1. OK. Ended up with just three fx pedals. Two really won't cut it. Still happy with the small footprint board.
2. I remember having a hard time to keep the B from ringing when playing my first fiver many years ago. Having a tight sounding low B is really nice though and nowadays I have to think creative when playing a four string as I incorporate the low B string in my playing a lot, even when playing from E or higher.
3. Picked it up today from the shop. Took it for a spin on the Goliath Jr. With my Jazz, Ric and Warwick Dolphin. Worthless amp I hate it.... But seriously, IT KICKS SOME SERIOUSLY SERIOUS ASS!!! SERIOUSLY. Ugh.
4. Heh. Deal gone bad? Picking mine (new) up tomorrow or saturday. Best of luck selling this killer amp!
5. If I get very disappointed by this amp I'll let you guys know, okay? Haha. Gawd I'm getting tired of this forum crap.
6. Modesty is often mistaken with uncertainty. I've been dealing with bass gear for 25+ years now, why pretend to not know what to get?
7. Try one where? Welcome to the Netherlands where every shop has the same sh*tty stack of class D bass amps. Nope, I studied all the manuals, specs, forums, watched all the youtube vids there can be seen on ANY current full valve amp. Prodigy is the one. I never regret any purchase as I am smart enough to make good decisions time after time. Meanwhile, I sensed some funk in its logo that needed further intensifying so that's what I did. How's this for a seventies funk feel?
8. It can compete with other valve amps in its price range easily imho and shouldn't be expected in the price range of vietnamese ampegs and chinese ashdowns. In my case the choice was between Ampeg Heritage SVT, Fender Super Bassman and Mesa Bass Prodigy. The Fender being somewhat cheaper. Of these the Prodigy has the best options on board with its active bass and treb dials and passive mids plus the 5way voicing switch. It can also be run at half power which is handy at smaller gigs. I don't think I will regret purchasing this.
9. My current Windows Wallpaper as the amp will be delivered somewhere between xmas and newyears eve... Stoked!
10. Nice! (I also play a Ric and three Warwicks through my Trace Elliot AH400SMX. You scare me.)
11. For hours I tried. Managed to remove my delay and chorus but kept the rest. Fail.
12. I tried cutting down on fx today. I failed. This is not your mommies fx board. Only stuff on there that's manly as f*ck. YO HO HO!!!
13. I guess I would keep just one fuzz or OD and the poly octaver myself. The rest I hardly ever use and should be able to do without. Somehow however, I can't seem to downsize. I tried... Board just keeps growing.
14. I love effects too much. In fact I love them so much I keep buying stuff I won't ever use in a live situation. At my attic I have a whole bunch of them that are never used, kept in drawers. Am I perhaps too heavily GAS induced? Or is this standard behaviour for a bassist? So anyway browsing the pedalboards thread Made me come up with this question: If you had to downsize and could (besides your tuner) only use, say, max. two effect pedals... Which ones would you keep?
15. Dat space bass! Seriously hawt.
16. FAPTIME!
17. Odd. Did you get around to fixing it Rob? Am wondering what the problem might have been.
18. I love my old Trace Elliot SMX amps. Out of the three I own however only one is still without problems (well, the cooling fan is actually at max speed 24/7 nowadays so I expect it to start being a problem amp soon as well). The ability to dial in some valve warmth makes the sound very sweet and buttery yet stays tight and punchy. With these amps, I am mainly using a trace 2x15" cab with a hf unit and filter I built in there myself. Lots of love for the tone I currently have. However, I am afraid I am kinda fed up with the problems that come with amps this old. Well then. Any new amp I would want to have should be able to get this buttery sweetness into my tone. Most of them however seem to only use any valves for getting overdrive. This I do not want. I get better overdrive from my Darkglass pedals anyway. So far the only things I have seen that should be capable of warm, punchy tone are the Tecamp Bad Bull 900 and Mesa Bass Prodigy but the two of those both cost a LOT of money. If I were to buy a new, modern amp. What would you have me check out? I'm thinking 400-800 watts of solid state poweramp or 200w valve. Or should I just get my Trace RAH600SMX and AH400SMX serviced instead?
19. I want my stack to be able to handle any room's acoustics I play in thus it should be capable of moving some serious air. Pushing a cab to the limit will make it sound crap so have as much headroom as you can tbh. A 2x15" is my current mainstay but two 4x10's will make you more flexible. I just happen to prefer 15" speakers to 10" ones as they sound way different in the midrange frequencies. Otherwise there would be a 6x10 or two 4x10's. So yes there is a reason to go for owning two 4x10's.
20. More eyecandy is better no?

22. If the neck is completely straight the frets should start buzzing around the 2nd and 3rd frets first when lowering the action. What you're describing (lowering the action on a straight neck causing buzz only from the 12th fret) would mean your bass is in need of a fret leveling/sanding job for at least the frets beyond the octave.
