 5str. with MEC stuff on, it kills! Hoping you can get a good deal on that fretless Dazed, keeping fingers crossed for ya. Cheers, Marco
15. It is a broadneck by the looks of it. This was mine. Expect something similar!
16. Or is it a broadneck? Can't see clearly on my smartphone...
17. LOL! just kidding. I owned both the 89 with bart j+hb and a broadneck fretless 91 with bart soapbars. The 89 lacked in the lows and I always found myself dialling in the bottom end to max. I had the best midrange presence in the workd though and sounded very 'jaco' to me. Great bass! The 91 with bart soapbars had lots more low + high end but not too much. It is much more versatile then the 89 tone wise. By the looks of it the bass you're talking of is a custom shop order as it is lined and has bart soapbars while not being a broadneck. If I were you I'd be more then interested!
18. If I weren't totally hooked on old Trace SMX heads I'd be checking out those Rootmasters for sure! Is that comp a dualband one?
19. No, but marketing allows this and people do buy them for that kinda money. This also creates a huuuge gap between prices of new instruments and used ones, although prices for certain used market models have gone up as well over the last two years or so. Still, I'd sooner buy a used German model then any of the pro series or rockbass series models. With musical instruments I try to avoid buying new anyway.
20. Don't underestimate the Corvette STD. I love the way they sound! True they used to be the cheaper model but the cost of building them was close to that of other models back in the day. Just as good as any other Wawick!
21. I have read about lots of nineties Warwicks with neck / truss rod related problems. When you are able to fix it you got yourself the best bass in the world though... Still playing this bass every day.
22. Hi Japhet, would you be willing to ship to the Netherlands? I have been searching for a second SMX head (i own an RAH600SMX) but can't seem to find any down here. Cheers, Marco
